    How about Awakening?

It seems like you'd get much more out of it than your opponents.

So, I have a Grand Architect and a Rings of Brighthearth in play. I tap out to activate some arbitrary activated ability. Can I use the 2 mana produced from tapping Grand Architect to trigger the Rings of Brighthearth and copy the activated ability? Or does Grand Architect's ability only work with activated abilities?

Do I get to draw four cards if my Kozilek, Butcher of Truth is countered (by something like Cancel)?

Similarly, would a white spell that is countered add a charge counter to my Shrine of Loyal Legions?

    Thanks!

Ass for Mass Mutiny, we know it's likely in the chaos reigns deck, but we dont know what it's rarity is, thus it's not been put up in the OP (it's easy to assume it's rare, because of it's effect, but i'm not adding it until it's rarity is confirmed)

Wouldn't it be more likely to see Mass Mutiny in the devour deck? Think about it: you steal a creature from each of your opponents, swing with them, and then drop a devour creature, saccing the creatures before your opponents regain control.

Meanwhile, it seems pretty awful in a cascade deck, seeing that if you cascade into in Main Phase 2 it is completely useless.

I know it will probably depend on the store, but does anyone know if there will be WOTC sponsored release events for the new Planechase decks? I know that last time there were some at my old LGS and they gave away Tazeems as a promo card for attendance, but I was looking at a few game stores in my new area and none of them mention anything for the new planechase product. Anyone know if release events are going to be supported, or if these will these act more like duel decks and just come out.

Does anyone have experience running Captain Sisay in a Karador build?

My deck runs Yosei, Mikaeus, Sheoldred, and Vish Kal, in addition to Phyrexian Tower, and I feel like an easy, repeatable way to tutor any of those cards would be insanely powerful. Plus, if people run Ghave or Saffi or Myojin, they just get added value.

Is it to big of a target? I worry that if I play Sisay in multiplayer I would almost never be able to untap with it...

So, I am a pretty experienced EDH player and have 5 completed decks at the moment, but I was looking through them the other day and I realized that all of them rely on creature-based strategies. I've been in the mood to make a new EDH deck lately, but I wanted some advice as to how to make a strong deck that relies less on creatures. I hadn't really decided on a general yet, but I was hoping to included blue and red I was thinking about Thraximundar or Riku of the Two Reflections as a general among other options.

Anyone have any good tips for making a strong deck that focuses on instants and sorceries as opposed to creatures, and maybe some good cards to include?

Hey all. I've been playing Karador for a while now, and I check this thread somewhat regularly, but I just thought I'd post my deck. I just gave it a but of a makeover, adding a few cards I'm somewhat unsure about (Grim Flowering, Novablast Wurm) so we'll see how that goes. Anyway, feel free to observe or make comments, etc

  • posted a message on The Mass Effect 3 thread
So, I beat Mass Effect 3 a few days ago, and I really liked the ending. I found nothing wrong with it. Knowing there had been a lot of uproar, I went to the internet to see what the complaints were all about, and I was really confused by what a lot of people had to say, so I wanted to post my thoughts and see what people had to say. I want to discuss this with someone, but none of my friends have beaten it yet and I don't want to spoil it. To be fair, I have only played through each game once, so I may not be quite as emotionally invested as some. So...(spoilers obviously)
I chose to destroy the reapers and the mass relays. I got to do my Shepard had been claiming to do the entire game. In this final cutscene, the citadel exploded, and I was on it. My character died. I was not upset that I saw practically nothing more from then on. From the beginning, these games told the story of Shepard, and now that he had died, the end. I was happy knowing that I had saved the world from certain extinction, like I had hoped to all along.

I spent twenty minutes staring at the screen before I walked down one of the three paths. Mass Effect has been all about your choices from the beginning, and I thought the final choice was very well fleshed out, giving you three very clearly distinct ways to accomplish your mission. For all those people who experienced the ending by watching online and not making this choice for yourself, I understand why you hated the ending. All of the outcomes had clear and drastic effects on the galaxy as a whole, and needing to make this choice that would effect EVERYONE is what made this decision so difficult, and, at the end of the day, so rewarding for me.

Now to address some common complaints I've heard:

-By blowing up the mass relays, you doom everyone, especially the people who came to fight on Earth!

Mass Effect 3 is grim. If you didn't feel this, we were clearly playing different games. A lot of people die, and you are fighting thousands of extremely powerful machines. In the whole game, where your ENTIRE mission is to kill them, you only kill two. Kind of. If you count Kalros as "you". I personally would have been disappointed if the game ended with a 180 degree mood shift and everything being extremely happy. Also, isn't whatever you do better than the reapers just killing everyone like they did the Protheans? So then it is a happy ending. Also, the people who came to fight with you knew they would probably die on this fight. If the ending screwed them over, that doesn't make the ending bad. Shepard can't save everyone. Also, in the "synthesize" and "control" endings, they never state that the relays are destroyed (I may be wrong here). The blast from the citadel travels from galaxy to galaxy through the relays, but only in the "destroy" ending does it explicitly state that they are destroyed.

-All the endings were the same!

Did you listen to the blue ghost thing? Clearly different things happened depending on your ending. You may not have seen it, but your decision had a lasting impact on the galaxy, and that was enough for me. It's a lot like Legion's loyalty mission in ME2. You either destroy or convert the heretics. It's a hard decision, and you never really SEE the outcome, but having actually made it, you feel it and are satisfied. Also, hundreds of variables from ME1 and ME2 went into ME3. I'm sorry that they couldn't make THAT MANY endings for all of your choices, but let's be realistic here...they did what they could.

-You get no closure. You built up all these relationships throughout the games, and nothing reflects that in the end!

Um, every party member, even the ones from ME2 have a stirring goodbye speech before the final mission if you talk to them, which reflect the relationship you've built with them. How was that not closure?

-Why did Joker flee the fight?

I admit, this is a good point. But, there was a giant blue/red/green blast engulfing Earth. Also, Joker was probably told that all the Hammer team died, as everyone believed. That included you. He thought Shepard was dead. For those two reasons, I wasn't shocked to see him flying away.

-The last bit, with the stargazer, was dumb!

Stop making such a big deal out of this one. They did this simply so that people could continue playing after doing the final mission (to do unfinished sidequests and such) without there being a total loss of continuity. Was it perfectly done? No. But I don't think they intended people to read that much in to it

Finally, like any movie or book, the makers have artistic license. Just because this is interactive, doesn't mean they don't have a vision and that you get to decide how it ends. No, your ending is not better than their's because this is there story. Mass Effect is revolutionary for giving its players so much choice. It is impossible for them to give a satisfying ending for all the choices you could have made. By complaining to the company and making them change their ending, you are giving other companies a clear reason not to make games like this. STOP. Mass Effect was amazing, and I want other companies to be able to make other awesome games like it without worrying about their entitled fans throwing a hissy fit. If you have added your voice to the complaints against Bioware, I believe you have actively given other gaming companies a reason to fear being innovative, which will lead them to not make more good games like Mass Effect, which sucks.
Was the ending perfect? No. But I liked it, and right now I feel like the only one in the world. So, if you liked it too, please let me know. If not, I'm really sorry if I somehow insulted you with everything I just typed, and please respond, or PM me, with some of your complaints, because I'm really curious and would like to have a conversation about it to understand it a little more, or maybe share some of the joy I found in it with you.

Vorin gathers another source of red mana. As his head is still ringing from the pain from before, he feels no pain from the mana.

Now at a safe distance from the orb, Vorin decides he'll add a creature to the mix. This force can't kill all their combined creatures forever. Vorin drew all his mana into his body, and in front of him a large dragon appeared. The dragon flew up, above the other houses and began circling the battlefield, ready to attack.

    On the Battlefield:
    1 Furnace Whelp (Q, SS)
    2 Mountain (T)
    1 Desert (T)
    1 Ghitu Encampment (T)
    1 Oasis (Q)

Feeling the crippling pain, Vorin grabs some dirt in his hand. He squeezes the dirt with all his strength to resist loosing consciousness. The pain was worse than anything he had felt gathering red mana. He became woozy, and began to collapse to the floor until suddenly it stops. With a sudden clairty in his head, he catches himself. His weakened arm struggles to keep himself up, but he slowly manages to get to his feet as bits of rubble hit him as he gets up.

His body still aches from the pain, but suddenly the red mana coursing through his body seems mild by comparison. He has no time to react to the goblin charging him, but fortunately it gets destroyed by someone else. With the strength he can muster he begins to move further from the orb, to get behind some of the more prepared mages, ready to support them as he can. He wasn't used to fighting on teams, but seeing the camaraderie of the Estark mages around him, it seemed like he would need to do his part. Plus, Tangarth was counting on him.

From a safer distance, he commanded drew upon the desert mana he had gathered, and fired a small wave of sand at one of the goblins that hit Kennar.

    On the Battlefield:
1 Desert (T, killing a Goblin attacking Kennar)
    1 Ghitu Encampment (T)
    1 Oasis (Q)

OOC: Vorin retreats towards Flame-Tongue and uses Desert to kill a goblin attacking Kennar, assuming it survives. Also, if there is any creature combat, I can step in with Oasis, but none so far.

    EDIT: Turn Actions:

Vorin gathered more red mana, barely noticing the pain it caused him. He continued to move away from the orb slowly, ready to blast anything that approaches him.

    On the Battlefield (all untapped):
    1 Mountain
    1 Desert
    1 Ghitu Encampment
    1 Oasis

As the rumbling strengthened, Vorin shut his eyes, fell down to one knee, and suddenly lost awareness of what was going on around him. His arms and legs were aching and no matter what he did, the pain would not stop. However, he had to be able to defend himself. Without moving, he gathered a connection to an encampment of soldiers he had come across just before arriving at Estark. Though summoning red mana hurt him, it was nothing compared to the pain that the rumbling was causing him.
