I wouldn't put Time Reversal and Koth in the same sentence. Time Reversal costs 6 and just doesn't have a place in standard, I knew that the moment I saw it. Koth is a good 4cc Planeswalker, and he at least has a home in RDW, whether or not he will ultimately be massively expensive. It's safe to say he will at least stay above $25.

    Time Reversal costs 5 mana.
And I would like it to find a place in standard.

Anyway. The real thing that's bothering me with mythic is that it makes the booster-opening-experience FAR LESS interesting and fun. Deception is greater because you know you can get better then pull a rare. And if you pull a mythic... you sure hope it's not a bad one. I really miss the time were all the odds of getting one card was the same as getting any other. The gambling experience was twice (if not more) as more fun because your chances were EVEN.
I don't buy on the secondary market, but I sure love to trade a lot. I prefered when the value of my cards was more scattered among them then to have a small number of cards (mythics) that are worth 50$ and so... and bunches of low value cards.
BoP used to be 10, now around 5... With two birds you use to get a mutavault (almost). Now with two birds.. well you won't go too far with two birds...
Mythics had the advantage to lower rare prices. But what are my rares good for if I need 10x more of them to TRADE UP?
It's difficult to trade now... if I want their 5th walletslayer, they have to find 35$ of value in my cards. If I wanted their 5th Cryptic Command, they had to fin 20-25$ of value in my binder.
Ok so 10$ isn't that much.
BUT THE OVERALL AVERAGE OF MY CARDS IS SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER.
Secondary market isn't all... mythic is also ruining trading.

    Okay, I like whining too.

I have no Jaces 2.0... I share my card pool with 2 other friends. I'd sure like to have some jaces. But hey, I sure prefer having that 80$ in my pockets.
So we make drafts and play EDH.
BUT WE DON'T OPEN BOOSTERS FOR THE SAKE OF IT. Well... I don't.
And my trading funs are less fun.

    AAAAAHHH MEN IT FEELS GOOOOOD.

To sum up, mythic has reduce my fun of enjoying the game because it changed the mentality of the community about cardboard value.
    Fact: people are more greedy.

    Quote from Bitsy
MaRo doesn't like the reprint policy at all. In fact he said it was created by people who no longer work at WoTC and is largely irrelevent. What MaRo wants is a viable solution that will appease both players AND collectors. He won't use his sizable clout to back a bad plan.

I don't think it is possible to accomodate both sides. Reprints from the reserved list will, by increasing the offer, reduce the price on the original cards, and this is the purpose of removing the policy.
I am stunned however that, as a business (its main goal is to make money) they positionned themselves in favor of a minority of consumers and will therefore not profit from the "legacy boom" or EDH fanbase, etc. to reverse a bad policy and to increase incomes.

P.S.: I remember in the *****ing post someone desiring to boycott the products containing The Reserved List cards. I think we shall do the opposite. Buy them to show we are interested in products containing such cards.
P.S.2.: Count me in the group who has send a letter/mail to WotC to complain.

I so much love the Chalice.
    I was just like.
    Wow.
    Esperzoa anyone?
I wish for aggro esper again, oh I wish.
I wish for mana accel in control, oh I wish.

The Amulet is pretty insane fun too!
It remains unsure though if standard control decks require this tempo, but hey, with a good mix of terramorphic expanses, rupture spires and trilands, this could be just it.

    ROFL OCTOPUS!

    Meh.
    Another mythical mythic.
Nothing to get me really excited. Is it me or mythics mostly appeal to timmies at first?
If mythic must have OOMPH in them, and timmy loves cards with OMFG, aren't those mostly design for timmies? Mostly?

Anyway. I'm tired, not excited about this preview, and still complaining about the mythic rarity.

    Sure it does feel mythic...
(didn't DoJ feels mythic to you? Destroy all Creatures is quite mythical... Whatever).

  • posted a message on [WWK] WoTC Previews: 1-18 Raging Ravine and Omnath, Locus of Mana
At first I was excited and intrigued by Omnath. Then I realized it was Mythic.
I don't know why, but I really saw this card as rare, I only see cards as rares, then loose my erection when i realize those are mythics.

I still like the design though, could get extremely fun. I'm more excited by the floating mana ability than the pump one. Lets just pray he will get too much hype so I can trade them easily during PreRelease.

    Wordy manlands are wordy.

EDIT: Remember that it says GREEN mana. GREEN. That's it.

EDIT 2.0: After a good night of rest: OmOm is great design, it is fun, it is innovative. Yes. But it will not break Standard (lotus Cobra hasn't done so ans he's far more versatile). Why will it not break standard? First it has no evasion of somesort, evasion is incredible for making incredibly good creatures, no trample, no flying, no shroud, not anything. I hate the dies to removal argument but hey, it does. Second it has no embodied CA, which is really important in standard (why is blightning and bloodbraid elf and DoJ so good?). And third, most importantly, I think it has severe tempo loss, sure you can store GREEN mana, but this requires tempo, and while you are storing mana, you don't do much anything, you might give turns to you're opponent to find the removal card he need to wreck your strategy (lotus cobra, for instance, has built in tempo, for just playing lands, which people do want to normally do, you get extra mana, of any color that is)
I don't know, perhaps it coulb be broken, but green rarely is broken. and it sincerely doesn't fit in Jund. Please.
N.B.: I really like the design nonetheless, it appeals my johnny senses, not my spikey ones though.

    Interesting.
Trap is funny. 6/12 are fun numbers. Control decks might use this, perhaps?
Tideshaper thing is very neat also, I was expecting to see a landfall untap ability.
Harabaz Druid might be insane, or maybe not, i'm undecided. I like the design as of now. But it could turn in an insane fixer + accel in the right build (and maybe not heavily ally-based), or not. Sleeper maybe? If not too overhyped.
