May have to show you my Mono Black deck. Feedback would be awesome.

And feedback will be given :-p

So what is everyone's opinion of the guild's power level. What guild you are choosing. Any why? I'll post for myself in a couple days after I am able to read every card, because I haven't been able to yet. Though I'm leaning toward Orhzov or simic I think. I'm going for power on day 1 and flavor on day 2 :-p

EDIT: By what are you choosing, I meant for the pre-release :-p

    Quote from Dechs Kaison
The following is based on the assumption that I can get my hands on multiple Hands of Binding (no pun intended). The card is a common and I think it's being undervalued. With three or four of them in a 40 card deck, it can be all to easy to be locking down multiple creatures the entire game. I'm going to a prerelease sealed event this weekend, and this is what I'm expecting.

3/4 in a 6 pack sealed is something special. We actually had a guy open 5 pacifism in the M12 release... He won rather easily lol, that and a Sun titan because why not

@Clan Members: Gatecrash is upon us. One thing I noticed tordeck did as Evincar was he did not change the clan thread, he just changed the title and the artwork. While I am not sure I like this, I want to ask the clan members how they feel on the matter? Do we want a new thread or just modify this one? Also, we should get brewing on names and art. For art, if we wish to keep up with the theme of non-guild affiliated arts, I suggest Lord of the Void, but I have not yet found a full art image for it. I do have a Deathwatch Angel art, but that's guild affiliated.

I'm a pit partial toward a new thread :-p Maybe it's just because that's what we did when I joined, but idk... I like it

First thoughts on artwork and name:

"[Clan Mono-Black] is hitting you with Plague after Plague after Plague"

And I really think the Crpy Ghast artwork is a good 'overlord' type art Smile

Today was a pretty good time. There's a guy that has recently switched games to pick up MTG and he seems like a good fit for our crowd. This is important, as we are a fairly rude bunch. Earlier this week he built his first EDH deck (Karador), but the pool of cards he has available is abysmal for the format. He didn't even have benefit of the Karador preconstructed deck and had just traded for it as a single.

Still, his demeanor while playing a deck with Duskdale Wurm (and worse) against a table as hostile and optimized as ours was impressive. To me, this means he's likely to stick with it. In that case, I consider it my responsibility to help him out. Without such assistance, EDH is quite difficult to get into for a player still fairly new to the game.

So I brought in like 50 cards for his deck and helped him rebuild it. Those cards were probably worth ~60 in total. Lots of dime and dollar stuff, but things like Thawing Glaciers and Karmic Guide as well. Let him have it for 20.

Played FNM later. Entry is $5. Ran Rakdos Zombies. Won 7 packs. Opened Cavern of Souls, Bonfire of the Damned, Dreadbore, Overgrown Tomb, foil Silverblade Paladin, foil Ultimate Price.

    Karma?

A mana doubler has not come this cheaply in quite some time. I think he'll make an impact on T2.

Etchings is such an awkward card... Rather just see the usual suspects like Dark Confidant/Phyrexian Arena.

My god.. those packs were nuts... Then again since I stopped opening packs unless they're for prize, i've been doing a lot better with then too :-p.

I find it funny that the doubler only costs 3B. That single black mana is halarious to me considering running this in a deck with anything but a light splash is.. kind of pointless. This might push Mono-B over the edge. Though without good hand disruption i don't know where it would go... brewing is gunna happen now though :-p I'm feeling rakdos return, or consume spirit even

More black mana ramp, oh yeah!

at 4 mana that seems... actually quite good! I'm actually a bit intrigued to try and do something with it

Sorry I've been away for a week or 2 now. I've been spending most of my time doing a lot of things:

    - Castle in minecraft with a room for everything (quite a large project)
    - Went to the pinstripe bowl and watched Syracuse take down West Virginia
    - Christmas with the family and what not (hope everyone is having a good holiday season)
    - My grandfather is bed ridden (well, lazyboy chair ridden rather) and I've been helping take care of him
    - Also trying to hang with friends on the last week of my winter break before clases start again (they do next thursday)
    - Jango unchained was a lot darker than I though. Some of the humer in it was a bit... forced to say the least. Not Terentino's best work but worth the ticket I believe.. Also I HATE Leo but I really liked him in the movie, very much so actually
    - I realized i'm glad I picked up sphinx's while they were $12 each lol
    - trying to move into more MTGO play time due to it being nice that I can find a game at 2am on a school night lol
    - My reddit secret santa got me dolphins duct tape and season 1 of the league

That's a good random update on stuff I've been up to. How was everyone been doing this holiday season/new year's thing?

DONE WITH EXAMS!!!! grades to come :-p

Guaranteed B+ in 2 classes (as in didn't have to take final exam/the professor just told me), however 1 could be bumped to an A
B or B+ in 2 others, I could get a c+ in my 5th class (which stinks.. it'll be my second C+ in college :/) but I might have done well enough on the final to justify getting a B. I'm hoping to end with a 3.25 so keep my GPA relatively high, however if my estimations aren't correct I could leave with like a 3.0 which would be a bit depressing but not devastating by any means... Anyway here's to a month of magic, minecraft, and money... nope wait.. only the 1st two.. damn

Also I can't go to Atlantic City next month anymore :/ awe maaaaaan I might have to make the trip to Charlotte to make up for it. Though that isn't for a bit. I AM going to Pitt in march, it'll be 2 weeks after my 21st so my friends are treating me to the trip Grin YAY

I think that there is no point in bringing up old drama. Be the better person and simply ignore them as best as possible.

    Agreed

Anyone here play D&D/Pathfinder? I'm running a campaign a bit later with some local friends and wonder what people think of the scenario I'm working on.

I do, I'd love to read it though I doubt I'd have the time during finals prep :-p I'm in my fantasy football semi-finals and I'm putting more time than I should into that >_>

long time no see. We can just pretend you never left Wink

@therestless. You're starting to sound like my friend Nick, he is probably the best player I know around here. He plays most formats and can help you out with whatever you needed... Then he built a cube. All he does is try to pick up stuff for cube and what not, and always wants to see if people want to play cube. Its very amusing. He still plays everything, just cube is always on his mind. I've yet to play his cube too sadly :/ Hopefully I will be able to soon though Grin

just thought it was kind of comical. Cube is a blast

The amount of m words in that title is too damn high!

My friend and I through together random decks on mtgo and spent like 5 hours playing yesterday night. I sometimes forget how much fun casual can be :-p

Yeah, I was checking some other staples that I had and the Tabernacle was the highest one. I also sold my Candelabra of Tawnos for $50 and now it's a lot more than that.

I think that what I find most annoying (Legacy-wise) is the price of Force of Will. It's the one of two big reasons I don't play Blue in Legacy (the other being the Urza block).

EDH changes the market a lot? In my region, it's not that played. I still own a Tetsuo Umezawa deck, Grin

you'd be surprised at how much those legacy cards actually fluctuate. The candalabra went from $60-$320 over night. A month later it dipped all the way down to $120 (at this point I picked up 2) and then re-stabilized around the ~$200 it is now. This was due to high tide, but stuff like this happens a LOT. I find it very interesting and I've gotten relatively good at speculation over the years Smile Like, I think Deathrite Shaman is the snapcaster of the set (a lot of people think he is now, so I'm not alone) I've been picking him up at about $5 each for a while now (I have 22? maybe 23? now) Sometimes I go a bit overbored when it comes to picking up cards though.. he just does so much damage!

I finished my U/W flash deck Smile I think I'm gunna migrate it over to U/W/r, to try it out. Looks pretty good. will need to get about $100 in product to shift it over. I need 2 more vents and 2-4 Thundermaw Hellkites.

I cast my Moat for the 1st time the other day Smile I found it funny that I needed to proxy a couple Temporal Masterys, but Moat? Nah, I got that :-p

I listen to a lot of rock as well. Just throw out some stuff you like.

Streetlight manifesto, Mumford and Suns, Van Halen, Queen, Warmen, Kid Cuddi, Bayside, Reel Big Fish, Alice in Chains, Cake, Flogging Molly, Blink 182, Wield Al, Evanescence, Bloodhound Gang, Avenge Sevenfold, Deadmau5

My music is slightly scattered but centers around he general theme of rock. However I've never strayed to far from the mainstream. People generally look down on this for some reason, and I never understood that. Apparently it is impossible to actually like a very popular band for the music, because their talent didn't get them there, mass hysteria did.

But that is just my general belief when it comes to music. Take Nickleback for example. I hate their music, very much so, but I don't believe they suck. They target a specific audience and play what they like. Because of that they are one of the biggest bands in the world. That's the reason why I don't bring up my music taste. I only choose Nickleback because everyone knows who they are, though people take the same view toward dubstep as an entire genre. I generally don't like dubstep... however Deadmau5 is on my list up there Wink

    Anyway.. music is... good

Whenever this thread breaks into music discussion I never know what to do. I'll listen to synthesized music, but I don't enjoy it enough to follow it immensely. I'll just stick to my... randomized tastes
