Legacy also has access to counter permanents ( Chalice of the Void and counter balance) . Both have an initial cost but can counter spells with little or any cost afterwards.
Back to Basics is odd. Like choke it does not end the game if it cant be answered all your nonbasic are just lotus petals and sometime you are ok with that. You have to wait for your opponent to tap out when you cast it otherwise it loses a lot of its value. Blood Moon on the other hand destroys your opponents mana now and forever unless it is removed. I have seen games against BUG and Jund where that spell wins the game on the spot and in legacy thats the type of disruption you want to bring to the table.
Completely depends on the deck. I personally think Terminus is the best sweeper if your play U/W Control with top+jace+brainstorm as it can be played on your opponents turn.
I'm testing something along these lines. Merfolk tribal will dump lords and disrupt better. Goblin tribal will grind value better. Elves will ramp mana better. Slivers can do a little bit of each of those, though.
I thinks this deck angle needs to be explored more. Yes slivers can produce mana and can abuse Athervial. Armageddon seems like a natural fit, the only problem is mutavault becomes a dead card.
The deck mostly already has a name: "Oops, all spells"...
My testing mate which is using the deck tried it this past weekend with worldly tutor and didn't exactly like it.
The creator's of the deck from the Source never could come up with a definitive name and the creator's dislike the name that Adam posted in his article. SCG has a terrible habit of using the wrong deck names/ renaming them. RUG delver is Tempo Thresh and not using the name is almost a slap in the face to the original deck designers. I was happy at least the TinFins got to keep its name and was properly credited but this is not the norm.
Young Pyromancer is good in RUG especially in the mirror. Honestly it provides virtual card advantage and a quick clock. It turns every can trip into a free 1/1. Sure its not as big as goyf without a hand full of spells but with the amount of graveyard hate floating around it may just be better in your local meta.
Blood Moon. Cripples their lack of basics and prevents them from putting lands in the yard to fuel deathrite. I would recommend imperial painter if Deathblade is everywhere in your area. The blasts and quick moon effects can easily overwhelm the deck.
A $20 sandbox is something I could support. I would love to play legacy online but buying cards twice is more then my budget would allow. I would even be willing to pay a .50 cents per match if I could play online.
Phyrexian Revoker might as well be said. It 'removes' the current jace and can start hitting your opponent. Then a again this is Cards A vs Card B question. In a real game there are more then just two cards to evaluate.
Is the mana base strong enough to support a splash of white to incorperate the SFM package? These decks already run batterskull / thoptersword combo, and SFM interacts nicely with both. Does it shore up a weakness this deck has to anything specific to even consider it?
Transmute Artifact is this deck's SFM. You cant really splash a color in this deck if you want to cast a walker on turn two.
I really like this version of UB Tezzeret with 4x chalice, omg I love Tezzeret and in this type of deck he is even stronger then Jace...
This deck reminds me on UWR Miracles, a soft lock for one then trooper combo and multiple win conditions are great.
There is for me just one problem, the mana is so painful and it happened to me many times to just get mana flooded without brainstorm on the board. Sure that those 8 walkers act like brainstorms but still you need to cast them.
Overall it's fun to play, a little bit prison style.
Thirst for Knowledge is this deck's brainstorm and should be played as such. The mana 'floods' can be problematic but sometimes a 4-5 mana hand is a keeper if it has two decent threats.
Standard Decks can definitely cause problems for Fair Legacy Decks. The combo/ graveyard abuse Match ups however can be down right terrible. I played High Tide in 16 man Legacy event full of standard decks. I can tell you that none of my standard match ups where even remotely hard.
Being able to get two uses from Tezz in a turn is a very nice boost imo. I for one look forward to maximizing my extra in hand Tezzeret's.
Still not entirely sold on the Mox Opal is now "Lotus Petal 5-8", though I am not counting out the chances that it is better then it used to be. I can't see finding a spot in Tezz for 4 of them rather then just utility cards. Only time will tell.
Between Tomb and Talismans life loss can become an issue against aggro deck. Opal could provide some of acceleration without life loss. Right now city of traitors acts like a mini ritual a lot of the time so opal would not be much difference.
The Bow of Nylea seems somewhat playable in Maverick but is there room?.
Hammer of Purphoros could replace koth in some versions of imperial painter.

The Decks goal Drop Mana Slivers + Lord then start dropping lock pieces so they cant interact with your guys.

3x Mox Diamond
3x Talismans
Then again this just a theory I don't have of my own play testing to back it up yet.
4x Lotus Petals
4x Chrome Mox
4x LED
4x Mox opal
Seems like getting metal craft would not be very difficult.
