Keep in mind too that if that combo can't be stopped, it results in a draw. Life and Limb is going nowhere fast.

Oh yeah, I always forget that one in Clans. Why is that in Clans anyway? Ultimately that sort of thing might work okay if it was more high profile (moved to Magic General as a whole subforum, maybe?). I'm picturing a mash between those two ideas anyway.

Regardless of what happens here, a link to those threads/subforums should be put in Introduce Yourself. Not sure why I never thought of that before.

So, aside from the accessibility (which really should be improved), there are a few benefits here.

    - Avoid having to update an OP with new contacts for each region. The OP currently is getting updated with additional names, but I'd be willing to bet that at least half the people on extremeicon's list don't even check MTGS anymore. It's not helpful and not performing its intended purpose.

    - Threads organized by region to keep users checking back for replies. It will also be easier to find the thread and you know you'll find people in the area who are still active. Anyone who's interested in matching a name to a face should be encouraged to subscribe to their city's thread. I know I definitely would subscribe. I suspect others would as well. As it is, nearly all of the newbies looking for playgroups get zero replies because no one checks that General thread.

    - Not be restricted to deckbuilding or playtesting like in Clans. Allowing idle chat, event discussion, and whatever else fosters discussion a bit better than having set limits on what's expected (and will hopefully result in more than 1 or 2 posts per month for the forum - what we're currently getting). I'm not looking for a deckbuilding group or playtesters, but getting to know the folks at FNM over MTGS is something I'd be up for.

tl;dr - More accessible, easier to use, more useful, and more family friendly.

I actually really like this idea. One thread per city with somewhat standardized titles would make it really easy to find other MTGSers in your area (works much better than that thread in General that noone ever checks). Aside from talking about stores and events and whatever else, it's cool to know who's who.

I just hope this isn't a test run on a new rarity. I'm thinking they could potentially do this as another level of premium above foil. So not that there would be cards obtainable only at that rarity but just that they could make black on black versions of cards that appear one per box or something like that. Let's hope not.

That's actually exactly what I'm hoping for, and I suspect is the reason we're seeing more exclusive products like this these days. What I don't want is a fifth rarity level (above Mythic). If getting people to chase cards that have no impact on the price to play is the solution, I'm all for it.

I think a lot of players don't realise fundamentally why they like trading and like opening packs and like aquiring new cards to build new decks. My personal opinion is that having something to reach for is a large part of what makes Magic so addicting. Once you own four of every card, what else is there? You can't really enjoy trading anymore. You can build anything you want, but don't get the same satisfaction from finally completing that deck you've been working so hard on. So what else is there? Oh, right, black-on-black promos! Now I can work towards getting that.

People complaining about all this stuff pandering to the rich need to realise that the rich need some reason to stay interested in this game too.

You are absolutely wrong. If you and I have the same $100 card but you had to spend months looking for yours, drive a long way to pick it up, and trade heavily for it it's still only worth $100. I see people attempting to adopt your theory that your time and effort are worth money all the time...usually when they want to drastically overvalue their collections. I ignore these people as they have no idea what they're doing.

You're reading Balrog in the wrong way. Obviously two identical cards will be worth the same amount. What work you had to do to get the card is irrelevant. What work you would have to do to get rid of the card, that's what needs to be factored in here.

Yeah, there was a thread about that a while back, but the general feeling is that Dominaria is being saved as a "post-apocalyptic" plane, something they don't have otherwise. If they ever do a wasteland block, Dominaria's perfectly setup for that without having to create a new plane that wouldn't have the same emotional ties to the devastation.

So because Dominaria got the bump as the generic fantasy plane, Shandalar took that place since that's effectively what it's always been, not to mention that it's pretty difficult to imagine an interesting expansion based around the fact that a plane moves...

This thread is just so you can pad your "I was right" stats, yeah?

Anyway, yes, this is obviously true for a variety of reasons. What I'm more curious about is whether we'll ever see Jace again, or if he's permanently retired to Ravnica. He saw the destruction on Zendikar. If Gideon approached him about that, he may be swayed to help out. But one thing that wasn't totally clear is how the Guildpact works while he's off-plane.

I suspect he'll get a cameo in Ravnica 3.0 a few years from now, but besides that, I'm not sure he'll ever be back.
