Thus, if you could accelerate yourself to the speed at which the Oh My God particle was traveling, you'd be able to travel to the edge of the visible universe in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, even assuming you found a source for the energy it would take and invented a means to accelerate yourself and Intergalactic Vessel Omega Point to this velocity, you wouldn't get far before being disrupted into subatomic goo due to interactions with photons in the ubiquitous cosmic microwave background radiation. Sokolsky has calculated that at 3×10^20 eV, even a single proton could travel no farther than 10 megaparsecs, about the distance of the Virgo galaxy cluster, before losing energy in this manner.
I only have one poem. It kinda sucks but whatever I was bored.
The Sands of Time
The boy was brought into the world
I watched him as his life unfurled
Born upon these fitting sands
Took his steps across the land
As a child, he gazed ahead
Wished he were where it led
He ran ahead, but soon he tired
Never getting where he desired
He missed some things he wishes he didn't
The warm white sand and the ocean's glint
Looking back, he wished he'd paced
All that beauty. What a waste!
As a teen, he waded out
Testing waters with little doubt
He wasn't afraid of a little danger
A jellyfish or sunbathed stranger
He went out of his way to break the rules
He and his friends, they acted like fools
Looking back, he was ashamed
That never got him where he'd aimed
A midlife crisis struck him then
His legs were getting tired again
He turned around, but couldn't go back
and he dropped to the sand like a heavy sack
Afraid of the future, ashamed of the past
He hadn't made his life last
But sitting there, soon the tide came
so he stood again, behind the game
Finally, the end was nearing
he now approached what he'd been fearing
He looked behind, there was no going back
So he walked very slow and avoided the cracks
He reached the end, he neared the rocks
Ahead was death, pandora's box
His life before his eyes did flash
and he heard one final tidal crash
Looking down, he saw the sands
He remembered holding them in his own hands
He remember wasting so much youth
It was only then he knew the truth
The sands of time are forever unchanging
never shifting or rearranging
if he was here, this is what he'd say
live your whole life day by day
step by step you'll see the way
for the sands of time forever stay
Greg, there was already a Stargate movie. It was called, shocker of all shockers, Stargate. You may want to rephrase that surprise to say "An SG1 movie!? Woo!"
heh, I know, I own it (from 1994 :tongue2:), I should've said "another stargate movie"
Well a blog doesn't necessarily have to be personal or about your life. Mine isn't all that personal and I don't go talking about my everyday activities in it because nobody really cares. It's more of a "This is today's discussion/this is what I learned", etc.
Thanks for all of your comments. The situation that brought it about was this-- will a serial killer always be a serial killer at heart, and just try to cover it up (even to himself), or can he actually become a very different person? I'm pretty sure I have my answer now though.
This isn’t article about my philosophical standing. This is a question about your beliefs. The question is this: Do people, at their core, ever change, or do people simply adapt their demeanor to their surroundings? Is a person’s reaction to his or her surroundings actually a change in the person himself?
I don’t really know what to believe at the moment, but I certainly hope to recieve feedback here. Thanks in advance for your comments.
Also, I have this posted on my blog at www.morrowasted.com and at various other places, so I would appreciate if you would also leave your comments there so everyone can see them :smile3:.
That's funny and amazing at the same time.
I find this part really funny:
