As a Bloom player myself the deck doesn't need to be killed. It's honestly not that bad, the T2's rarely happen and the Titan can be answered. If they want to touch it, ban Hivemind and move on IMO. That's the stupid card that lets you "oops, I win". Random topdecks of that Enchantment just win it for you. If people are really complaining about a deck that turns a creature sideways to win then I'm not sure what to think. 75-80% of the games you win with Amulet are off of the back of Titan anyways. There is nothing unfair about winning through creature combat, and this is coming from a long time combo/control player.

I like how it is just as fast as affinity, but doesn't keel over to a pyroclasm.

    Gratz

LOL, quoted for truth. Was kinda wanting to play an Aggro deck that was not Affinity. Thank you Wizards for making this format way better then it was. For a while there Modern was feeling really stale.

Is it me or is Turn//Burn just freaking awesome? I know I have read some people's posts who say they do not like it. I just like the fact it is UR removal. It is really good against Thragtusk since the token does not get left behind. Am I missing something, or is this a really good card considering the colors it is in? It could be that I just want UR Control to be playable, but I really like this card.

lol @ naruto kid trying to justify combo. Dude, I pity you but just let it go .You will never be able to convince those who dislike/despise combo as to why it's fair despite how many facts/blocks of text you present us.

Storm was not fun. WotC pooped all over it. Now you have to run Twin/Pod/Eggs variants with the rest of us.

Despite all that. Control is now a REAL thing in modern. Praise Jesus Hallelujah! And with the said Combo has gotten WORSE because of the UWR presence. Eggs is cute but now we all know how it works. We're all prepared. So clearly Seething Song being banned looks even more ridiculous to us all after losing to UWR control/Eggs X amount of times now, right? ...Right?

Eh, I am not a kid, so do not treat me like one. I am not trying to justify combo. What I am saying is that I should be able to play what I enjoy. WotC needs to print answers, not ban a card just to make the problem go away. But they will not do this because it appeals more to the newer crowd. The new mass of players from around M10 have all been whining about combo this is overpowered and spell that is overpowered. Their mindset falls along the line of "I just want to attack with creatures and win that way. It's way easier to play the game if that is how people win". WotC does not care about their older players. They just want to keep milking the cash cow with the newer players. Us old timers can just go play Legacy or something. That is not the mindset they should be having. I am combating poor business practices as well as stupid format decisions. As for control, quit being delusional. WotC clearly does not want control to be playable in Modern. Whatever kind of control that is going around right now is some half-hearted wannabe that needs to be put out of its misery. Control is likely not going to be viable until we see some reasonable unbannings. I am not advocating JtMS, but a card like Ancestral Visions would be a great start.

And for the record, I played Eggs in Modern before storm. So I could give two cares less if Seething Song was banned. It is the principal that everyone seems to be missing.

As a combo player, pod is still appealing since it is a combo deck first that just happens to have a nice plan B. Yeah, it's creature based, but you still have to manage your life total against various decks and the more you play the deck, the more interesting lines you find when trying to combo off, especially in situations where you draw your phantasmal image or exarch/conscripts. It's certainly much more of a combo deck then scapeshift or melira pod.

While that may be true, it is not quite as combolicious as Second Breakfest/Eggs/Sunny Side Up in my opinion. My overall point in posting in this thread was to state how much crap combo has taken for no reason. Combo decks really aren't even that much of the metagame. Combo punishes every deck that is not ready to deal with it. If people sideboarded correctly and and quit committing to other matchups so much, players would not lose to combo as often as they do. Magic is a game of versatility. We should be able to play the game however we like. There are two kinds of players in Magic. Those who like to turn cards sideways and those who like to draw cards. We have way more of the former type over the latter. But the fact remains that combo eats way more dirt than it should. If people want to be greedy with their sideboards and not prepare for combo, then combo deserves to win. The whole concept is to prey on those who are not ready for it. By WotC jumping the shark and banning combo card after combo card, it isolates the players who want to play the innovative/surprise attack angle. Now all that is left is the aggro strategy and the control strategy (this is all hypothetical, I am not saying it is really this simple or bland). While I do love control and the skill it requires, it does not offer a surprise angle or uniqueness. Furthermore, if a player has a budget but craves skill intensive decks, combo is generally a cheaper option. The irony of WotC is just astoundingly funny. See if this makes any sense.

WotC Employee A "Hey, lets make a format like Legacy where we can have an eternal format using only cards in modern frames!"
WotC Employee B "That is a great idea man! This way we can also reprint some of the cards that way the barrier of entry is cheaper. We even get to include these reprints in sets to help sell boxes!"
WotC Employee A "Great, lets get started right away!"

    one year later . . .

WotC Employee A "Hey, we have run into a problem B."
WotC Employee B "What problem is that?"
WotC Employee A "It turns out this thing called a combo deck can actually win"
WotC Employee B "So what is the problem then?"
WotC Employee A "The deck is full of commons and can be built for $250"
WotC Employee B "We can't have that. We want people to buy our crap. Screw the entry barrier, bring on the bans for this combo thingy!"

That seems to be how it played out in my mind. Even if they do reprint cards like the shocks, it becomes utterly pointless when everything else doubles in value (see Fetches, Cryptic Command, Goyf, Thoughtsieze, Bob, Clique, Noble Hierarch).

To be quite honest, cheap combo can be the best entry deck for players looking to get into eternal formats. They are cheap, resilient if not prepared for, and can teach a player a lot. WotC wants people to come to their new format? Then I suggest they stop banning the decks that are cheap to play and start making reasonable bans on things that really need to be in check. Do not think I am just a whiny budget player either. I have been playing for 10 years and could easily build any deck between Modern and Standard. My point is WotC is a bunch of ironic people that contradict themselves at every turn.
