Fenrir Rex posted a message on Play now, pay more later or plan now, pay less laterI play immediately, with what I have available, to see if I even enjoy the theory of the deck. It typically crashes and burns epically, but if I still have fun while crashing I'll then start buying up better cards and staples for it.Posted in: Commander (EDH) -

I play u/b draw go. Could have played better if I knew match ups. I missed a batterskull trigger. I thought he comes in with the token. My opponent said "no you miss your trigger". Just small miss plays turn into me losing. First time playing competitive modern. Definitely a learning curve. I'm getting better every match
Your opponent was a jerk, that's totally rude.
Haha, great minds think alike. -

I used the control shell to start and moved towards I guess a more tempo/delverish list.
My list currently looks like this:
(I made this because I wanted a place to play curious homunculus)
I'm missing 2 spells and they're really flex spots, any opinions?

Jusstice posted a message on MetalworkerIt is another one of those cards like Staff of Domination where it was part of an infamous combo at the time EDH was gaining traction, was banned in a couple of constructed formats, and so the RC took the cue that it probably should be banned in casual. But it happens to be one of those cards that's only very troublesome with redundancy, specifically redundancy with itself, Staff, Mishra's Workshop, etc.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
But just on power-level, if you ban that combo, tons of other combos should be banned. And since even the format-defining combos for EDH are going to go unbanned, evidently, it made no sense to leave it banned. Rather than backpedaling on the policy of not banning tons of broken stuff, I guess the RC chose to backpedal on their decision to have ever intended originally to ban any combos in the first place.
The result, same as it ever was. People who want to win with a speedball combo before Turn 6 have way, way more efficient ways to do it in this card pool. They're still doing those and haven't switched to the Metalworker - Staff of Domination combo, for obvious reasons. But people with Daretti, Scrap Savant decks and the like, who just happen to have a $30 card lying around, are probably off to some pretty speedy starts with it. As long as they are using it to ramp up to Vicious Shadows instead of winning the game, things are ok for most people. Except for maybe Sheldon, who's said he dislikes Vicious Shadows.

Kankennon posted a message on [Clan] Clan Contest Mafia VIII - Homunculus Mafia - Game Over - Betrayal is the New BlackI would have so preferred one of the other town clans gotten Tracker instead of us (like, say TA) and we gotten the Vanilla card instead. Just being Kank is already a power role!Posted in: Mafia -

Raz Runi posted a message on [The Spirit of EDH]: Our Decks are Bigger Than YoursHey guys, you may not know me but I am a member of [REDACTED] and I wrote our entry for the recent Blockbusters Redux contest.Posted in: Retired Clan Threads
I would first and foremost like to commend you on your efforts in said contest. It takes quite a bit to put out creativity in such a public manner and I am proud of you for doing so. Each entry was well done and entertaining in it's own right and you should be proud of what you submitted. Thank you for sharing it with all of us.
I would also like to thank you for taking the time to not only share your creativity with me but to also allow me to see some of the fellow writers and creators here on Sally. I am absolutely thrilled to know that there are others like me on these forums. Know that I consider all of you both peers and friends. If any of you would like to contact me and “talk shop” I would love to hear from you. Drop me a line in my inbox here on the site and I will be more then happy to get back to you as soon as possible.
Also, don't let the fact that you may not have won stop you from continuing in your writing. You all showed that you can do well if you are given the opportunity. With that in mind I can only imagine what you can do if you continue to use your talents. So please, continue with what you are doing and I promise I will encourage you all the way.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your creativity with us and thank you for the good reads. Hopefully we can do it again sometime. -

Jivanmukta posted a message on [[Official]] Unreleased and New Card DiscussionPosted in: Commander (EDH)Quote from xbinoxMaybe you need to think of it from a flavor perspective. Here is a master tactician whom is also a bird. When he is "killed" it was already part of his plan. He knows what is going to happen 3 steps ahead of his opponents, so he ducks out for a bit, swoops out of combat. He does this knowing that at the perfect moment he can swoop back in because it's all part of his plan. He doesn't "die" he just backs off and comes back with an empyrical vengeance.
"Vorthosian swoon"
But yea, the "command zone" and "death" aren't so clear cut in magic. Zones are sometimes just names and not representative of what happens in flavor context. -

Mr. Cthulhu posted a message on [[COMM]] Oloro, Ageless AsceticPosted in: The Rumor MillQuote from xbinoxThis guy's comment needs to be answered, I'm on the edge of my seat about this.
I'm guessing it's the oversized card, seeing how if it's a normal-sized card, that box wouldn't fit the rest of the deck very easily... - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

That's because back in the day the sharpshooter was a staple not a hidden gem. How the mighty have fallen.

Also, 3drinks has a point Krosan Grip is far from the strongest green card in edh.

I stand corrected!

Thanks Hatter, I think it'd be better for someone who can put more time into the clan to have the opportunity. I too believe Gabgab would be a great addition to the elder dragon team!

Digging the brion stoutarm, I'd love to see a list, I've been wanting to play red white but could never find a general with an ability I liked. Flavor was always good and I love Agrus Kos, but the abilities were boring. Brion seems close though.
Also I second the planeswalker control deveri deck
