Just a guess, but outside of promotion materials, I can't imagine a better excuse to reprint the P9 in a non-tournament legal form than Archenemy.
From a different angle, I recall an article in the Duelist about Magic in Japan. There was a "demon's challenge" league that had players challenge each other for tokens that would allow them to confront a "demon boss" who wielded some broken powers. There was also a "mini demon" that players could challenge for special tokens that would give them an edge while fighting the "boss demon". I wonder if Archenemy might be adapted for something like that as well.

Regarding the Old Ones, weren't they mostly unique anyway? Cthulhu, Cthugha, and Ithaqa had little in common for example. Check it out.
