And here I thought I covered myself by saying supposedly. You're right though, it doesn't actually say returning, just one new.

The guy you heard it from, and the guy he heard it from are probably misinformed. Also read the card stardust linked. That's less blood magic and more "let me take that hit for you with my physical body bro."
    Just sayin'

I wish there was an option for none of them. We already zero new walkers, and Sorin is pretty much guaranteed for one of the next two sets. How 'bout some new walkers?

Have you read the topic this one is based off of? We're supposedly getting a new walker in roll but since we have no idea (no good one at least) who this new person is it's hard to have a poll option for walker x. This topic is about a returning character, which we're also supposedly getting.

Sangromancy, Sorin's magic of choice, is actually white. Just sayin.

Care to explain your train of thought? The only cards coming to mind involving blood magic have been black. I get the feeling you might be confusing sangromancy with healing white magic.

Sorin could very well be B/R in Dark Ascension, not because he's changed or anything, but he's now using a set of abilities that would fall partially under red. Tezzeret was initially monoblue, but was blue/black in his incarnation on Mirrodin. A similar thing could happen with Sorin, here. Each planeswalker card represents the walker showing up, willing to use only certain abilities, so DKA's Sorin could be one more willing to use Red abilities. The color change doesn't necessarily have to represent a paradigm shift or anything.

Tezzeret changed, so I'm not sure he'd be the best example to use. I'm not sure if we've gotten a walker card with a color shift that also coincided with a personality shift, but it'll probably happen eventually.

I understand what you're saying, and I accept that you think that way. I wouldn't call you a troll even if our way of thinking was different. Actually, I think we have somewhat similar views on gravity. I know something is out there that's keeping me down here. The thing is, I think it's gravity. It's just that there isn't any math to it that we've found. Yet.

As for Ob, I thought it was just a plausible theory because I didn't know that some people were connecting the fact that he was an oldwalker with the fact that oldwalkers weren't physical beings, and that whatever they looked like was, as Barinellos put it, personal aesthetic. That's what I was trying to say in the first part of the of the post you quoted.

I hope you have a nice day too ^^

    Quote from Barinellos
Who wasn't a demon when he had a spark.
Oldwalkers weren't physical beings. Whatever form they chose was a personal aesthetic. When Ob lost his spark, he was trapped as a demon, but he wasn't originally one.

Oooh. I get it. This explains a lot. I saw posts where you basically said it was a fact that Ob took the form of a demon, and then I would think to myself, "was that stated in the Q&A somewhere?" I didn't know that you were making that conclusion due to the definitions of an oldwalker (which I am clearly not too familiar with.)

    Quote from Kyrillos
Plausible theory it may be, but it may not be gravity that holds us to the Earth, but some unknown force with similar properties.

So apparently I'm wrong and it's not a plausible theory, but an actual thing. Guess that means gravity does hold us to earth? Wait, that connection makes no sense.

Where is this even noted anywhere in the lore? If I remember correctly, all the Zendikar book did was mention Nissa and Sorin's nature walk while the Eldrazi tore up the plane, and Ob Nixilis was never even mentioned.

Official Zendikar Q&A transcripts (and Doug Beyer) state that Ob is an oldwalker, the thing about him choosing the form of a demon is just a plausible theory as far as I know. The transcripts also say that his story has been dropped, so we should really stop bringing him up as if he was some kind of defense for anything because he's officially in limbo and it seems like his only purpose now is for people to be wrong or misinformed about him.

    Dinosaur planeswalker.

Only if Karn is allowed to ride on it. While dual-wielding spears. Fighting nazis.

What is this? What are you trying to say?

    Quote from TK-421
I realize he's the exception, but the point is that he has managed to gain two sparks over the years. We've also seen a similar situation in Mirrodin with Glissa's spark (to Slobad). So he's hardly an exception. An angel having a spark thrust upon it somehow (they have ghost catching machines!) is entirely possible.

Glissa and Slobad are also exceptions. I agree with you though. An angel somehow having a spark is entirely possible, and if the creative team can tell a good story by making and using an angel planeswalker (same for a demon pw) then I'm all for it.

For the people who keep saying wotc can do whatever the hell they want with the story: This is true. They're allowed to do what they want. It's their job. This may just be me though, but I like that this ridiculously large game has continuity to it. While wotc can do whatever they want, I trust them to create entertaining stories that can still follow any rules they have established. Although if they feel the need to change something or retcon something for the sake of telling a good story then I won't mind that too much. It's just that I think they can make Avacyn and that demon whose name I can never remember(and this may hurt my point lol) interesting characters without having to make them planeswalkers. Not everything has to be a planeswalker to be cool.

    Quote from Killuha
We are already turning corpses into blue Zombies, I think that this is one of the most flavourful mechanics wotc has ever printed...

Took me a minute to get what you're saying. At first I was thinking, "Well yeah the flavor behind blue zombies is that they're made from different parts, but I don't think that's what the topic creator is looking for." Then I realized you were probably talking about the thing where you have to exile creatures to bring in some of those skaabs, which makes a lot of sense. Still it's not really what he wants, but hey, we still got two more sets. Maybe something will come up, but keep in mind wizards is apparently paying homage to those old horror movies, so they might not necessarily feel like appealing to the 80s and 90s horror movie crowd.

As for the werewolf thing, I think this week's StF article says something about how the curse isn't spread by bites or scratches, but by nature being pissy, so I don't know how that would work (well) as a card.

You just had to do it didn't you? You just had to say it? Even though (to me at least) wotc has made it pretty clear they're doing their best to distance themselves from Homelands you just had to bring up the possibility of Baron Sengir in INN? I kinda wish there was a candlejack like thing that would take away a person anytime he or she mentions the baron in Innistr-

In all seriousness though, I was totally expecting someone to bring up the sengir link as soon as I read that part of the transcript. You're right though, all we can do is wait and see how it goes down.

I don't know what page you guys are looking at, but the one in front of me says she wasn't a planeswalker, and hasn't been edited for about a week. Although, the source link doesn't take me anywhere, so I had to use wizards' search bar. Scroll down til you find Marit Lage if you want word of creative.

I don't know. With her personality I kinda expect Chandra to be the one attacking all out while Gideon is forced to cover her back because she's too busy blowing stuff up to pay attention to her surroundings. Plus Gideon's card is basically "let me take that hit for you bro" so yeah.

Yes! This improves the odds of my theory being correct (I.e. naturally generated mana entities can have a spark). Wink

I'm sure you're only saying this to be funny, hence the winky face, because let's face it the theory I posted that I in no way take credit for is waaaaaaaaaaaay more plausible than yours given the rules creative has established for this game. Still, I have this overwhelming urge to punch a wall right now. Possibly introduce my palm to my face, and then slam said face into a desk. All the while screaming RUMOR MIIIIIILLLLL!!! until my roommate comes downstairs to slap me. You make me feel this way kris, and it isn't a fun feeling *winky face*

Okay seriously, the link I posted neither helps or hinders your theory. I was just posting it because some people didn't know Ob was an oldwalker. Right now the only thing I regret is learning that Innistrad's river has giant sea serpents in it, because my only argument that Kiora wouldn't show up was that there was no sign of sea monsters until today's stf article, and now I feel like sampling my shorts.

  • posted a message on So Niv-Mizzet is a planeswalker?
Kalkris: I think Skibo is talking about this post. It's not really a rebuttal, as this isn't really a debate. It's more like "you're wrong and here's why" broken into seven parts for our viewing pleasure

    Quote from Skibo
    No,

    1) He fleed the battle because he was wounded by the nephilim.
    2) He fleed to his aviary in the south. He ran from the city.
    3) He ran away while the guildpact was still around. The Guildpact which makes planar travel impossible.
    4) He's still on Ravnica (as confirmed by Brady).
    5) He doesn't need to be a planeswalker, he's badass enough as is.
    6) Being in DotP doesn't mean you are a planeswalker. Rhys was in the game.
    7) The Paruns knew of planeswalkers, and used thier technology. It was never, ever, ever implied that any of them were planeswalkers.

Niv-Mizzet is not a planeswalker. He's the smartest being on Ravnica. He could probaly build a planar gate if he wanted to.

EDIT: Found the quote can was looking for. Going through the rest of his posts, one can also find where he stated Rhys isn't a walker. So yeah.
