I think the name of this thread speaks for itself. If you know the top 8 for a specific Regionals (name it in your post), list what decks were in it. As well, if you can I might add, give a small description of the field. As a final request, give a rough estimate of how many people were in attendance (can tell us if either 4 or 8 invitations were given). At Mid-Atlantic Regionals around 380 players were in attendance (4 invites), and there was an insane amount of Tooth and Nail and red in the field. Some kid was 3-0 with a non-Erayo+Rule of Law based Affinity deck (straight up Affinity with whatever was left), and Tooth was definitely among the top tables.
Edit: An information source has told me that there was around 3 Tooth and Nail decks and he believes 3 red decks in the top 8. The rest was unknown to him.
Flores Red for me as well, though I'm not going to expect a 5-0 start. Take what you can get, know your deck, and hope to have fun and get a few rating points along the way.
Actually, Olivier Ruel has 57 pro points. The one on the Wizards website hasn't been updated since PT: Atlanta. Since then he has a GP Top 16, this GP win, and the PT: Philly Top 4.
I personally use mox affinity:
4 Great Furnace
4 Seat of the Synod
4 Vault of Whispers
3 Blinkmoth Nexus
3 City of Brass
4 Ornithopter
4 Arcbound Ravager
4 Disciple of the Vault
4 Arcbound Worker
4 Frogmite
4 Somber Hoverguard
4 Chrome Mox
4 Thoughtcast
4 Cranial Plating
4 Shrapnel Blast
2 Welding Jar
Sideboard:
4 Mana Leak
4 Seething Song
4 Terror
3 Furnace Dragon
Darksteel is clearly the most powerful because of two cards that would change type 2 (and shape the future of extended) forever:
-Skullclamp
-Arcbound Ravager
Fifth Dawn has a couple of good cards (Eternal Witness and Rude Awakening), but they weren't nearly as ridiculous as Skullclamp and Ravager during Regionals.
Mirrodin has to come in a close 2nd because it made the extended format that year ridiculously fast and caused the Japanese to use Gilded lotus in Twiddle Desire. Thus, the deck today was caused by Mirrodin. Second, the Tinker Stax deck (President Bosh) was simple ridiculous and made the format last only a few turns. Thus, we see a load of bannings.
