@Klug - Love your work very clean lines!! I have been thinking of doing a Loony Tunes set here in the future. On that note, are you using a marker for your black lines? If so what type, sizes do you use? I just picked up a .005 for doing the outlines as using a brush is really hard keeping the lines tight. Keep up the great posts thats why I keep coming back.

Thanks for the reply Klug that is the marker I got.

Here is one from me. This is the ****Censored**** version as the one I posted earlier got *Sniped*, I added the red bra in Photoshop, to fit in with the no topless requirement. This is my third card what do you think.

For those using the "Golden Fluid Acrylics" do you still thin them out? The paint still feels a little thick.

I know the Anime thing is not to everyone's liking but iI figured I would try it out.

Not sure why I got a *snip*, I have seen way more racy things on this site. There were no exposed breast, you could hardly see the bulg!! but cheeks or anything. I thought it was more tasteful and no less revealing than much of the artwork on regular cards. PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR REASONING!

And this post is spam. If you take issue with moderation, the thread is not the place to complain. Take it up with me via PM or help desk.

Here is what i have been thinking about in regards to a life counter.

I was thinking that using a craft punch such as the one in the pict

that you could print the numbers on a label (waterproof) then stick it to a heavy paper or plastic, use the craft punch 1.5" to cut the shapes out. I think the scallop shape would be the best because it will give traction for rotating the wheel. Here is a pict of the wheel

    Left Wheel
    Right Wheel

Then using eyelets and an eyelet tool to secure the wheel to the top sheet.
    A picture of the eyelets.

I used a random image for the top sheet probably print it on a laser onto a waterproof label then stick it to a random land. Attach it to another MTG land as the backer. Here is a mock up image of what one could look like. The colored wheel was so that I could set the number right.

I use "Aleene's Tacky Glue" in a gold bottle which can be bought at really any arts/craft store, this product looks similar to the Elmer's brand that serrot_29 recommended so either should work. This is a great all around glue that is thicker than regular Elmers and will therefore not run out as fast. I spread it on thin with a piece of cardboard (MTG card cast offs, etc.) then hand press or press together with a book. I have used a brush as well and just rinsed it really well when done but I get better results from spreading it with a piece of card (which i can throw away after). The nice thing with the tacky glue that it is still a little pliable allowing you to scrape/peel it off the card for a little while before it sets up. this allows you to more easily clean up the edges, etc.

I have used the spray glue but it tends to cause a bit of over spray causing dust etc. to collect on the layers edges, over time this has caused some issues on my earlier works as they start to look fuzzy, it is also hard to use on smaller pieces.

Need some community input on typical design stuff. In an image like this would it be more typical to blank out the original image like the left side or an overlay like on the right (Photoshoped). I like the leaf above the glass, I know it is a personnel preference question, but am honestly curious as to your design choices.

Thanks in advance for any responces.

@6jerfz - LOL that is funny because that's how I felt, thanks for pointing it out. Although sometimes low self esteem drives me to fish for comments, each to there own I guess, I will take your comment under advisement and not underestimate peoples observational powers, nor bog the forum down with unneeded posts.

Nobody got my Fastbond reference so I am now showing it, but hey i will get better, and I realize that Fastbond is not that popular of an oldy.

Sorry for being so blatant but I figured somebody would get it, and probably would have if I had not said anything.

@Moil - I noticed that my color pencil can come off as well. I have not experimented all that much with pencil, as I am new to this as well but if it sticks long enough to do the work, once you spray clear coat on the card, the color should all stay on.

    @ Omega Wolf

Man those tokens are sweeet! Fantastic job.

I am working on a "Fling" life counter hope to have it posted in the next few days. I really like the depth you can get with the non-life counters. I am altering my technique a little and adding more to the box in layers that float instead of attached to the sides, because I am using high density cardboard in between the card layers for bead depth. Hope to make them pop a little more.

Here is a Mana Leak that I have been working on. Any tips would be helpful thanks.

Great posts everyone, I enjoy seeing all the creativity an beatiful art.

I have a couple of questions:

    1) Do any of you use mixed media? Colored pencils, markers etc in your art?

    2) If so do you have any rules of thumb you go by? I know it is a lot about experimentation which I am all about, but if i can learn some short cuts and not spend a lot of time reinventing the wheel that is always good.

    3) I am having a hard time getting some of the finer details I see in your guys art work. I am using good amount of layering and using a 00 brush but having a hard time getting fine details and color mixing (transitions) what type of brushes do you guys use? Brand? Sizes? my 00 seems really long on the bristles and is therefore floppy, do you use a stiff brush?

I know a lot of questions never get answered on here (1400 pages of reading will show that) , but i do appreciate those individuals that answer questions furthering the art and helping out the community and noob.

For those of you that celebrate Thanksgiving I hope you have a good one. I hope to have a new full art card posted next week for your review.
