Small Time Crooks left a particularily bad taste in my mouth for Woody Allen. I will keep an open mind though since it is receiving IT endorsement.
The cold medication I am taking makes me rather drowsy and incredibly loopy. I think it shows. Night.
**** Small Time Crooks, Curse of the Jade Scorpion, and Hollywood Ending -- his last three comedies that were in the theaters. If you haven't seen Annie Hall, Manhattan, Hannah & Her Sisters, Deconstrucing Harry, Sleeper (hell, even Bullets Over Broadway and the Purple Rose of Cairo), you're in no position to judge the man's work. Absolutely brilliant. Deconstructing Harry, while a clear rip-off of Ingar Bergman's Wild Strawberries, is the last great movie he's made. Go out and rent it if you haven't seen Annie Hall and Manhattan. Please.
@Sen: I do think this sounds awkward. So I have no need to try it, then?
Woody Allen is coming out with a new movie. I'm...excited. I have felt let down by him by such mediocre (but still superior to most modern comedies) films like Curse of the Jade Scorpion, but this one is supposedly on par with Manhattan, or at least Annie Hall. The thing is...it's not a comedy; nor does Allen appear in the picture; nor is it set in New York. This is, needless to say, quite the change of pace. It's a psychological thriller set in London. I'm perplexed and intrigued. And, it's getting rave reviews, apparently.
This may be a sign of good things to come.
It looks fantastic. <3 Woody Allen. He hasn't made anything decent since Deconstructing Harry. Everything else has been horse ****. Though Melinda and Melinda wasn't all that bad. But I look forward to the new one.
Congrats to Furor for his recent super powers. Rock on Nick!
Congrats to Senori for his promotion as well.

Went to the eye doctor to get some new glasses today. Looking forward to have some new ones. I woke up on Sunday morning to the most awful sound of our new puppy chopping on my current ones. ****.
I know both of those people. They were friends of mine all the way through our elementary school gifted program.
Out of curiosity, I wonder what kind of "pills" he took. 'Cause that ain't right. I'm sorry to hear about this really.
On a lighter note, for those who have more than a passing interest in the Legacy format: you're all welcome to participate in my contest @ TMD: Lille Prediction Thread. Prizes will be awarded, some of which are still being worked out behind closed doors in the Adept Lounge. My prizes are an in-joke with the TMD crowd, since I'm a notorious basher of the card I'm signing and altering. <- What nerds do with a slow Saturday morning.
Otherwise, I've got some work to do on my car so it will pass inspection. My registration expired in August or something. And when it comes to managing car-stuff, I'm an unrepentant failure. I hate cars. Deeply and truly; but in the 'burbs, you're not given a lot of options.
@ Furor - I read your review of Narnia. Well done.
Wow, thanks to all who voted for me and my nomination votes. I was in a MTGS hiatus when the nominations were all going down and I should have been more engaged. Sorry about that.
I made my votes public, but I certainly hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings. This is still the best damn clan around.

I've had to abstain from the Funniest Member vote because I don't ever read any posts by the other nominees, and I'm certainly not going to vote for myself. :/
I voted for you, but if Denver was up there, I would have had to flip a coin or something.
And I voted for T2 for best Clan Member. Also Prizm got a vote for best 'custom title' (though I still think my "Just Getting Started..." titles was the best); and voted for Goblinboy for best mod -- who really does a fantastic job.

And, on the same score, I am shocked to be nominated for Best Avatar. I don't get it at all.
Equally curious is your nomination for Best Member. wtf was that about.
Eko was on the drug plane. The preview last week seems to suggest this. This would explain, for example, how he is so competent in the jungle when everyone else is not. Locke can't even step to him. The reason for his prowess is that he's been there for ages.
Spot on. There's more to that plane than as a foil for what's-his-name's drug problem. That's an utterly plausible scenario. And I'll bet it was him that led the 'tail section Lost-ers' to the Dharma Initiative cave where they found the reel-to-reel. Anyway, nice "find" Furor.
Bardo, also a good pick but I don't recall a particular thread in which he stood out enough and pwnd the whole crowd. Me, yes, not an entire thread though.
If I pwned anyone in any threads, it was the various anarchism threads that have popped up from time to time. But that's really beating monkeys in barrel, since the depth of ignorance on the topic apparently knows no bounds. A pity, really.

Going to see Narnia later today. I hope it will be good. I'd hate for The Lion King to remain the best secularised Christian children's movie when the very darling of the JuvChristLit movement ought to have stolen the crown.
I heard it was dreadful. And the director really overdid the Jesus-Aslan symbolism. Apparently, it pales to LoTR, despite what the ads make you think.
What I would like to see, is that the people who supported Saddam, and helped him to gain the power to torture and kill thousands of innocents would be put on trial as well.
In that picture, I loved the depth of the snowflakes, there are hundreds of them; and some you can't see unless you zoom in closely. And if you look at the building in the bottom right, you can see the top of the door to a ladies' bathroom. We were at some sort of "bathroom lodge" at the moment. Or something...

I am strangely pleased with Michael Kamen's "American Symphony" from Mr. Holland's Opus. I haven't seen that movie in years, but here's the song on my computer somehow. Oh well. Delightful!
Oh man did I despise that movie. I'm talking deep-seated loathing. For me to enjoy American Symphony I'd have to drink so much beer that I was deaf.

Been a while since I've posted here, but I wanted to stop by and say "Hi!"
I was promoted to mod of the Legacy Forums at The Mana Drain last week, and I've been pretty busy handling all that stuff.
Anyway, cheers and be well.
Congrats for Furor for winning Best Debater! Did any other ITers win awards?
Congrats to Senori for his promotion as well.

I guess we really get to see the essense of "justice system" in the US: "We don't care if you reform yourself."
I find this troubling and depressing news.
Sounds like me.
