You have been given a direct quote of a disgraceful chatroom correspondence, but it's just an anomaly to you. It is not an anomoly, it is business as usual.

I just wanted to address this really fast, because this is one of the reasons that I'm posting in this thread.

CXA pasted his chatroom convo in the... I'll quote it here:

    <mib_hsiptc>: anyone here?
    <McDuff>: 203.58.18.96
    <Urza>: nope
    <McDuff>: quick rejohin
    <sloppy_joe>: no
    <Noodle_Mage>: 76.22.52.253
    <mib_hsiptc>: ?
    <Noodle_Mage>: peni?
    <Noodle_Mage>: coming?
    <mib_hsiptc>: uh, right...
<mib_hsiptc>: so i'm looking for a [WWK] game definition
    <mib_hsiptc>: anyone have it?
    <mib_hsiptc>: is that a no?
<mib_hsiptc>: because the forum says to come here.
    <mib_hsiptc>:alright, thanks for the help

Assuming that hsiptc is CXA, he actually starts off the convo rudely. Anyone with a small amount of social grace wouldn't start off a conversation with, "anyone here?". So, getting off on the wrong foot, then getting mad because they respond in kind... eh, I can certainly see why they weren't helpful.

Btw, just to prove a point, here is my convo from this afternoon:

    <Tebbo>: LOL
    <Tebbo>: ok
    <Tebbo>: From now on
    <mib_vxov5m>: hello
    <Tebbo>: let's establish a 0 pm rule
    <Tebbo>: no pm's
    <Tebbo>: it takes too long
    <Tebbo>: and it causes crashes
<corby>: it crashed when i tried to add a loyalty counter
<mib_vxov5m>: i had a question about installing and running mtg OCTGN 2
<mib_vxov5m>: is the best place to get the updated definitions from mediafire?
<mib_vxov5m>: or is there another place i should look at?
    <Tebbo>: yes dude
    <Tebbo>: get those there
    <corby>: get everything from mediafire
    <Tebbo>: it's not a complete list
    <Tebbo>: but there' st2
<Tebbo>: and everyone here pretty much plays t2
    <mib_vxov5m>: ah, ok
<mib_vxov5m>: any plans for older sets?
<Tebbo>: corby, I didn't really like your deck
    <corby>: hey teb
<mib_vxov5m>: or just t2 right now?
    <corby>: sorry tebbo
<Tebbo>: what did you think about mine?
    <Tebbo>: quick eh?
    <corby>: i like the idea
<mib_vxov5m>: i heard they're adding booster drafting too
    <corby>: wanna do a 1v1 teb?
<mib_vxov5m>: but they're holding that back until they redo the octgn 2 coding?
<werevamp>: They should add older sets too
    <Tebbo>: ok corbz
    <Tebbo>: 70.180.90.228
<werevamp>: they had them but just moved to version 1.0 where they had to redo the sets
    <mib_vxov5m>: ah
    <Tebbo>: they made a patcher
<Tebbo>: but no one can figure it out
    <mib_vxov5m>: hah
<Tebbo>: cuz I don't have the source code
<Tebbo>: if I had the source I could prolly do it
    <corby>: tebbo
    <corby>: cant join
    <Tebbo>: ?
    <Tebbo>: 70.180.90.228
    <Tebbo>: ?
*** Tebbo was kicked by helios.ircstorm.net (Flooding (Limit is 3 lines per 5 seconds))
    <werevamp>: ask brine
    <mib_vxov5m>: =p
<mib_vxov5m>: alright, thanks much for the infoz

Not exactly welcoming me with open arms, but answered the questions I had very quickly. I know this is a mtg forum, not one on proper social etiquette, but sometimes it's a good idea to put the cards down and go out and talk to people.

Maybe it's just me, but it honestly seems like people are having alot of trouble installing something that's very simple. Here I'll outline the steps I followed to get everything up and running in 30 minutes:

    1. Read the first post of this thread. Found that it was last edited on March of this year, so figured that if this product was still in development, then the installation instructions were probably out of date.

    2. Went to http://www.octgn.net/downloads.php and followed the extremely simple instructions: installed .NET 4, restarted my computer, then clicked the OCTGN 2 installation link on the same page.

    3. Followed the http://www.mediafire.com/sets link that was posted on the first page. Navigated to the OCTGN 2 - Game Defintions/Game Definition v1.0 directory and downloaded Magic v1.0 and Markers v1.0

    4. Went back to the main directory and then to the OCTGN 2 - Sets/Single Set Files and downloaded the sets I was interested in playing.

    5. Installed OCTGN 2, clicked Manage Installed Games and installed the Magic v1.0 file and the sets.

That was it. Literally, took me only 30 minutes. No, I didn't download the torrent -- I used a little common sense and spent 5 minutes looking at the development updates and realized any torrent that was last updated 3 months ago would be worthless.

Seriously, Gaspare is trying to be alot more helpful than most of the other posters who are crapping on this thread -- the same ones who are too lazy to spend a few minutes doing some simple research to save themselves alot of headache.

Just wanted to post my appreciation for this project. Took me about 30 minutes of reading and downloading to get everything all set up.

Was wondering though, is there any word on when booster drafting will be implemented?

not as p1p1, no. 4th or 5th pick (and assuming I'm playing blue)? definitely

he's by no means a bad pick, he just needs the proper deck support; people, however, seem to be debating his merits in a vacuum or as a "random pick" -- if you're picking a hedron crab, you better be picking sufficient milling cards to support him, otherwise he's trash.

the most fun i'd had w/ a hedron crab was in a u/g landfall deck:

    T1: land, hedron crab
T2: land (mill 3) and khalni heart expedition
T3: land (mill 3, add counter to khalni), harrow (mill 6, 2x counters to khalni, pop khalni, play 2 more lands, mill 6 more)

18 cards milled by turn 3.

Admittedly, this was a very ideal scenario, but this was based off of the only hedron crab i had (the rest of my deck was green beats w/ a focus on landfall acceleration). The next night, my friend who drafted a u/g landfall that had even more mill conditions went 3-0. Tough to beat when more than half your deck is gone by turn 4.

Personally, I love mill and try to test it out in every set, but this is easily one of the more viable sets that it would work in.
