Like what are the basic rules of EDH? How does the game compare to standard or extended? Is there a basic How To guide that gives me the basic gameplay information(not decklists) to get started that I may have missed?
He taps his dude for mana and casts a Vines of Vastwood to protect his dude
Does the attack go through since his creature is tapped before I even declare blockers? Can I still declare blockers? What if he's blocking and I try to kill him and he taps for mana? Does the block still go through?
Also what happens if tehy declare a blocker and I kill it? Does my creature still get blocked? How is damage dealt then?
How about lands that interact with with permanents?

I'm just frustrated that it has gotten to this point. It's too late now. From now on all we play is draft.
And it's a lot harder than just "lol meta game against it". You still have to play the same deck one right after the other. And we have 2 guys that play RDW. They got tired too. We're all just tired.
Since more people play Jund there's a higher chance that Jund will end up in the top 8. That's the problem we have. No one wants to play anything other than Jund because Jund is just a more consistent winner. It's good against almost every deck out there.
If you want to bash on me and call me names and whatever feel free to do so. I could care less what you think of me. I just want Wizards to help make it a varied field again by creating one or two cards that are reasonably costed and help wreck the cascade mechanic. Like Ethersworn Canonist with some sort of evasion.
so Wizards is supposed to tell you what decks to play? If everyone plays jund, can't you play something like Boros Bushwhacker? I hear it posts good results v jund. Or Spread 'Em, have some fun. I don't really mind standard right now, but i'm sure Worldwake will bring more cards, and that might open up the field.
No. I'm just hoping someone who has a voice sees this and can see what is happening. Jund needs hate. REAL hate, not that double negative thing. Faeries got conned by GSS. We need something similar. Just putting my thoughts out there.
Alright guys, I'm sure everyone has heard this before but T2 sucks at the moment.
This week at my local shop they have begun to implement a "draft only" policy because everyone there (about 30 or so) refuse to play standard anymore. I have heard of two other shops nearby also implementing this same policy. Not sure what you guys think about this, but I think this is a serious problem. No one wants to play T2 due to the fact that 60% of our field is Jund and after R1 all you see is mirrors. People have tried to shake it up to no avail.
I'm not whining, I just hope that Wizards sees this and understands what's happening. Everyone at the shop is basically praying that WW knocks Jund off of its high horse. Constructed just isn't fun anymore. Has anyone had any similar experiences with their local meta?
The card was strong before it was played, and it's strong now, it just wasn't played because of sheep like you who don't play a card unless it's already proven itself by winning a dozen major tournaments.
Sorry to get involved, but when did he say that? Now your making baseless attacks. Not once did he say Or imply that he ONLY plays cards that have won major tournaments. He says himself that he sees how VNH is a valid conclusion for some Jund players.
but the deck really died because of the loss of Elsewhere Flask. For it to be viable again we need another can trip artifact for the same mana cost as the flask come World Wake,
Does anyone else see the logical flaw here? We have people saying that we won't trust your opinion or card choices until you have actually won something major, and then we have people complaining that cards they playtested and proved bad were continually suggested by certain "bad" players. Hey maybe those "bad" players didn't trust your playtesting, Johm, based on the fact that 5c cruel never posted any "real" results?
Can't have it both ways, if you want to disregard ideas simply because they haven't been proven in a major tournament, you have to accept the fact that other people are going to disregard your ideas, unless you have actually won a real tournament yourself with those ideas. Saying you have playtested for hours isn't enough, obviously, just like winning a FNM isn't enough.
Logical flaw? I'm not on the same page as any of these guys. I am posting my ideas from my point of view. Listen to all the people that are saying "lol i suggested 'bad' cards but everyone called me stupid then some pro did it and now it's an amazing tech". Ever wonder why they listen to the pro and not to them? The pro has credibility. That's all I'm saying.
The counter has a stand, it is inteded to stand up between the players with one side facing each player, You is the player it is not facing, Me is the player it is facing...
The labels are correct.
Can't me and you both be interpreted to mean "the player the thing is facing"? It's a horrible choice of words. Saying Opponent would have been way better.
This thread sort of bothers my existence. I fully understand being a spike and the "winning is everything" mentality, however what I don't understand is the need to flame and call new players idiots for making a bad decision, Magic is a learning experience, and new players learn in time what decisions are good and what are bad ones, the world is already calling them idiots by showing them the consequences, you don't need to insult them by repeating that.
However, what I appreciate is constructive criticism, you know, "I think doing XYZ will help improve your deck, while I feel ABC will do very little for the deck." This is what I see most of the time around here, and that's what I think should be a constant.
The thing is that you don't make a distinction between being ignorant and being stupid. Elysium(or whatever the hell his name is) is pointing out the stupid people. Most new players are "ignorant" as in they don't know any better. I've been lurking here for a couple of months now and see this happen quite often. Some of them are genuinely asking for help or are making mistakes because they just don't have the knowledge that most players here have so something competitive to an ignorant player may not be optimal for a spike. The problem lies with the stupid people. I'm sure everyone here knows the difference between ignorant and stupid correct? Stupid people ask for help and suggest cards without testing and try to say that their card choices are superior to those of people who have tested their cards extensively and have posted results. When you stay with your card choice and argue it with no logic or testing behind it like you're some sort of Magic guru, then you are stupid.
Take your card, play in a tournament(a real one, no one respects FNMs like CorpT said) THEN people will listen to you. Build up some credibility before suggesting cards. Even if you found the world's greatest combo, why should they listen to you? This is also the solution to the whole "I suggested X card and people called me stupid but when it gets posted in Y tournament everyone plays it". If you have no credibility to back up your card choices why shouldn't they call you stupid for defending them. Let results speak for themselves. How many people thought about the Nissa Aggro(not the best example I know) archetype before it showed results at Nashville? Not many I can tell you that.
Shroud and no evasion does not make a good creature.
So you're implying Goyf is bad? And I'm assuming you meant no shroud.
On topic: I think the little guy has a lot of potential. Like many have stated, he gets past almost all of the current damage based removal. Let's see what else WWK brings us.
