Are, are they trying to make sui-black a thing again, because this is really good in aggressive monoblack decks.

I could see it, maybe in a graveyard based deck, but the triple green kind of shafts it outside of monogreen.
To be fair green is the color best equipped to splash+ for a color and still be able to cast triple-C cards.

True, but you have to lean pretty heavily into black for a graveyard based strategy, and that is considerably more than "a splash" and not conductive to its triple green cost. Such a deck would be unlikely to be competitive in Standard or Modern.

Isn't it weird how much tribal we got in Modern Horizons and now M20? I would think it's because the upcoming set has a big tribal component, but Modern Masters doesn't even affect that, so... Is it just some new approach to make the game more beginner-friendly? I'm not even sure if I like it or not, and this coems from someone who loves tribal. It's just so strange.

MH1 was tribal support for modern. There are a lot of tribal in the format (thanks to among other things Lorwyn/Shadowmoor), and there are a few tier 2 and tier 3 tribal decks in modern that needed a boost (such as Goblins for example).

Honestly you don't need red. Like, you get to add Ulasht, the hate seed to your deck and...maybe Apocalypse Hydra and that's about all I would consider. Hydras should be Simic if anything because you might as well enjoy the full wonders of big mana.

Rock Hydra and Molten Hydra are both good cards though.

As for the blue cavalier, that card is absolutely blufftastic! Do I want to draw those 2 cards back (please let my guy live) or is the top of my library dead (I benefit if this guy dies)? As both abilities are decent and the body is good, this cavalier may see some actual play.

If Brainstorm play patterns in Legacy are any indication, chances are that the top of your library is dead unless it's a card with Miracle or you shuffled it yourself.

As for the Knight, A brainstorm on a stick which recurs. Again proving that green got shafted hard in this cycle. Can't blame them though, the Titan and the Primoridal were both overpowered.

Latest I've seen in Modern is that Cavalier of Thorns actually provides good value in Modern. Sometimes, you get a nuts tempo boost because the land ETB untapped.

I could see it, maybe in a graveyard based deck, but the triple green kind of shafts it outside of monogreen. While it does potentially gives you a tempo boost, it also shunts a lot of things into the yard and most monogreen decks don't actually use the yard as a resource. Cavalier of Thorns is not a good card compared to the other Cavaliers, at least they are useful in monocolored strategies, in green you have better options for a five drop.

Holy heck! I just realized they've made Treasure a subtype!
    It always was.
It wasn't keyworded previously. They made it's function a part of its subtype. Look at the Rapacious Dragon's wording.
That's not what you said, though.

True, but that is what I get for posting when tired. >.<

Well, a Hydra tribal legend. To bad it is monogreen instead of Gruul, but it'll do for now. Grin

If core 2020 is a commander teaser than we have Naya with Multi-color matters, Abzan with Legendary tribal, Jeskai or at least Azorius with Fyling tribal, Temur with element tribal, white or Orzhov life gain and Sultai etb themed. Mardu could possible be the Fyling tribal deck, too because of Kaalia.

No that’s the obvious themes and there’s a lot of each in the set what we want to look at is the less obvious

    For example

There’s a lot of spirits in the set and the fans were not happy with O-Kagachi, the vengeful kami since it’s under powered and doesn’t have spirit tribal synergy so they could be doing it for real with 5-color spirit tribal

Second Marauding Raptor could hint your creatures being dealt damage matter that could be the naya deck
To say what I’m talking about these creatures are good examples

And there’s two sub-themes that could happen first is a excuse to make more dinosaurs for the fans since enrage is a thing second a wolf/werewolf legend they all Ben waiting for since we want a werewolf tribal legend and ulrich was a disaster and Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves wolf tribal and damage matters

To bad the pythohydra and the nest both get killed by the raptor. Frown

As for Tolsimir, we did get a Wolf/Werewolf lord in M20. They should honestly just give us a Naya wolf tribal legendary instead of teasing us like this.

They don't really want to cross the "streams" so to speak, they only did the guildmaster's guide to Ravnica because people has been bugging them for a D&D campaignsetting based on MTG for nearly over decade.

That said, it is far from impossible.

We just need to bug them for years to make a D&D set
class-tribal set with beholders, it's not a bad idea at all. Please wotc cross the streams!

Well, Sword of Dungeons and Dragons was supposed to make Beholder tokens originally...

Of course, if they did make a "crossover" in MTG between it and D&D, they'd have to add the Aberration creature subtype, because D&D fans would get angry if Aboleths, Beholders and Mindflayers were represented without it.

With Madness and easy token generation, this could be pretty good. But without it, limited fodder.

How about a Legends Matter theme? That is, Commander decks chock-full of legendary creatures and other cards.

That would be pretty awesome. Let's expand it and say "batching" instead. Each deck themed around a different "batching". One would be Historic (Legends primarily, a few sagas, and artifacts), one could be a batching of a specific group of creatures, such as Canines (batching Wolf, Hound, Fox, Jackal, and Werewolf for example), or maybe undead (Skeletons, Zombies, Vampires, Wraiths, Specters, Shades...). Could be fun.

Reprisal says this could be an Instant,
but I guess they weren’t feeling quite that saucy.

A shame, this could have been an EDH staple.

Still going to see play in white commander lists. It's still good removal.
