ahadabans posted a message on Blue Artifact RemovalI haven't always felt this way, but I feel like letting each color do what it does well is the best way to approach this. Unfortunately, that means blue lacks removal (outside counters and maybe some bounce). Blue does so many things well. Does it really also need answers to artifacts? That's sort of what splashing is about. If you build a deck and it might struggle with artifacts, well maybe you need to factor in a white/red/green splash to deal with artifacts? Again, I haven't always been in favor of this design - I went through a phase of trying to jam removal in each color (even bad removal). Now I just think this makes the color pie more meaningful and adds additional dimension to drafting.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -

MHD1892 posted a message on Print This Wizards (so I can put it in my cube)I'd still love to see more power in black at 5cc. Here's my stab at itPosted in: The Cube Forum
Creature - Zombie Knight
3BB
Lifelink
When ~ enters the battlefield, you may put any number of target creature cards from your graveyard with a combined power of 3 or less onto the battlefield. Those creatures are black zombies in addition to their other colors and types.
3/3
I think that's plenty strong (maybe too strong). If it's not, changing it to a 3/4 or giving it deathtouch would do it, I'd think.
Would also love to see a Boros spells matter card. Something like (this is probably busted):
Human Monk
RW
Prowess
Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, you may have ~ deal 1 damage to target creature or player and you gain 1 life.
2/1
For simic, an opposition on a stick:
Legendary Merfolk Wizard
2GU
When ~ enters the battlefield, create two 1/1 blue and green merfolk tokens.
Tap another merfolk you control: tap target permanent.
2/1
And for Rakdos:
Legendary Vampire Warrior
1BR
Haste
Flying, Double strike
Whenever ~ deals combat damage to a player, you may put a creature card from your graveyard with converted mana cost less than or equal to that amount of damage onto the battlefield tapped.

I thought enchantments were the weak spot for those colours? I could be wrong, I know Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker blows them up but he seems to be the exception.
That's true. I was thinking of how if you take black's removal and add red, it removes its restrictions, so if you were to also add blue, that would allow you to target any permanent. But yeah, there hasn't really been an example of this effect in these colors. Gixis so far hasn't really been given much to deal with non-creatures permanents, mostly its just card draw and discard in that shard. Enchantments probably should be non-interactable for grixis flavor-wise.
It feels like a push to say blue adds the ability to target anything to destroying a permanent. You could try something like
4UBR
Legendary Artifact Creature - Demon Dragon
Flying, Menace
When Replica of Bolas enters the battlefield or deals combat damage to a player, return target permanent to its owners hand. That player reveals his or her hand. You choose a card from it. That player discards that card.
5/5
It's maybe breaking the color wheel by trying to be too smart, but mechanically it fits and is stronger than destroying a permanent but serves the same function if that's what you need. You could make it one shot ETB but damage them equal to the cards CMC if you wanted more of a red feel. -

Maybe if you did it on entry and damage?
Replica of Bolas 4UBR
Legendary Artifact Creature - Demon Dragon
Flying
When Replica of Bolas enters the battlefield or deals combat damage to a player, destroy target non-enchantment permanent.

I know some people have cut Tooth and Nail from their cubes, so I don't think I'd consider Emrakul as support for that deck without it.
Totally. Emrakul + Zealous Conscripts or Surrak = GG, and now there's Samut too. That's part of the reason Samut appeals to me so much as well. -

It looks like you said no to this green 3 for 1. Harmonize.
Correction, good green 3-for-1 card advantage. I apologize for any confusion. -

wtwlf123 posted a message on Arcane Denial in Mono-BlueIdeally it goes into a deck that can take advantage of its 1U cost, but even in a blue-heavy deck, I'll still happily draft it and play it. Countering your own unneeded spell to get a smooth 3-for-2 is always fun.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -
