Ew, I wouldn't suggest Hexmage/Dark Depths in legacy. People have a lot of ways of stopping that combo.

And yes, Imprinting Orim's Chant is still an awesome move. You might want to look into the Mighty Quinn/Quinn the Eskimo if you wish to go that route and if budget isn't too big of a concern. It uses Isochron Scepter/Orim's Chant along with Moat and Wrath of God to control and wins with Painter's Sevant/Grindstone.

Definitely look over some decks in the proven competitive section. Especially make sure to look over Merfolk, Threshold, Zoo, and Goblins as those are some of the best performing decks in the format right now.

A really nice thing about Legacy is that there's a ton of tier 1 and tier 2 decks, so it's rather easy to find a deck that fits your playstyle, but it also means that there is a lot of research to do when getting into the format.

Same, I just thought I'd mention it for those worried about Burn.

For you guys playing white, instead of Harm's Way, do you think Sphere of Law might work? It's a little costly, but with Dark Ritual, it could hit pretty early, and it also benefits you against Goblins.

Ha, yeah, I probably should have reread the card before saying that. Yeah, not Trinisphere. There's still a lot in the deck to tap, though.

what kind of landstill? i know you said UWb, but there is still a lot of ways to build landstill. was he running vindicates, elspeth, edicts, crucible, decree, angel,..... no two builds are the same, and depending on his win condition and other choices, there are several different ways to combat him.

It ran Elspeth, Decree of Justice, Eternal Dragon and Mishra's Factories as kill conditions as far as I could see (he also wished for cards, so there might have been more in the SB). Those were backed up with 4 copies of Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile and 2-4 copies of Wrath of God and Engineered Explosives. He also had Nevinyrral's Disk which could become indestructible thanks to Elspeth. All of this was backed with tons of counterspells. The only black I saw main decked was Extirpate, so I'm thinking the splash was more for his sideboard to get Engineered Plague and whatever else. He also used Sensei's Divining Top, but didn't throw in counterbalance lock.

It was really just all the Creature removal and counterspells; I couldn't get anything to stick. Just wondering if there's something I could add to improve that matchup.

also, unless theres a lot of bobs or other x/1's in your meta, i'd have to say that funeral charm is pretty bad. i'd add the other two thoughtseizes and more duress/therapy. 4 extirpate main seems akward.

I'm assuming this part was also directed at me. Funeral Charm was kind of left-over from when I ran Bob. In addition to it's instant speed discard (which is pretty cool), it shined in being able to kill Bob if I was getting low on life. When I was playing that list, there was a lot of other lists using Dark Confidant and Grim Lavamancer, so I left it in, however I didn't see as many this time, so I am thinking of taking them out for two more Thoughtseize and something else. Extirpate I've been very impressed with, in addition to making Dredge not so terrible game 1 (though still unfavorable), it can help destroy manabases or remove threats. Really, I've been very happy with it and feel it goes great with all our disruption (though, I may cut it down to three to add either 2 Duress or 2 Snuff Out).

Your list looks good, iampachino. I think Leyline of the Void would be a better choice than Withered Wretch/Tormod's Crypt. Also, all your removal costs 3cc, which is very slow. Perhaps consider Snuff Out and/or Smother. Also, if you're only playing 2 Tombstalkers, I don't think you need 8 fetches. I find you can sufficiently feed 2 Tombstalkers and draw enough green mana with just four.
    ----

Also, I took this to a local tournament today and took 5th overall losing to WUB Landstill and RB Goblins.

Since combo is pretty much nonexistent in my meta right now, I'm going to
    -2 Sadistic Sacrament
    +1 Engineered Plague
    +1 Krosan Grip
to help my matchup against Goblins and other various tribal decks.

Any advice on how to improve my landstill matchup? Other various help is appreciated as well.

Another card to consider is Tangle Wire. It works great to your advantage since you can tap it and cards like Smokestack, Trinisphere, and bottled Cloister, where your opponent probably won't have as many non-land non-creature options.

And I think the idea is to sacrifice the Ensnaring Bridges to Smokestack when you're ready to play Inkwell Leviathan/Darksteel Colossus. However, I really don't feel they're necesary as your opponent won't have any permanents around when you attack so you could just swing with Factory and Metalworker. Darksteel Forge could be an option to add, so that all your creatures become mini-colossi. Nevinyrral's Disk is also funny with Darksteel Forge, if you add it.

Thanks, I only took seventh overall, but made some adjustments, and am hoping to do better tomorrow.

Your list looks very good. However, I've never been too big of a fan of Nantuko Shade as a four-of; have you considered a 3/3 split between Shade and the Nighthawk? I'm also curious why you're running Swords/Path as a 3/1 split. I'm sure you have a reason, I'm just wondering if you find it has an advantage over running 4 StPs.

If you control something with a sacrifice effect, and a creature with 0 toughness comes into play under your control, can you sacrifice it before it goes to the graveyard?

For example, if I control Engineered Plague naming Goblin, and my opponent casts Siege-Gang Commander, can he sacrifice the 0/0 goblin tokens to Siege-Gang Commander before they're destroyed?

I played a Dark Depths deck a few weeks ago and won 2-1 without a white splash.

What you have to remember is that our disruption is very good against combo. As Dalkon said, they try to drop both pieces on the same turn, but Hymn and other spells make holding onto a card very dangerous for them. So the goal game 1 should be to either force them to discard their combo, or make them play it at different times so you can either destroy the vampire or land before the other drops. Game 2, as Keiichi said, you get Plague to stop the vampire from sacing itself.

If they manage to drop the 20/20, it's pretty much good game, unless they're at low life, in which case you might be able to block with a Tombstalker or Specter for a turn or two while you lay Tarmogoyf beats, but that's less than desirable.

Have you ever tested that deck with living death etc.?

I cannot imagine the deck to be very good. You will get eaten alive against the DTB's

Haven't tested it yet, I'll try sometime this weekend and see if it can work.
