She's very good; that much, at least, we can agree on. Still, I don't think I have room for her at 450. I have the Big Three of Baneslayer, Cloudgoat, and Reveillark, and I don't think she supplants any of those. I am running five white Planeswalkers though, so perhaps Gideon Jura can ride the pine for a bit if testing proves her to be even better than she looks.
That's great to hear! There's been a few cool cards for the Enchantress deck that have come out lately, I'm interested to see if the ones that have made my deck made yours too.
Thanks for keeping this thread going, Burntgerbil. I'm just beginning to explore all the possibilities that Karn represents, and reading through the thread has been very enlightening. When you get the time, would you mind updating the deck list in the OP? I've seen a few new cards mentioned that aren't in that version of the deck, and I'm interested in what made the cut since July.
Palace Siege would be my cut - neither of it's abilities seem to synergize very much with the rest of the deck in it's current Eggs-centric configuration.
That was pretty much my history with it as well. It feels very well positioned with the change to colorless mana, but I'm interested in other manager's opinions.
Has anyone added this back to their Cubes with the release of OGW? I run a 450 powered Cube and I'm trying to decide if the addition of half a dozen of the new colorless cards warrants adding this to my Cube over something like Tendo Ice Bridge.
I think Oath of Jace deserves some thought too. Being able to flicker it every turn is going to lead to some amazing card selection.
Edit: DK, I just have to hear more about Narset in your list. She can't draw 63 cards in your deck, and you only have six spells to rebound, of which one already has rebound, one is an X spell (which means X is zero), and one is an overload spell (which can't be cast for overload off rebound). I have a foil one that I'm dying to put in a deck, but I just can't justify it here. Would you mind talking more about how you're making her work? I really do want to be convinced that she's worth a slot.
I have to say, I love this deck! If I may, I'd like to add my two cents worth to conversation.
1) Corrupted Crossroads doesn't seem like the best choice for this deck, given the heavy color requirements Rakdos has. How many devoid spells will this deck have, all told? In my opinion, the land of choice is Sulfurous Springs. It provides both colored and colorless mana and it doesn't ping you for the colorless. Also, I'd look into getting Grand Coliseum as well. It enters the battlefield tapped but provides colorless mana free of damage.
2) Kozilek, the Great Distortion is one of those cards that initially doesn't look as good as it's RoE equivalent, but after playing with it a few times it's power becomes a little more apparent. You may think you want to play that Oblivion Sower in your hand, but when you can discard it to counter that Life's Finale or Narset, Enlightened Master...well, enjoy the 'yard Oblivion Sower.
3) Endbringer looks so sweet. I cannot wait for that card to be in my hands.
Thank you for keeping this thread up to date! I can't see what else Oath has for Rakdos and his Eldrazi overlords!
Colorless removal and pump seems pretty decent. I'm fairly sure that I don't like it for smaller Cubes, but being able to be cast in any deck feels potent.
On that topic, at what point do Filterlands become a serious consideration for smaller cubes? Is it ridiculous to attempt to make room for them if we get, say 10+ Cubeworthy <> cards?
I don't know, being able to reanimate New Kozi, get a full grip, and then have conditional counterspell support might be as backbreaking as Annihilator, now that I think about it. A turn 2 New Kozi is just ridiculous to consider. Getting out that early with Menace he's still realistically Wrathing your opponent every time he wants to block.
This is a much more difficult choice than ROE Ulamog vs BFZ Ulamog. I think I still like OG Kozilek more; as of right now he's easier to cast in something like Super Ramp and does more off Sneak Attack / Show and Tell. New Kozi can be reanimated which is a large plus and does allow for situational counterspells, but requires only colorless mana and doesn't annihilate the board. I can see pros and cons for both and will have to test extensively before I'm comfortable with making a decision.
I think the key difference though is that this isn't a dead top deck if you don't need a combat trick. The instant speed card draw is really nice when you need options.
Call me crazy but I'm considering swapping this in for the card currently in the floating cmc5 slot that we have been getting options for recently (i.e. Priest of the Blood Rite)
