A New and Exciting Beginning

The End of an Era

I'm more interested in the three more cards. The extra land drop is really just a nicety, especially in a deck with only 22 of them. Even if Jace's Ingenuity was in standard, Quicken would still be on my mind because of how devastating Piggymaker would be during your opponent's combat. It'd be pretty awesome to watch a blue deck spend all its mana on Thassa's ability and go for the alpha strike just to have its army (god included) turned to ham.

I finished 3rd/4th in a 30-person FNM last night with this:

It's still getting tweaked and there are things even now I'm going to change (bye-bye Ready//Willing and any land that doesn't tap for G). I can go over the good and bad of anything if desired. In the end, though, I don't necessarily think that this deck can hang. I just have a strong hatred for netdecking the latest tournament winner and I love brewing and making things work that shouldn't/haven't. You have no idea how many people told me that Hidden Strings was an amazing card after I habitually cast it on Agent of Fates 3-5 times in 2 turns with another deck.

I'd be fine with going down on the Urban Evolution count but the only time it's bad is if my hand is already full of Prophet and Polukranos and that's not a bad thing. It's great when they're not.

I've won several games with Colossus and I've never not transformed him for the win after playing him unless my opponent just scooped. It's not been a dead card for me.

I'm actually looking at Quicken to fill any holes I make. I know that sounds weird but it's pretty restricting not being able to do anything with Piggymaker or Evolution on your opponent's turn with Prophet down and no worthwhile/cheap enough creatures to play. It replaces itself. I don't think it'll be horrible in this deck.

Not a fan of having the Lorwyn planeswalkers change every 2-3 years with coresets.
I'd be just fine with Chandra and Liliana in corsets. I'd skip the rest though.

Like someone said in a similar thread to this. Thragtusk would still be legal if it would be that way. No thanks
I don't know if we need to base it on idiot mistakes that were printed broken. We had to deal with Jace and Stoneforge for almost a year and a half simply because they were printed in main sets instead of core - pointing to a core set mistake isn't exactly valid as an argument in my eyes. Had Thragtusk been appropriately costed, he wouldn't be so much an example.

I was actually expecting this to be the first summer in the last 4 where blue-white wasn't the king. I think it's mostly the case. Many are simply an about-time realization on how to survive the early game against most decks in the format (and I was thinking the life gain in M14 was going to do more in that regard than it currently is). UW will always have a thing going. Thankfully, it's less of one this year.

Yes, because a GREEN creature with greater power/toughness than a vanilla test has never existed. Ever.
Agreed. And with 3 required green in the cost, it can get more.

Then again, with some of the other monsters in the set, it seems that Wizards is finally blowing that out of the water too and giving it to every color. Ember Swallower, for instance. Someone bring back that old Calvin pissing avatar, but make it the Theros symbol onto the pie.

Ajani's lookin' mighty green-white to me! Grin
Because of... what? A green piece of clothing? WOH, man. It's sealed and done.
    Quote from Melete
Maybe Ajani can finally stop being "one of those other planeswalkers" this time around.
Until he actually kills Nicol Bolas (hold your breath if you want) or, really, anyone else, he'll continue to be pointless or his role will be just as easily filled by another. He's got one arc to finish and it'll be a good decade or 3 before one of them die. Or never.

Gotcha. So Tangarth has no chance here.

Nothing exciting, but I learned a good deal from your posts. Thanks.

That why it's a question of what all Time Spiral did to the timeline among all the planes. I do not know if this is a possibility, but maybe one of the effects of the redone timeline is that the entire Weatherlight Saga could have never happened or happened differently. It obviously was meant to be an event that affected the Brother's War in a way that means that Planeswalkers like Urza don't exist any more.

The conflict I can see with that is that we've revisited planes from before Time Spiral and saw that the time passed just as normal. Mirrodin and Ravnica exited before and we're seeing them after. Karn, even, on Mirrodin, still exists as he once did. But maybe the Time Spiral just didn't affect those planes in the same way. The printing of Sarcomite Myr doesn't debunk this - they were simply showing off things they intended to print in the game in the future.

An example of the sort of reset that I'm talking about is what DC Comic has done with the New 52. Nothing from the past was supposed to exist or matter anymore, but exceptions were made for the Batman and Green Lantern mythoi because of how important their recent history was to how they were perceived now. Batman went through the whole 'Batman: R.I.P.' deal after Final Crisis and Green Lantern had the multi-year Blackest Night and Brightest Day series. Those were kept, so there's a bit of a creative example of what could have been done here.

However, what EXACTLY the Time Spiral event did to the past is something I don't know. Maybe what I'm describing is directly contradicted. If not, then what I'm talking about is the possibility of Tangarth being 'introduced' in Theros as where he comes from, completely independent of how we knew him before. The Tangarth from before could, now, simply not exist. The Weatherlight Saga could have even happened - that's fine - but the Time Spiral could have affected it in certain ways instead of removing it completely. It could be that Tangarth simply wasn't a part of it 'now'.

Iunno. I just think it'd be neat.

I really don't know what Time Spiral did to everything that had happened. I know the main point was to reset the Planeswalker, but it had other repercussions. You'll have to enlighten me as to whether the following is possible.

Without too many more words: Tangarth?

I think the Sorin art for Dark Ascension was on a card and that ended up being the box too, not his card.
