I can kinda possibly see people trying to run Frost Titan to tap down lands or creatures in U/W like America Planeswalkers used Ajani Vengeant. Probably won't work out too well. A more efficient build would be U/G since it can ramp out 6 mana by like turn 3-4 maybe. It comes into play, taps a land, and any kills spells cost 2 more. It seems much better as a turn 4 play than late turn 6+. Either way it'll be awesomesauce for my Cowardice deck :p

I found Elixir of Immortality to be quite a life saver in the draft I played. Then again I drafted 3 Arc Runners so gaining life and getting creatures back was awesome.

To all who doubt the picture, I talked to the owners of the card shop today and they assured me that the poster in that picture was given to them by wizards of the coast. Most likely Imperious Perfect WILL be an uncommon, but its still a great card.

I saw a poster for the 2011 core set at the local cards shop today that has the art of Imperious Perfect on it. I took a pic with my phone but can't remember how to post it since there wasn't a url with it, plus the image is at 1600px x 1200px. If someone gives me the procedure I can post my proof for all to see. Thanks for posting that attachment

Blue is getting stronger but currently is pretty weak. As it is it needs other colors to make it playable. There are plenty of decks splashing blue for Jace TMS, but no mono blue decks. Right now white is pretty OP. With the currently spoiled cards it looks like mono red and green will be getting the biggest boost for the post rotation meta.

Well, I played saturday in the midwest masters series and went 1-3 and dropped. I blame sleep deprivation, some bad draws, my friends and I assumed the meta would be flooded with Bant and Vengevine builds. In reality 3/4 of the people playing were using Jund and I'm actually quite a terrible control player lol :p

    Round 1 vs Jund
Not much to say really. He got his Bloodbraid Elves when he needed them and cascaded into Blightning, Then next turn Blightning again. Second game I had 3 spreading seas on his manlands and a Savage land but he didn't pluse them for some reason. Either way I couldn't draw a path or anything to deal with Leech or BBE in the early game.

    0-1

    Round 2 vs Jund
This guy was playing what I'd assume to be more of a budget build of Jund. Game 1 I have 2 spreading seas opening hand then draw into a third. After that I drop Jace and start looking at the top of his deck to make sure he doesn't get what he needs, while Gideon and Colonnade swing away. Game 2 was pretty much the same.

    1-1

    Round 3 vs U/W
This guy was a complete ass the entire match. Game 1 he mulls down to 5 and I have 2 spreading seas opening hand draw into the 3rd a few turns later and lay the smack down with gideon and tar pit. Our first game took quite a while so my opponent became quite anxious knowing that he had to win 2 games in about half an hour. He began trying to call the judge over for every little thing to try and get me a game loss. All I got was a game warning but that was my own fault even though the guy was so soft spoken I couldn't hear him declare what he was doing half the time. Game 2 I couldn't draw into anything so he ended up winning fairly easily. Game 3 we had about 10 min left. We go at it play for play. He plays Gideon. I o ring it. Next turn he drops Luminarch Ascension. I Esper Charm it. It went back and forth like that for a number of turns. He kept checking the clock and trying to rush me through my turns then take his time on his turns. I had him down to 6 life and had a Luminarch Ascension about to go online at the end of his turn, but he o rings it. After that I hit a large mana pocket and he casts Martial Coup for 6 then next turn drops Gideon, starts swinging and comes back to win just as they call time. Very close game and was quite the match aside from his general lack of conduct.

    1-2

    Round 4 vs Naya Vengevine
This deck was fast and he drew everything he needed on time he won game 1. Game 2 he gets a little mana flooded and I start to control. He drops 2 vengevine and swings, but I have 2 Path to answer. I hit him with Gideon and Tar pit for the win. Game 3 just like game one. It just came out way too fast for me to deal with.

    1-3

I probably should've stayed in for the last 4 rounds but I was starving and became more interested in playing in some of the booster drafts. Anyway here is the list I took

A few things I noticed though. Luminarch Ascension is amazing against u/w control. Since their first few turns are spent just dropping lands it comes online fast and after it does its rough. Emeria Angel is also another amazing play. Having her in play with Elspeth making 2 tokens a turn can be hard to deal with. In testing if I dropped Everflowing Chalice T2 whoopie. If I dropped it any other turn it was such a dead draw that it made me want to throw my deck lol. Esper Charm really is the best card in T2 that no one plays. The instant draw/discard is great and in the u/w control match up its great vs spreading seas, o ring and luminarch ascension. Post day my jund opponent would drop Bloodwitch, so on my turn I'd cast consuming vapors. Its def better than blowing another day and regains me some life. I would also change the mana base a lil. I think there are too many lands that either come into play or can possibly come into play tapped. One card that I felt was fairly underwhelming was Wall of Omens. Yes it draws a card, but other than that it didn't get to block anything or do anything of value. I might try a build with out it or at least move it to the board. All is Dust is great as well because it can get planeswalkers, enchantments, everything. A friend of mine was playing a planeswalker control deck and he said this card completely rocked him.

This is true, but the closest thing to an effective 2 for 1 creature removal that black has right now. Oblivion Ring is always a solid choice because of its ability to remove any nonland threat for 3 mana, but its also a 1 for 1 that Jund can pulse away, especially if you've "ringed" multiple cards, and get whatever you removed back. My friend is currently running a Vengevine jund build and I've been looking for ways to deal with so many creatures. BBE into a Hell's Thunder and bring back Vengevine is quite a rough turn.

Have you tried using Consuming Vapors? I just started playing with esper but it seems like it would be quite good in removing a threat and regaining you some life. Then again against jund usually I use my esper charms to mind rot them unless I'm really hurting for cards.

This hurts me alot seeing as how I've been soaking up Ravnica duals left and right whenever I could. This also explains why my 4 set of chinese Dark Depths only sold for $54 on ebay Frown I don't think I want to touch anything pre Lorwyn block anymore or until this new format is launched. On the bright side I think I will keep my Jund deck after all Smile Then again it sounds like wizards is forcing us all to buy more new cards yet again because they aren't making a penny off the secondary market.

If you will all look at this article http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/td/95

You'll get some sb tech insight vs Next level bant by Shaheen Soorani who won PTQ Amsterdam. He was using a U/W control list but for the most part our Esper lists are very similar. His advice has been quite insightful and I didn't think Emeria Angel would be so effective, its amusing considering how much people hated it when it was spoiled.

Thanks for the input SaintDolphin. I think chalice is good not only for the x casting cost spells but also if I don't have a Wall of Omens/Spreading Seas in hand I can drop that with a charge counter so I can cast Jace 3rd turn there by putting my opponent in a predicament as they now have to either trade Jaces or use an O ring right off the bat. Or Even set me up for a T3 Day if I'm playing against a fast aggro deck. The mindshatters are a very nice idea, but BBB seem like it'd be rough to cast with my mana base. I was thinking of trying to find room for Arcane Sanctums. The mana fixing is great but I'm not sure about A. Being more vulnerable to Spreading Seas, which then again blue is in my color scheme and B. The citp clause slowing me down a bit. The paths are good vs Vengevine, which I assume I'll see a lot of, I could move 1 to the SB. I believe I'm playing FNM before the Saturday tourny in Columbus so I'll try and remember what I can and post results. I also did some rearranging since I got my 3rd Jace. Here is what I am currently running with.

Has anyone tried Ethersworn Canonist in the SB vs the Vengevine decks? Most of the decks I've looked at that run VV are pretty much 20 something land and the the rest are creatures so the worry of them removing it wouldn't be so bad. Cannonist could also stop cascade effects too, while keeping your opponent down to one spell a turn. Granted you would be at one spell a turn too, but I've found that one spell is all I really play in a tap out style deck like this anyway.

I have been talking with a friend about playing an Esper Planeswalker control deck, good to know its already being played lol. Esper Planeswalkers look like they have a pretty good match up against just about all the top decks. Here is what I've got together. It still needs more testing

Theres a big tourny next friday and I'm thinking about taking this. I still need a sideboard. I'm expecting a lot of Jund, U/W control, Bant, maybe some RDW. Let me know what you are siding in and out in these match ups. I've been debating on whether or not to run the Chalice/Coup/Mind Spring package. I was thinking running MD O-ring would be better vs other planeswalker decks and Vengevines.
