I love Lightning Bolt; especially when paired with Snapcaster Mage.

The background would be Steam Vents (Guildpact). With Lightning Bolt art from Beta on the left and/or right sides and Snapcaster Mage in the center. You could put my name (red/blue text) anywhere that looks good to you. If you could fit the Izzet symbol somewhere that would be sweet.

Preferably 500x100, for use on other forums (I will link to this thread wherever I use it)

Thank you very much, and I'll be looking forward to seeing it.

I haven't given Rakdos's Return a chance yet, mainly because my meta is literally all GW aggro decks. However, in a control-heavy meta, I'd consider playing 3.

I've dealt with Sigarda, Host of Herons with a 5/5 or higher Olivia Voldaren.

Given the fact that against GW aggro, you're able to destroy either Fiend Hunter or Oblivion Ring with one card, Olivia will be able to stick. And once Olivia sticks, you're winning that game, period.

I see no reason to play Ultimate Price. It's only a Dreadbore with even less targets. Sure, it's instant speed, but I don't believe it's important enough. Especially if you decide to play 4 Pillar of Flame, 2-4 Abrupt Decay, 2-3 Mizzium Mortars, and 3-4 Dreadbore. You should easily be able to control early creatures enough to not have to worry about taking a hit from Thundermaw Hellkite or Restoration Angel, which you can kill on your next turn with Dreadbore.

Would you rather have answers specific to flash and haste creatures (for example; Restoration Angel, Thundermaw Hellkite, Hellrider)

or would you rather have answers specific to anything that costs 3 or less, which I believe greatly outnumbers the amount of relevant flash and haste creatures (for example; most aggressive creatures, Liliana of the Veil, Oblivion Ring)

I'm running 4 Abrupt Decay main. When I first built this deck, I was against running Abrupt Decay at all. Two weeks ago, I tried two main. I came to the conclusion that it has many relevant targets, no matter what the matchup. Last Friday, I tried three. It continued to never be a dead card. I finally decided on four in my maindeck for Gameday last Saturday. It was outstanding. For example, I'd play Olivia Voldaren with six mana, and my opponent would cast Oblivion Ring on her. He would pass the turn, and letting me cast Abrupt Decay on the Oblivion Ring allowing Olivia Voldaren to go wild the next turn.

You see the GW aggro deck that won the last SCG Open? It hits everything except for Wolfir Silverheart. Even against the mirror, it's not a dead card. It hits flipped Huntmaster of the Fells, Rakdos Keyrune and Underworld Connections. Very relevant targets.

Since most good removal are sorcery speed, being able to destroy Detention Sphere and Oblivion Ring at the end of your opponents turn is a huge advantage. There isn't much removal for our threats in general - those just happen to be the most common ones used. Abrupt Decay is the best answer to those because it's just so versatile. It also kills most creatures in aggro matchups.

That's what Jund is about. Removal, removal, removal, answers, answers, answers, and getting through with our threats.

I've been playing Selesnya decks nonstop for the past 3 weeks at FNM with Jund. The best card against them? Olivia Voldaren.

Most of the time Olivia will stick and take over any game. There's a chance the Selesnya decks have Oblivion Ring and Selesnya Charm. Just be careful with Olivia if you're opponent is playing the charms. You could make Olivia bigger than Sigarda, making it no longer a problem. Also, Thundermaw Hellkite is incredible. It lets you get past Sigarda, and it basically flies over the rest of the deck. Huntmaster of the Fells could be very strong in the matchup if you're able to abuse his flip abilities constantly throughout a game.

Blade Splicer is the problem. Strangleroot Geist will only swing into the 3/3 golem with first strike. It would be lucky for Strangleroot Geist to get in two damage before Blade Splicer comes down.

I like the card, but I'm not entirely sure if this will truly make an impact on Standard as it currently is. I can see it having potential against Birthing Pod decks, but I'm certain they can play around it. They're just a bit slower. As for running Angel of Jubilation token / heavy white creature decks, I believe Hero of Bladehold is much better in general. I could be wrong. But we'll see...

Has anyone gotten the chance to test Reid Duke's build from an article on SCG some weeks ago? For those who haven't seen it, here it is:

I like it because it can push out damage real fast. However, it doesn't exactly have an late-game plan. What do you guys think?

...and probably some text on there that has to do with what a red/green player would say.

I don't have any preferences how it should be done, except to just make it look awesome.

I just recently got back into EDH, looking for any interesting generals I could use. Searching the forums, I stumbled upon this thread. I began looking at it and thought "Why haven't I built something like this already?" HEY LOOK, FREE FATTIES WITH HASTE! That's my favorite thing to be doing in EDH. Looks really fun.

The only thing I'm worried about is this: Just how resilient is this deck to wrath effects? In multiplayer games, there usually tends to be a few.

Is this a budget list? I'm just asking, seeing as there's no dual lands or fetch lands. I don't mind either way.

Anyway, I have a few ideas off the top of my head. Some might be good, some probably not. Here they are:

    Clone (why not?)
    Frost Titan (another fatty)
    Inferno Titan (see above)
Duplicant (basically free removal if Animar is big enough)
Azusa, Lost but Seeking (maybe, if there's a way to constantly have lands in hand)
    Deceiver Exarch (Pestermite #2)
Seedguide Ash (there's a few sac outlets in here... could be good)
Wickerbough Elder (not sure if it's really needed but it's an idea)
Borderland Ranger (another Pilgrim's Eye, but there IS a colored mana in there)
    Elvish Visionary (replaces itself)
    Indrik Stomphowler (see Wickerbough Elder)
Sakura-Tribe Elder (one-mana ramp with Animar)
Wilderness Elemental (can be massive in long multiplayer games)
Wood Elves (Ondu Giant but costs 1 less)

Non-creature cards (It might be just me, but I CAN'T play a green deck without these):
    Cultivate
    Explosive Vegetation
    Skyshroud Claim
    Kodama's Reach
    Hunting Wilds

I've tried this list in a tournament at AnimeExpo (about 28 people). I LOVED it. There was a small difference in this list and mine; I had no Oracle of Mul Daya, but 3 Avenger of Zendikar and 1 Inferno Titan. The one-of Joraga Treespeaker was amazing. It's a reeeeeeeeeeally good to have a turn two GSZ target.

I did test against my friend's UR Twin using my current list, and Beast Within was quite useful. It makes it so I don't have to worry about turn 3 Deceiver Exarch and then Splinter Twin next turn. By the time he had Exarch + Mana Leak mana open, I'd have more than enough mana to pay for Mana Leak. Try it out yourself.

I do believe 8 is enough, I ran 4 Summoning Traps against Caw-Blade with 8 targets (4 Primeval, 3 Inferno, 1 Avenger) and I didn't run into many problems. My list did have 4 GSZ to begin with post-bans, but then I thought that there would indeed be a large number of Twin decks over anything else.

I don't really like Oracle of Mul Daya post-bans. Even as a one-of, I don't think it's too great now. Especially if there's a lot of aggro going around (I expect there to be, alongside twin). I really don't like Dismember. Seems like a bad idea against decks like Goblins, mono-red, or Vampires. "Oh thanks for taking 4 more damage!" Against Twin pre-board, it's probably only useful there. It sucks if they have a Spellskite out. If there's a lot of twin in your area, I would definitely recommend 4 Combust in the board. I also don't like Lightning Bolt here... I'd just stick to 4 Pyroclasm in the board.

I plan to cut Cultivate for Rampant Growth and move up to 28 lands when M12 comes out. I also feel Avenger may be slow, but if you happen to get one out against aggro, that's it for them. I agree that Beast Within is indeed depressing against aggro, but it does blow up Shrine, however. But I decided mainly to use it because it's a great, versatile card to have against both Twin and Valakut - which I expect to be the majority of the field. Spellskite, I realized, is a great for our sideboard as it's good against Twin, and it also basically "negates" Mark of Mutiny effects, so there's no need to worry about using Tumble Magnet.
