Came up with a card idea that seems really fun to me.. what do you think:
Pact of Desperation0 Instant
Next spell you cast has flash.
Next spell you cast costs 0.
During your next upkeep, pay that spell's mana cost plus 3 and pay 10 life. If you don't, you lose the game.
I am working on a deck that is centered around Pyromancer Ascension taking advantage of cheap black and red instants and sorceries. I initially wanted to make a The Rack deck - a mono-black disruption deck, but looking though my collection pushed me into a different direction. Here is what I have so far. Please let me know if anything should get absolutely get cut out and if you have any suggestions for anything else. Thanks!
I was thinking of ways to make a new, fun and competitive format that doesn't have quite the barriers to entry like Legacy and Modern, and is fun and unpredictable like EDH. For example, I have Bob and Goyf and some other very good cards but not a playset of each, so what am I to do? What do you think about this format:
60 card deck
Other than basic lands, only 1 of each card
Minimum of 20 common/uncommon cards; at least 7 have to be common
At least 7 cards have to be from the most recent block
What do you think? It's a mix of standard, legacy, and EDH and some pauper with the common/uncommon requirement.
sad that UB is defined by mill yet again, but this is actually very strong milling engine.. drop a bunch of blockers early on with high toughness and then this comes into play, is indestructible, and your opponent's back is against the wall
After some review, I decided to take out 2x Dimir Charm, 3x Judge's familiar, 3x cyclonic rift, and 2x azorius charm. I added the following:
1x Sphinx's Revelation
2x Crypt Incursion - amazing in this deck
2x Psychic Strike - running this instead of Syncopate and Dissolve to fuel graveyard for crypt incursion
2x Far/Away
1x Swamp
1x Island
Basic premise of this deck is to survive early game with azorious charm, thoughtseize, detention sphere and then supreme verdicts, drop sanguine bond, and then drop obzedat ghost council or blood baron of vizkopa and gain life and gradually bleed out an opponent. Sphinx's revelation will also go along well with this plan. Alternate win condition is via Aetherling. Here is what my build looks like right now:
What do you guys think? I do not have access to all of Theros and some Gatecrash / Dragon's Maze cards yet so this is what I am working with at the moment.
Given that we have Scry mechanic in Theros, do you think Wizards will give us more library manipulation shenanigans with fateseal and possibly reprint Spin Into Myth in Born of the Gods? If anything, that card would fit the whole 'myth' flavor of the block.
I was thinking about ways Wizards could add more value and intrigue to buying and opening booster packs without degrading general access to powerful cards by introducing some new ultra-mythic 1-per-box rarity.
One way would be to insert alternate art cards into some booster packs. Let's say one in 16 booster packs would have an alternate art foil card. This would be something similar to what Wizards did back in Planeshift days with alternate art cards like Skyship Weatherlight and Ertai, the Corrupted. This would mean that Wizards would have to shell out more money to pay artists for additional art, but in the long run more collectors like myself would be compelled to buy more booster packs and Wizards would generate the revenue to cover the cost.
Another, less costly way, would be to insert new cards on old style card frame. Again, these would be very rare to get. Think along the lines of Noble Hierarch judge gift promo type design. Imagine opening Deathrite Shaman or Sphinx's Revelation on old card frame design.
What do you think about these ideas? Let me know if you can think of a problem that this would create. To me, it sounds like it would be a great way to give something to the collectors.
you can get a cheap scale that is very accurate off ebay I have done this but it does not work 100% or even 75% of the time. This is because some packs have extra cards which also add weight. I still do it because the heaviest packs have a much higher chance of containing a planeswalker.
Thats right, Planeswalkers are double the weight of a regular rare / mythic
How stupid will you look weighing cards inside of a store?!
Sundrenched Timbergrove

Tap ~ to produce G
Tap, Sacrifice ~: search your library for Plains card and put into the battlefield. Then shuffle your library.
This would be 1 of 10 land cards that would fetch ally-color land.

8 pages into a thread about a Magic set about 'conspiracy' and no one else has mentioned New World Order? Obviously this is all about Wizards admitting that M:tG is actually part of the depopulation plan and... ... ...
Sweet Celestia, the NWO is a stupid conspiracy theory, only slightly less silly than David Icke... I need to know less ridiculous conspiracy theorists
Seriously though, kind of hope it's a multiplayer thing - do love me some politics
I'd be very happy if it was Archenemy... seems like I may be one of the few people who enjoyed it so much, haha
