It's probably not best to guess. I definitely agree with you, but it's not unusual for Wizards to TRY to keep a cycle as similar as possible but still have to buf or nerf one of them because of power level.
In this case the blue "sacling" is perfectly ok at 1/1, I'd be willing to put up 100:1 odds to anyone who wants to make a wager . . . I'm that confident.

Who cares? Has anyone noticed that a 3/3 for 3 with no drawbacks isn't too great? A 3/3 for 3 with drawbacks is aweful.
We are not talking about constructed here, we are talking about limited. That is where a 3/3 for 3 realy shines. I could see this shine in a R/B draft deck as a solid beater.
I had not noticed that, very nice. Bigest problem for constructed though is that first strike creatures are very white and ninjutsu is not. This means that it prob wont be an amazing trick in constructed, though I could see it coming in very usefull in a W/U or W/B limited deck.
I'm hoping for a rat with ninjutsu :1mana::symb: that has a cmc to cast. This would be very playable in constucted . . . why? . . . because I think 3rd turn Patron of the Nezumi would be fairly good, even against affinity.

It does work, because the creature is a different creature it will work. What doesn't work is when you give a creature first stike, let it do its damage, remove first strike and expect it to do the damage again.
