So I saw a question a few pages back about psychatog. I believe that card is fine in modern. It's not particularly oppressive and can be punished. Plenty of the common removal cards can deal with it and even lightning bolt makes them either discard 2 cards/remove 4 cards to keep him or variation thereof. Also remember he costs 3. Lilliana can be dropped to deal with him and he's plenty slow for mana leak and other options. Also drawing a psychatog doesn't really help you auto win or gain significant advantage against most of the other creatures aka tasigur, tarmogoy, gurmag angler, and a long list.

Mother of runes was also mentioned that would be a significant boost and argument for running white based aggro. Might be super strong in modern definitely an all star in a standard environment. I can't really effectively evaluate that card because it's a legacy staple and in death and taxes which is competing in a completely different playing field. legacy as a format is a much different landscape when it comes to aggro and grindy matchups.

I don't want SoTM unbanned. I play control. I don't want to rain on everyone's parade but that card is not really going to do what people think it will do. Is it a good way to combat burn/aggro in esper/uw shells? sure if you're not dead when it turns on. Is it what I think control needs to storm into the format...no. This combo will be better against other control/midrange decks. It puts pieces in your hand that will be useless without the other. I don't want to see a SoTM against a burn deck without a foundry it's literally useless. Most likely tezzerator would see a buff yawn. For those of you who complained about this it's never been in the format. It's not a proven strategy. I would love to see this boogeyman do absolutely nothing in modern.

Honestly blood moon can stop a game cold. I would say with the influx of new cards to support the shards and wedges recently we should all acknowledge by now that wotc intends on 3 color being a standard and as such is NOT greedy. If you think that blood moon is a fair and balanced card you're simply incorrect. However, this card MUST exist in this format because wotc has decided that it wants things like TRON and Bloom to exist so therefore blood moon has to exist. Much like abrupt decay this card polices the format and restricts what is possible to play. You're cute isochron scepter deck will never work because abrupt decay easily counters all that you do to make that work. You're cute 3 color deck has to be very careful games 2 and 3 because it can be easily shutout. This is coming from an American control and Esper control player. I play way more basics than most people at 6 because I understand that you need to be able to operate under blood moon existing.

Reading the card made me sad that now essence scatter is the new hotness....yay creature creep and while control spells flatline. Also the creature clause is relevant in modern because I'd love to counter liliana.

I would love this card for blue white control shell doesn't hit face but can hit a planeswalker or a creature.

Here's my problem with how the game is set up now. What we have is a URx arctype for blue based decks that revolves around either combo or aggro. For those of you wondering, true draw go control may be something I want, but I don't need counterspell or a better answer imo. What I want is a decent cantrip/selection spell like preordain/DTT. The problem I see is if you allow preordain you power up combo decks significantly but not nearly as bad as a universal no button. This is why force of will or counterspell make those decks stronger in some fashion. Even though there is no great cantrip in modern I believe FoW still unbalances the format in an unhealthy way and although counterspell has REAL costs in modern since the mana base is way more painful I don't think it's necessary for a draw go control deck to exist. What makes draw go control work is finding the situational answers at the right time or having a selection of universal answers. Since we know WoTC doesn't want control to have universal answers the only significant increase I could see is selection.

I am happy to not have counterspell if I get a way to find the right cards, no I'm not talking about opt....I'm talking about a real selection spell better than serum visions but not brainstorm. Also I don't think grixis control is vastly superior because of it's control elements, just that Kolaghan's Command is a very pushed card that slots well into RBx. Esper and Jeskai versions didn't get anything nearly as powerful and so the attempts are not made to play these decks as much. Yes there was an esper control deck making progress, but then kolaghan's kind of overshadows any real reason to splash white instead of red. Why play PtE when I have access to terminate, lightning bolt and kolaghan's command to deal with early board prescence/get ahead?

My problem is I would like to play draw go esper/jeskai, but Ojutai's and Silumgar's commands were not made for playability in modern and Kolaghan's is just the card that put grixis that far ahead of other control decks. For those of you who might read this and think I am advocating some ban of that card, you're crazy. I just want better tools for esper/jeskai.

My only thought is that twin is a fair combo deck in modern but since you can't tap out against it people think of it more negatively than other combo decks. Legacy doesn't suffer the same problem because of FoW. I think there should be either FoW with light cantrips (since brainstorm isn't legal force loses it's potency). Either way people don't want to see my ban list in modern. I want legacy lite :/

The funny thing about the acolyte is the ability to swing games in your favor in a draft. Yes they are a terrible card and a mana sink, but i was runnning b/r with her to great affect. Since the only instant i really had was lightning bolt and doomblade if i drew a dead card i could ping every turn. More often than not in draft i would get multiple out and most likely be able to ping 2 or 3 at the end of turn. This helped when the topdeck mode of the matches kicked on during the 6th turn. The other great part about it is that it is life loss not damage so it turns safe passage into a dead card for the opponent. With the raging globlins and pikers pinging early and the canyon minotaur to either beat or shield the acolyte became a form of consistent damage that ended the game usually with in a couple of turns.

So I started playing magic in the Onslaught block I love magic as well as all other forms of geekiness (comics, anime, D&D, even heroclix) btw heroclix is fun if you enjoy super heroes and chess. Currently I working on black control for legacy and have finally bought a playset of force of wills for a blue control deck. Also any deck ideas for edh revolving around jhoira would be appreciated.

Entirely too many people confirming this have only one post.

Yeah I have never been apart of this forum until now, I found it when I was researching the topic myself. You don't have to believe me, however i would go to a release next weekend and see what you find. If you go to one that has more people attending you will have a higher chance of seeing it. Hopefully, you find one then there will be no more doubt.

Karma has nothing to do with ignorance

This is true. I understand that. I think that any player needs to be vigilant about learning the card values of things they pick out of packs. I started in onlsaught myself and didn't really play standard in the mirrodin block. I wish i would've known at the time. Ignorance and karma are not related this is true, but sometimes things even out.

Doesn't matter what he did...The fact of the matter is tons of people have ripped people off worse. I traded a foil chrome mox away because I didn't know what it was for like a troll ascetic and a dollar rare. It happens and it was my fault. But you live and you learn to look rares up and figure out the value. However, I got some karma back because i pulled a revised Savannah in the sealed yesterday along with a Marsh Flats in the same pack it was hilarious.
