Not sure what the UB example proves? That deck is also just an inferior choice. People insist on playing a variety of decks, but in reality, the metagame shapes up as follows:
Tier 1:
RUG Control
Tier 1.5(I generally dislike referring to a deck as 'Tier 1.5, but it is accurate here, where RUG is just better than everything else, but a couple of other decks are still better than the rest of the field)
Elves
Valakut
Tier 2:
Other U/x decks
RDW
Goblins
Mono-Green Eldrazi
And that's it. Yes, you can play other decks(such as Vampires, WW Quest, Big Red, etc) to some limited success, but you can't reasonable expect to win big events with them, and any amount of resistance will probably crumble you.
the fact that you think rug is tier 1 let alone the only tier 1 deck makes me think youre just trolling.... but maybe youre being serious...
If the Dark Tutelage were one mana cheaper, this deck would be great. However, without a truly good draw engine, this deck is in trouble if people start preparing to face it. It was a good meta call. Now that everyone is screaming OMG VAMPS, people will be ready for them again and the deck will die off. That is what happened to vamps before, it is going to happen again. A tribal deck without a lord doesn't work.
except most builds have captivating vamps in it. all he did was replace captivating with gatekeepers that the original deck played in the sideboard.
and what exactly do you do to prepare for vamps? im just curious what specific cards that arnt played now do you think will just make vamps disappear again?
Oh for crying out... ONE tournament doesn't mean anything. At all. It just means that people weren't prepared to face the deck, because they hadn't seen it before.
When it wins a few more tournaments, come talk.
that was the result after every1 knew about the deck tho....
Is anyone going to come up with a valid response as to why Vampires is "back" or even a good deck, or are you just going to keep throwing out failed attempts at discrediting me by giving off little two-sentence "u dont know how to play magic" posts..?
Yeah, I figured. I should know by now not to bother arguing with people when they make these kinds of posts; it's a waste of mine and everyone else's time. Go have fun with your twilight deck -_-
except looking at your post history you are always a naysayer and always like this. even when you're proven wrong you come up with an excuse. i just dont get it. why are you like this? why do you refuse to be wrong ever. why do you think something cant be good unless its a bandwagon or known deck?
on top of that all your posts just seem condescending and sound like you think you know it all and you're never wrong. i havnt seen 1 post of yours where you're pro innovation. its like since you cant innovate you refuse that others can. you must have really hated r/u magnivore.... if only i could find some of your posts back then when that dark horse hit the scene and started doing good....
you honestly remind me of K.K (Kooky.Korean) from the mtgnews boards.
Heh, classic counter-argument for a bad deck. "You haven't tested it, so you don't know that it's not the best deck in the meta!!1". Yes, I have, and yes, I do. It's not a good deck, and never will be.
...maybe you should get acquainted with some magic terminology before you try to correct me. I didn't say that Vampires were Bears, any more than someone referring to a 3/3 creature as a Hill Giant is actually saying it's a hill giant. It's just a term used to describe the creature. In this case, yes, Vampires is a deck full of bears, and the only saving grace it had pre-rotation was that they could become 4/3 flying bears. Now they're just bears. Bloodghast, Gatekeeper, Highborn, Pawn, Lacerator, and (in terms of its swing), Pulse Tracker are all essentially bears, regardless of the fact they have an ability.
Elves can ramp out a fast Monument, RDW has burn, and the rest of those decks aren't playable. Unless you're trying to reinforce what I'm saying, what's your point?
No, it doesn't. Every time someone makes Top 8 in a tournament with something other than the norm, everyone suddenly jumps up and proclaims it to be the new deck on the rise. A week later, nobody cares about it anymore, because they all test it / take it to FNM, and realise it was either a good pilot or just plain luck that got it there.
just curious have you accomplished anything in this game remotely significant? because you talk like youre kai budde or something.
it tears through u/b control pretty good which i think is the best thing about the deck, since so many people think u/b is gods new gift to t2 or something.....
It's an aggro deck full of crappy bears, and it lost the only saving grace the deck had in Vampire Nocturnus. Almost the entire deck dies to Pyroclasm, which probably half of the meta either runs, or has the potential to run, in their sideboards.
Where's the feasibility in that, again? What possible reason would you have to play this over something like Boros, if you want an aggro deck?
do you ever playtest for yourself? or do you want somebody to hold your hand while you go pee too? you should i dont know... maybe playtest the deck and then judge it.
this deck has been doing good on magic online for a while now... as far as im concerned its been "back" for 2+ weeks now. i really hope this doesnt mean people are gonna start playing it now the mirror match is all luck based :(.
my beef with machine red is that its possibly the most inconsistent deck i have played in t2. sometimes it gets there, sometimes it doesnt, and if you're opponent is playing control, it always DOESNT get there.
i logged on magic online for last day of premiere events for SOM release and once again i miss out on a 64 man draft because theyre ALWAYS full. sealed takes forever to fill up if it ever does fill up (yes its more than 64 people im aware.) it just seems like it makes perfect sense to limited events fully draft.
the only problem i see with this is you would have to hit a few perfect numbers to start, but im sure theres some ways around this.
do you think wizards will ever start doing this? i mean even SCG is gonna be doing it.
i dont think it helps that probably the majority of americans know how congress and the senate and presidency work. hell i've heard people blame obama when a bill passes.... obama cant just be like "alright guys this is my bill, its getting passed cus i said so thanks!" alot of stuff that happens at his level is done by advisors and even if mccain was pres alot of things would still be the same and alot of people would still be complaining.
im also taking macroeconomics this semester, and its shown me that no matter the president we elect some things will always happen its pretty much a cycle our country goes through ALL the time. i remember our instructor said to ask our parents if they liked or hated carter, he said most of them hated him but its because of him our nation was doing good while clinton was in office. and its funny because he goes on lots of rants and ultimately sais most people have no clue what theyre talking about when it comes to presidents or the economy, and sadly i think its true :/
green spell bomb should definitely be in your pool if youre playing 3 colors, and hell even if youre playing 2. rusted relic also is pretty much supposed to auto make your 24 if youre not infect. and i would still splash red or splash green for the 1 replica. your deck is pretty removal light (and yes i would go black, bombs win games)
It also leaves you with less options/dmg turn 3+. Gives you less chances to protect the lynx from a burst lighting, disfigure ect. Less chances to grow you lynx later in the game. Gives you opp. more info as to what you have in your hand, gives you less info as what is in you opp. hand. Requires that you have and use an extra resource a fetch. <----- this outweighs the less then 1/2 a card you opp. will draw off the gobo guide vs just about ever deck that would run pyroclasm.
At which point you are crossing you fingers and hoping to top-deck well because you are playing boros and its late game, honestly in most match-ups a 0/1 lynx that can become a 4/5 or bigger is typically> greater then a 2/2 haste that is normally blanked by bigger dudes at this point.
wow u really are trying to counter his post? you were pretty much wrong in your 1st post live with it and move on
but it all still just depends on what else is in your hand
