  • posted a message on [M12] Chandra, Garruk and Jace aren't in Lorwyn Form
They have explicitly stated that Jace the Mind sculptor will not be reprinted. that means its a brand new Jace.

Even if they do use JTMS and Chandra Ablaze, this certainly indicates a new Garruk

  • posted a message on Worst Movie You've Seen: Ever
The movie that pissed me off the most was Spiderman 3. They took my favorite Villain, Venom, paired him with my least favorite villain, sandman, and just made a craptastic superhero movie with an emo spiderman.

While that movie pissed me off the most, i think the worst movie i've ever seen is hands down "The other Guys." this was a movie that should never have been made, its the result of Marky Mark and Ferrel wanting a fat pay check and walking away from a really good script (cop out). There were so many dull periods in this movie that i actually walked out.

  • posted a message on The DREAM Act
    Hey Mystery.

Yes, they have broken the law. I agree with you on this.

I want to take a minute and talk about justice. Just because a law is in place, does that mean it is a just law? Let us think of the civil rights movement, when Rosa Parks sat in the front of the bus. This was against the law. Since the civil rights movement, the law has been changed. Is changing the law really granting amnesty to all those who broke it in the past, and if it is, why is that a bad thing?

Fundamentally, on a moral spectrum it is not right to punish individuals for something they were not willingly part of. By definition, people who would be served by the dream act are minors. As a Latino a member of the latino community (don't worry, i'm legal because i'm from Puerto Rico) I know many individuals who's family's have been taken apart by the current immigration system. Being deported automatically denies you access to apply for a visa for a certain amount of years. Deporting these children, as such, is the same as sending them to jail, and that fundamentally is unjust.

You said that the children who are helped by the dream act would probably not have an income high enough to pay taxes. Is this because military service men and college graduates make less than 16,000 a year on average, or are you projecting racial stereo-types when making such an assumption.

As a society, it is unjust to punish innocents. These children should not be punished for the mistakes of their parents. We as Americans are a nation founded on breaking the ☺☺☺☺ing law and writing new ones. The precedent has been set. If your only reason for believing that this act is not just is because these people have broken the law, you seriously need to re-evaluate your logic and take a long, hard look at American History.

  • posted a message on Karn as Phyrexia's new leader
Honestly, we don't know enough about the oil and how it affects the hosts. Its not like we can add the oil to a White and Red mana solution and then centrifuge it, thus having two distinct layers. Do they have detergents to get that stuff out of the sheets?

in all honesty, this is most likely going to be the conflict for the next few blocks, and it probably has something to do with Nicky B. We still don't know where the big bad dragon ends up coming into play, and who's side he's actually on.

BTW. I didn't read the Time Spiral novels, but the comic book made me think that Venser was a kinda Hank Pym. Maybe the way they save Karn is by building a host golem ultron-style and then transfering the phyrexian essence into him, thus making a golem of pure evil!

  • posted a message on 100% proof of God/No God
For me to be 100% sure that there is a God, something would have to happen that would entirely defy the laws of physics. Particularly, the laws of thermo dynamics or matter would have to be entirely defied. For example, matter from nothing, not even energy, would make me believe.

For me to be 100% sure that there is no God, we would either need to artificially create life from an inorganic material. Should a silicon based life form be created under some scientific situation, or should a machine actually be able to think, in the human sense of the word, i would be convinced.

Well, based on proliferate i think its safe to say that Counters are going to be a big part of the set. To give a key word that deals with them specifically is something that sounds really interesting.

  • posted a message on SOM subtheme: Counters Matter?
So with sunburst rumored to be in the set and infect confirmed to be in the set, as well as poison, I was thinking if a subtheme in this block could be counters matter. Mirrodin was a counter heavy block, with both charge counters and +1/+1 counters being numerous. I also feel as though Emblems fit into this subtheme, sort of giving a player a counter.

Does anyone think this may be possible?

I feel like this could mean that Phyrexia Reborn and Mirroden Pure could be any number of things, from a split set to a fourth set in the block to a super, over arching two year block (YAY SETTING CONSISTENCY!)

  • posted a message on George Bush was correct in his decision to go to war with Iraq
In my opinion, the decision to go to war with Iraq was the correct decision for the wrong reasons. Bush did not go to Iraq on a CIVIL RIGHTS mission, he officially went there to diffuse a threat, neither expressed or substantiated afterwards, to the american people. This is a noble cause, should there be evidence to support it.

As a non-muslim Arab, it was very difficult for me to defend my support for the Iraq War in Boston, a predominantly liberal anti bush city. I did realize there was little to no tie between Iraq and 9-11, which forced me to wear a cross in public so as not to be assumed muslim and harassed. Ultimately the Iraq invasion was not well thought out, with no exit strategy or strategy to maintain infrastructure and order between the religious sects in the region. Mistakes were undeniably made.

As for the legality of the invasion. There seemed to be probable cause to invade iraq as a security measure for the united states, and ultimately one less enemy in the region is a good thing. Based on the probable cause, it was a justified war. I still do wish that Bush had apologized in some way when no weapons were found, my greatest issue with Bush was his inability to admit when he was wrong and try to make amends.

We have had worse presidents than Bush. Ultimately, many of his faults come from how incredibly unlucky he was. Of the millions of threats against the United States a year, who would have known 9-11 would be the one? How could he have prevented Katrina? or the Housing bubble crash? all of these things have been in place and compounding for decades. The country has been attacked multiple times under multiple presidencies, the WTC was bombed before. People had a vendetta for the guy from the day he was elected, and whatever conspiracies you wish to subscribe to about him being appointed to president or whatever I really don't care about.

  • posted a message on Favorite Alchoholic Drink
I reallly like to drink a wide variety of things. In the boston area there are a couple of bars that specialize in craft brews, everytime my friends and i go out we try to find a different one. I like Lagunitas, but my go to is always and will always be Sam Adams. Particularly the larger, but most of their craft beers really do it for me.

As for hard liquor. I like tequila, straight. Generally i do Lunazul for cheap stuff or Patron for the expensive stuff. I'm also a big rum guy, i've been drinking a lot of Kraken (straight and with coke). If you like your spiced rum try this, its significantly better than captains but also much stronger (it's a black spiced rum). Also, Jameson Irish is frequently in the mix. in fact, i'm sipping on Irish and smoking a cigar as i write this.

I think this format will be even more varied than standard currently is. There are already answers in the format to Faeries, this deck was only able to stick around as long as it did because of how long it took to print viable answers to the strategy. I think that depending on the cards in Scars, we could see either a Sligh deck or an artifact deck. Back in mirroden, there were some sligh decks that were viable, i wouldn't be surprised if you saw a hybrid zoo/slighdeck as well. This is what i'd probably play.

    Goblin Guides
    Figure of Destiny
    Boggart Ram-gang
    Tattermunge Maniac
    Plated Geopede
    Mogg Fanatic
    Chandra's Spitfire
    Ball Lighntning
    anathamancer

    Burst Lightning
    Volcanic Fallout
    Chandra's spitfire
    Incinerate
    Lightning Bolt
    Shock
    Chandra Ablaze

Yes, you would survive as long as you flash Magister Sphinx in response to maelstrom pulse. Then sphinx resolves first, setting your life total to 10, followed by pulse, which kills all platinum angels, and then you continue your game.

it depends on your intentions. If your intentoins are innocent, then throw some lynryrd skynyrd and creedance on and play bioshock 2 on multiplayer (mad fun). it has been told to me that girls also like to play mario kart, but as i do not own this game i can not relate. go bowling. do something non-threatening.

If your intentions are innocent, i would go with my personal favorite: Chasing Amy. I don't know what it is about that movie, but it somehow gets girls going in the right way. also, if you are in a place where alcoholic bevareges are legal and appropriate to the situation, chill with some sangria. its a non threatening drink that gets people going. If not, its a little bit harder. whatever you do, don't tell her how you feel. just go for it if you have to.

finally, if your intentions are 100% non-pure, go to a bar/party with her and make a move. use a cheesy line from a movie, i don't care. If you are passionate enough about her and in the moment, she will melt in your hands man. My first night with my lady we went salsa dancing and i just pulled her in and went for the kiss man. its been fantastic since. but, if you don't mean it, don't do it, cause then your just ☺☺☺☺ing with her and thats unethical.

I agree, this website seems to have a flawed. Sentry should be in the top 10, Juggernaut is ahead of Hulk (which is ridiculous) and Spidey and batman are in the top 10. Mere mortals can not be as powerful as immortals in my opinion.
