I'm guessing its just me but i dont see the awesomeness that is Tedge. I used to run them in the SB but i took them out for spreading seas. Which spreading seas almost does the same thing, except they can tap it for a island, but it also cantrips.
Anyone mind explaining this? Also im not running chaplin UW control. this is what im running.
Tedge destroys a land while SS turns it into an island, which means they can still use it. Tedge is also not a spell, while SS causes you to tap mana to use it. Tedge also has synergy with treasure hunt.
I've never heard of anyone thinking this way, but this is the way I think
For example, they are playing boros
They play goblin guide and swing turn 1
you take the free land gladly, but do you want to keep taking 2 for atleast 2-3 more turns, plus whatever else he plays? no
so you path it. he gets a land. some people say you're helping them out by giving them a land. i say it hurts them. they over extend, can cast more spells, and BAM, DoJ.
lets say jund
even if they play a putrid leech. you path it turn 2. turn 3 the over-extend into BBE and lets say, hit a GSS. then you DoJ. if they didn't have the extra land, that's a BBE they sandbag and rape you with later.
even if you do it T4 and ramp them into lets say a broodmate. its 1 white mana. you can still counter a broodmate that maybe next turn you won't be able to because you want to tap some lands. i'd personally rather counter their spells now then have to do it later - you have draw spells, most other decks don't.
i'm about to go to work now, but ill post it asap when i get back. you should love my deck, because my meta is exactly the same. all jund, rdw, boros, and vamps.
I also ran a grixis version of this deck at an FNM (35 people) and I came in first. Would you mind posting a decklist so I can compare? Or even message it to me? It'd make my day =)
Sphinx of Jwar Isle is really good. 10 cent rare is definitely underrated. when you're running counters to stop wrath effects it can't be killed - ever. also, if they aren't playing white it's basically unstoppable.

i'll take two to wipe the board. have fun playing more spells.
don't play it unless you can either
stack your deck or
have no other choice
