I'm finding myself sold on the Cantripmancer case. My initial feel was "over-analytical townie", but after Ced catching him with with conflicting play-style arguments and Ged making a great point about the scum vs. town mindset in regards to Cantrip's opinion of Dagger, I'm inclined to believe he's faking it.

    unvote, vote Cantripmancer

However, I will reiterate my suspicions of AE. His response to criticism was to hop in and post a one-liner explanation of his unvote and nothing else. No comments on the Cantrip wagon, no further comments about SK (whom he accused of being NA's scum-buddy), nothing. His play is already feeling a whole of a lot like his play in Battle Royale (he was a serial killer), where he lurked like hell and would only respond to pressure with short, often dismissive posts.

Also, a happy 4th to everyone (well, in a few hours anyway).

@Ced: That's a compelling argument re: Cantrip. I'd like to see AE post some more before moving my vote though.

EBWODP: Wait, you meant fence-sitting about SK didn't you? That's still not fence-sitting either. I agreed that SK's play was bad so far, but that I felt AE's was worse.

Nix, I've survived to endgame in every game I've played so far. But I nearly lost the game for the town in Rogue Squadron by being overanalytical. Still some of the noob anxiousness, I suppose. But since I'm playing with hardcore posters, now, I'd better straighten up and fly right. And get drunk, apparently. Rolleyes

Must've just been a wagon I remembered and not a lynch.

    Quote from Ace
I was simply mocking you on how you were fence-sitting on whether TMT attacked Cantrip or defended him, and as such it's ironic since TMT was fence-sitting himself. Hooray!

Hardly fence-sitting. Fence-sitting would have been something like "Yeah I agree he's acting scummy, but I kinda feel like he's not scum". What I said was "I don't agree that he's acting scummy, his play reminds me of a game where he wasn't scum".

    Quote from Ged
    Huh?

When asked "What's your game?" you responded that Magic and Bridge were your games. I was curious what Bridge convention you used: SAYC (Standard American Yellow Card) or Precision.

My initial reaction to the NA bit was to think it scummy, but giving it some more thought I can't see a scum, even newb scum, doing something that would so obviously draw that much attention. It was definitely a bad vote, but I'm willing to give him a pass for now.

Not sold on Cantripmancer. Feels like he's trying too hard to be analytical, and comes off looking like he's fishing. Didn't he get mislynched in one of his first games over something very similar? (I haven't played with him, but I recall reading one of the games he was in).

I'm not liking AE. Jumps on the NA wagon, tries immediately to tie in SK as a scum buddy with a shakey misdirection accusation, and unvotes NA with a simple "I find his responses satisfactory" as soon as the wagon loses momentum.

SK's fence-sitting is noteworthy too, but not so much to make me vote him over AE.

    Vote Archmage Eternal

    @Ged: SAYC or Precision?

I still see my name on the player list on the first page, so hopefully I've made it in time to not get replaced. Major apologies, I was traveling out of state Sunday and completely forgot to check for the game when I got to my folks' place. I'm getting caught up now, and attendance will not be a problem from here on out.

Experience = playing experience as well. Clarified that in the initial post.

Apologies. My experience is listed in my sig nature. I've played in 5 games on this site: 1 basic and 3 specialties and 1 normal (I think Danger City was a normal). I've played from a relatively even spread of town, mafia, and sk perspectives.

Fair enough. I just kept hoping you would do something, anything to slightly weaken WhammWhamme's position. I kept finding ways to almost kill him, but never enough to finish the job.

EDIT: I feel sorry for you having to jump into such an abysmal position in the game, and frankly I hate that I had to burn my Shelldock casting Din of the Fireherd. But Uril was a very big threat, and there were only two ways for me to answer it: forced sacrifice effects and mass removal effects. Burning mass removal that early seemed like a bad idea, and with the token-generating land Alpha Werewolf was going to quickly get to a position where my forced sacrifice effects were going to be useless. Din of the Fireherd was the only thing I could come up with to get Uril off the board without expending my reset buttons (Soulquake and Plague Wind). Though I have to admit, I did think it was pretty awesome to cast Din for exactly the right amount to wipe the green board.

I would like to sign up to host a Basic game.

EDIT: Forgot to post my experience. Though, since my experience hosting games is '0', one could argue that I did post my experience. Grin But yeah, this would be my first time hosting a game. Gotta start somewhere.

    Good game. Smile

Should've spotted Martial Coup really, but TBH that Green position was horrible anyway. Missing land drops is so very fatal!

Apologies to TMT, I should have used Violent Ultimatum on some lands last turn instead of worrying about WhammWhamme gaining too much life.

I had already used Violent Ultimatum, so that one was out. Something I am curious about though: Why did you go after ColinQ on your Grim Poppet turn?

An interesting scenario has cropped up in an active DC5 game, and I wish to hear opinions. Current Comp Rules and DC5 rules place no restriction on a player attacking two players simultaneously. Personally I can't think of any major problems from this. Can anyone think of a reason why there would need to be a restriction here?

Nothing in the DCX rules prevents it, and I'm fairly certain that nothing in the comp. rules does either, though I admit to not having checked.

Surprisingly enough (to me anyway), there isn't anything in the rules preventing it. The Comp Rules discusses attacking multiple players as an option, and explains how that would function, but doesn't list any particular default rule set for general multiplayer. Since nothing in the Comp Rules or DCX rules specifically prevents it, I guess WhammWhamme is free to do that. I think this does bring up a good topic for discussion for future games though. So WhammWhamme gets to swing at bateleur with his flying land.

I'm quite certain you can't attack two players at the same time.
