The deck does look fun. I wouldn't mind putting it together to see it in action...if I had the pieces that is. ...of course I would hate to go up against it.

Of course I have a room dux. Rolleyes ...didn't have a doornob for a while though. Just got one the other day actually...real spiffy one that can even lock. No key though...so not going to do me any good there. probably aughta keep it locked on account of the kids next door. Seem nice enough, then again the 13 year old claims to have been sent to county for stealing his girlfriend's car.

My job's launched a new website...and with it a whole new social networking launch, which I kind of had to focus on. Been making a facebook page and google+, which have been a bit of a headache. I had to have a conference call with our social networking media consultant to make sure I did everything official and maintained the integrity of the university. The program is "V Bar V Range Program"....but the official name is "The University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Science School of Natural Resources and the Environment Cooperative Extension V Bar V Range Program" ...yeah, try saying that 10 times fast.

@JJ....could you post your LD deck. I's curious now. Not that I'm back in the game. Last time I played was December 2011....which is kind of sad since I almost finished my rock deck and that foil innistrad set. Plus I still need that Tiaga to round off my 5 color EDH deck.

    WTF Dagg?!
I agree; some drama will inevitably occur, but that is a lot of BS to have put up with in the first 7 days!

Well, unfortunately I'm willing to put up with quite a bit for cheaper rent. The debt Cyan saddled me with kinda requires that I focus on austerity. I could live out in a tent...actually did during the fire academy to save money (which ended up costing me more money)...but I figure with my semi-permanence I should try for a social life.

Wouldn't hurt to buy some furniture I suppose. I've been spending my time here sleeping on couch cushions strategically placed on the floor.

I Sold 2x playsets of Snappy'sFoil on ebay & I am not happy about what they went for (avg @ $58 each).
I’m actually considering “fragging” myself on eBay over it. I wish I knew if the cards will go up in value or if they’ve already peaked. Never sold anything on eBay before, I didn’t know the $ wasn’t given to the seller for a month. The only reason I did it was for fast $.
    IDK.. advice? :-/.
    .

Ebay is always hit or miss with selling cards. I used to sell my winnings from pre-releases. Sometimes I made bank, sometimes I broke even, and others I just wound up not selling anything and eating the posting costs. This was years ago so I don't know if policy has changed. Back then I wouldn't send the cards out until I got paid, and I was usually paid within days of the cards being sold. This "month" thing you speak of is new to me. Not sure if fragging yourself over this is worth it. How bad do you think you're being shorted?

I play complete Land Destruction for Modern.....people hate me and I love it!

A LD in Modern? Does that actually work...I mean viable and stuff? They reprint plow under or something?

Already started having roommate drama. Had my roommate's friend wake me up at 6am all distraught. He has a newborn son and just had his first big fight with his wife. So I guess he needed someone to talk to...but he couldn't sit still and was all scratching himself like he was on something. He said he was clean....but it might have been withdrawal from some pills he used to get off opiates....or something like that.

Then my room mate says that his girlfriend's moving in. 4 people, one bathroom. I figured 1/4th the rent might be worth it...but that's not going to happen. Instead the land lord is going to increase the rent of the entire place to make more money. Smells fishy...but we'll see what happens when that actually occurs. That bit started a fair amount of drama by itsself. Room mate was hammered drunk and upset...seems his parents didn't like the girl and are now "done with him." which in his family is apparently litteral and for life.

...but whatever right. Drama was bound to happen when you mix with people. After all, I've been here for at least 7 days right? That's well over 168 hours.

    realized this I apologize

I'm not sure there is a need for apologies. Just a curious question being looked at.

I'm not sure if the clan moderators are looking for new members. ...but make sure you have an application in just in case. I think there's a place for those. People higher up keep track of that sort of thing.

Speaking of which...we were sold to that one place right? any changes?...cause I haven't noticed any.

I passed my classes and now have the certifications for a type 1 wildland firefighter and a Class A Sawyer. Now if the forest service would give me a drip torch I could put these skills to the test. Grin

I also moved into my new place. A bit run down, plus just barely got internet working. I think my next order of business would be to get some stuff for my room. So I'm doing more than sleeping on some couch cushions on the floor. The place has a kitchen though, so better than my last place.

@Ria...i did buy that book you were talking about. Haven't read it yet.

Card tags? You're lucky i remembered the card's name and didn't just call her "that 4/4 flying angel with vigilance that cost 5cc and used to be the big guns."

I'll be moving out of this house tomorrow morning about 5am. I'll then be living in a tent all homeless and alone for a week....woe is I. :p While living in the tent I'll be going to the fire academy in Prescott to get my Fire Fighter type 1 license and chainsaw certificate. Should be fun. Bossman is even paying for it all. ...though I should really get over this obsession of saving money at all costs (I could have been in a hotel the entire time but chose the cheaper rout).

Bossman said I needed to play nice even if the forest person was causing problems for everyone. So I responded with a chearful "thank you for acting like we don't know what we are doing and telling us basic common sense stuff as if we didn't already know it." ...well that...with less sarcasm. :p

@Ria. I can certainly understand the trials of spotty internet, but neuroengineering? Where's that come from?

I'm always astonished at the power drift of magic cards. ...then again I guess I'm just the old man reminiscing about when Serra Angel was the rare power house.

So land management is often interlaced with power games and politics. The different federal, state, and private interests playing for power and dominance...that sort of thing. I wont get into the nitty gritty, because its often boring and petty, but It does seem that I get to play too. Seems the forest service range person has caused problems with the ranch manager and my boss. I made a play with an olive branch, inviting her to collect data, and she kind of threw it in my face. Subtle like....in a three sentence response that mentioned that its not "how she would do things"....implying that I'm doing it wrong enough that she wants nothing to do with it.

It's an interesting play on her part...especially since I didn't know I was playing. I'm curious to see if I can play as well in person as I do on the internet with strangers. Yeah...I've made some catastrophic mistakes there, but I'd like to think that I've won more than I've lost.

Wow, feels like I've been gone for a long time. I've just been busy. Just work stuff....nothing too exciting.

@Ria....what's going on with you? It's been radio silence for a bit and I's curious.

About Kpaca...I hold no qualms against him.

I would question if this was the golden age of TV. Sure there are quality shows out there, but it's hard to find them in and between all the reality show junk.

Good to see you S_P. Are you planning on hanging around a bit? How was meeting a long lost Brother. That's deep stuff right there.

Had to intestinal palpate some first year heifers today. About elbow deep I hit a dead end...took a bit to find the right turn to keep going. Shoulder deep I found the Calf's head...bobbed up and down all healthily like...most were bout 7 months along, though two were open.

Christian Mingle dot Com....for the Mormon in all of us! Thumbs Up

Naw....that's not conservative enough for Mormons...plus I'm pretty sure they have their own site.

Good Luck Dux. Those are waters are hard to tread, especially if you are wanting more in the relationship.

I'm looking for a new place to stay. Something with a kitchen and a good sized fridge. Surprisingly, I'm finding lots of options that cost the same plus or minus $50. I don't think I've been had, but I think I've settled for an expensive option considering the conditions. Maybe I'm too nice cause I moved in 10 days into the month and still let them charge me for that.

    So far four prospective places.

Option 1: kind of an old dirty house. Looks a touch run down...but the walls seem to be holding good. Neighborhood seems nice with kids playing in the streets. The roommate looks like a laid back guy, a working kitchen, and cheap rent. I'm leaning towards this one.

Option 2: Some hippie lady? Mentioned that she goes on missions every year or so...but seemed to hint at spiritualism as opposed to christianity. Two dogs, three cats, anti-GMO, vegetarian, organic garden, and compost. Thinks that my rangeland skill can convert to gardening. On Maybe list...depends a lot on what it looks like (will visit it sunday).

    Option 3: A place for $200 a month. Haven't seen it.

Option 4: Rainbow house. House constantly used to host rainbow visitors. Couch also regularly used for couch surfing for friendly people. Must be 420 friendly.

    Ooooh...this could be fun?

Shirts are an everyday change. Pants can go as long as a week, so long as you're not hiking or sweating profusely in them. Once they get stained or develop knee dents....it's time to wash and change them.

It sounds like she was interested at first, but then grew tired of your odor there Daggs....showers and deodorant are necessary evils in the singles game. CLothes are secondary....but a clean shirt is always smart.

Nice to know I've been playing it right. I figured I had the gist of it right anyhow as it has been discussed occasionally here and there...and as an Anosmic I actually tend to be slightly more paranoid of all this since I can't tell otherwise. It's the reason I had one of those airwicks in my room for a while despite not knowing if it works. Always good to double check though since a lot of smells that should be basic are just unknown or forgotten to me.

That's not saying I didn't mess up smellwise on the trip. I didn't anticipate running out of deodorant...not like that happens often...and I misjudged the number of shirts I should have brought. Fresh underware and socks daily though...got that right. Grin

It's much easier in the field when everyone is dealing with the same conditions and nobody cares. By the end of two weeks with no shower everyone is pretty ripe, but nobody complains about smells as we sit around the campfire drinking beers.

As for the girl liking me...I kind of doubt it. I'm not very perceptive, but after the 14 hour drive up there I didn't notice anything. The trip back was somewhat irritating...but to be fair that tends to happen when you spend a lot of time with someone to that point that there's nothing new to talk about. Could have just driven in silence I suppose.

Anyway, I partnered with her again today to do an FFA competition. She was as chearful as always and I didn't pick up anything positive or negative.

I'll be working with her again this Saturday. I don't really anticipate anything beyond professional collaboration. I'm thinking if I am interested in looking for a relationship I should start being somewhat social, try to find local clubs, or join one of them online dating sites and hope the gal I'm talking to isn't 72 years old or a dude.

I don't know if I'd call that girl an absolute jerk....though perhaps a jerk in those few awkward moments I highlighted. She told me I stunk mainly because previously I had told her I had no sense of smell and would appreciate a heads up if I did stink. Unfortunately for her I ran out of Deodorant and I could have sworn that shirt had another day's use left out of it. Misjudged that I guess...I'm sure I had a cleaner dirty shirt somewhere...bah, you people and your sense of smell. :p

You know, I've always considered pants to have a much longer use than shirts. Replace the shirt at least every day if you could...every other day is fine. But Pant's...you're fine wearing the same one for a few days and its not a problem. Is that a correct assessment or do pants get all stinky fast too. Assuming no overly athletic activity occurs.....and assuming my habit of wiping my knife off on my jeans after I've stirred my coffee doesn't do anything either...

Is Delver a money card now?

@Luck. Congrats on the job. Always good to get some money pouring in. Seems to be harder and harder in this day and age. And good luck with the university. Seems you had a high score and are a shoein for something good.

Turned out everybody at the society of Range Management meeting got sick. Well most everybody...epidemics and whatever ran rampant. Enough so that I got an Email from the Oklahoma State Department of Health Acute Disease Service asking me for information on diseases. Lucky for me I somehow dodged that one....even with the girl I drove with being sick for the first 14 hours.

I'm going to be really during the next two months. I've got a FFA competition to help run tomorrow, an Envirothon educational thing this friday, and a middle school science fair to present at the next week. Then I have to prepare for two more workshops before I head to the wildfire academy to get my Fire Fighter Type 1 and chainsaw crew certification. Busy busy.

Whew...back from my international society of range management conference. Gotta say, loads of seminars and information and networking...good stuff but I'm glad its done.

Spent a total of 28 hours driving to and from the seminar with a cute girl. It did cross my mind that she might be dating material, but as we got to know each other I think I'm good with being just friends. Nothing against her, but I didn't feel like there was much there, plus about half the trip was silence. I don't know if she'd care to even be "just friends". I feel that I may have come off irritating to her...well mostly cause I sort of irritated myself. In some of the long bouts of silence I thought it'd be good to come up with some sort of conversation...but I only came up with lame fluff that usually reflected somewhat poorly on myself. Meh, oops there. Also I guess I was a touch stinky...didn't pack enough clothes and the third day wearing the same shirt'll do that I guess, but at least she told me. :-p

On the way there we shared a room, two queen size beds, but on the way back she opted to have two separate rooms. Not sure if that means anything, but I suspect I may have offended her somehow. She didn't really give me that sort of vibe...beyond a feeling that she was irritated with me and eager to drop me off when we got back...so I don't know.

I did tell the story of how my 19 hour hike where I was foolishly unprepared and ended up hiking by starlight. I've always considered that a fun story, but she seemed to feel that it was a story of failure and unpreparedness and something she'd never do. I found myself backpeddling trying to defend myself and my actions...which resulted in a bit of rambling until she emphatically told me to drop it cause the conversation ended five minutes prior. Took about half an hour before I calmed down from embarrassment. I suppose she's right though. I have heard stories from other people that they intended to represent preference and survival but really conveyed stupidity and unpreparedness. I just never realized some of my stories were the same. Oops.

Wait...there was a prerelease last weekend? Blast.....I think this "quitting magic" thing might actually stick for once. I haven't touched my cards in over a year.

Still, I think I do want to finish my Rock deck. I mean it's almost finished already, might as well get the 4 wastelands and ...at least two more $100 cards that I can't remember right now.

Been busy. My manuscript should be finished...finally. I really hope they don't send it back for revisions...I want to be done with it. I'll also be heading to Oklahoma by the end of the week. 17 hour drive...maybe Its far enough I should have flown...but flying is such a hastle.

    Snowed today. Didn't expect that.

    Quote from RUBRDUX

I don't understand why people read books. I never cared for it much. I understand it how people say they are good because you use your imagination while reading. But my point is everything in life is mostly reading already; from an average workday to driving to and from & even looking over the interwebs. I'm not gonna go sit in a corner and read paper all night. IDK, just my perspective. To each their own.
    .
    ..

Multiple reasons. First, everything in life is mostly watching things already, looking around, seeing things...with your eyes. You passively see things much more frequently than reading. So I don't see a huge difference between sitting in a corner reading something or watching something.

Second, There's a larger selection of books in every genera out there compared to tv or movies. Plenty of books that are worthy of movie status that for whatever reason are not selected by a producer. Why deprive yourself of that?

Third...probably most importantly....I'm typically in places with no electricity.

Fourth: No honey boo boo. OMG

Spent the last few days on the north rim of the grand canyon. An old ranch with the head quarters built in 1870. It's isolated, situated in a valley between the kaibab plateau and the deep gorge of the grand canyon. Some great exploring there and I hope to see more in the future.

I was there to collect fecal samples of pronghorn and mule deer. Couldn't find any. ...but in my defense, in that entire valley there are only 100 or so pronghorn. You try finding poo in that landscape. :-p

Ouch, I'm sorry to hear about that Dux. Never good to go in and get beat like that. You know, its probably because you took out the watchwolves...

    What ended up beating you?

Hey Dux....do you have any innistrad foils you are willing to sell/trade/give away? I still need to complete my innistrad foil set...which I haven't looked at in over a year. 1/3rd complete last I checked. Would be a shame to let that go to waste.

Did I mention I got a Kindle for Christmas? ....if I didn't, then let me mention that I have a kindle. Does anyone know of any cheap or free sites that have books for download? I'm not looking for anything crooked this time, I just feel that its a bit exorbitant for a publisher to expect me to buy a digital book, that is only really leased to me, for the same price (or more) as a paper book. Sure they'll tell you that the paper and transportation doesn't cost much and that the cost is really in the marketing and the fees the retailers add....I call bull**** on that.

On a similar note...anyone have any good books they would recommend. Any book that you've enjoyed'll do.

Is the writer's block gone now?

Nope...but I'm working on it. The hard part is turning it into a narrative. My target audience is an average person with no knowledge of the topic. I need to catch their attention and get them to read the whole paper. Another hard part is remembering what is Rangeland specific jargon and whats not.

I do love Pine Trees, but they are an endangered species in Portugal because of eucalyptus running rampant and killing everything around them. Now, there's an invasive tree for you :p

Well you know...you could introduce those pines to some other place and have them be invasive there. Then you'll know that your pine is giving as good as it got. Try Australia...that place can't handle non-natives worth nothing.

My lunch got moved around in the fridge today. Took me a bit to find it...just above the several hundred laboratory vials of cow blood. The soda was somewhere back behind all of that. Breakroom table was covered with drying blood samples, but there was a good corner cleaned off where I could eat. Which reminds me...I probably aughta make sure all my fecal samples are out of that freezer...
