A colleague recommended Match.com, so I opened an account and will probably pay the money to be a full blown member. Part of me wonders what I'm doing. I'm not sure I am in a position to consider even playing at a serious relationship. My debt is high, my job is only term, and I have no idea where I'll be in two years. I'll definitely shoot for a permanent job, but who knows what, where, or when that will be.

Of course if I find someone who's willing to just pick up and move to random with me then maybe I should have done this years ago...

Do you have any Tiagas? What about wastelands? I think those are the only ones I need. ...even though I haven't played in over a year.

Whew, I'm back. Roommate forgot to pay some bills, so I've been without water and internet for the last week. Was a bit of an inconvenience.

Well...I get internet at work, but I felt it would be bad mojo to be on salvation at work.

Nothing much to say. Neighbors been fighting and shouting a bit more than usual. Roommate accidently fired a round into the concrete. I haven't found any new roommates to help pay for the place. Got a fox skull in my trunk. Temps over 100 and the AC still ain't fixed. Normal stuff I guess. Probably about time to go camping.

    Opened two modern masters boxes

    box 1, foil Tarmogoyf

...They reprinted goyf? Great....I'm guessing my playset isn't worth $400 anymore. Slant

    Nice pull though

Edit: I just looked up a MM foil goyf at starcitygames. Now I know a foil goyf is money....but how the Sam Hill is a card that was just printed and is still in circulation worth $500? I mean Jimminy Christmas and good night matilda, that's just ridiculous.

Congrats on that pull JJ....a whole world better than I thought.

I'm too much of an ******** when I think people are trying to kill me in my sleep.

Me too. Woke up in the middle of the night a few nights back. Heart beating like mad as if something was wrong. I didn't know what it was, but thought that maybe the **** hit the fan with the downstairs neighbor, or thieves, or something. I armed myself and listened, waiting for whatever woke me to make their move. Would I need to defend myself, try to help someone, do something? Dunno...but the night was silent. After about a half hour of nothing I relaxed and went back to sleep. Found out the next morning that my roommate did the exact same thing. Neither of us ever figured out what caused us to get all rialed up.

Eds - Yeah Dagg, I remember saying/thinking that booting Cyan wouldn't help you get what you are owed. The sadder thing is it shouldn't have to. But if he hadn't made attempt to after all that time, it is doubtful he ever will. Frown

Well it doesn't look like there's any progress, but I'm still in contact with him and he does keep promising a payment. He just can't be bothered to follow through with any of his promises.

Glad to see you back Diggy.....it's been too long. You said you've changed a bit since last you were here...but you didn't say how. I's curious.

...Oh, and 24 isn't old. Though I guess I thought it was old back when I was 24.

I've moved beyond seasonal jobs and now have a job that should last two years. ...assuming funding keeps solid despite the sequester and budget cuts and what knot.

Old, new and past members should band together; not to writhe in what once failed them

For the most part anyway. To some extent I kind of think the last bout of drama was rather odd considering everyone involved is still talking with each other and claiming to let bygones be bygones and no hard feelings and stuff. Which is good since I consider JJ a friend and, despite my part in the drama, still consider kpaca a friend as well. Lots of history there. Still, I don't envision even mild reconciliation happening with Townos or Alex +....and wasn't there another individual that we chased out with pitchforks after he lied over and over again? Something about making up stories to Daron and others, maybe even claiming to be psychologically testing our reaction? That whole incident where BLOD bogged outright kicking him out down in bureaucracy and then quit in anger when we bypassed him.

For my part the only lingering bad blood is between me and Cyan. He and I are still on the outs and he hasn't even tried to make good on anything. I best end there for fear of delving into a bitter unending rant...

I wasn't going to interject, but I have to say this....the CALLED died during the forum drama times!

Hey, I wasn't the one chased out Alex + with a pitchfork. Townos only ripped us once or so. I think Rancored elf recovered from his slight midlife crisis. And BLOD was only slightly completely self absorbed and obnoxious...but we were bound to have drama there when he broke up with sterling. Though I guess Bel left more because of Cyan than anyone else.

I wouldn't call us dead, but the Called has been known for waves of prominence. We had our Glory days a time or two. Rancored Elf, Urza's seddatives, bellowing fool, and even BLOD made a core group way back when. I don't remember if that was the first or second wave of power...but there's a lot of history that none of us really remember. Even our archive is missing about a dozen members who once were called. When we moved over here we had another wave of power with Sakabatau, Rancored elf, Ria, myself, JJ, Belgareth, and a few others making a strong showing. That cracked pretty hard sometime in 2005 or 2006....lost a fourth of the clan if I remember right. Currently we are slow and not a single one of us was here when the clan was founded. Just looks like more of the same.... with time ebbing and flowing as it will.

I went on a fishing trip this weekend. Flew out to Minnesota on Thursday and on Friday drove up to the boundary waters with three friends. We rented canoes and rowed to an island to make camp. The next day we hiked over three overland passes and rowed threw three lakes before making camp again. Sunday we did more of the same, while exploring three more lakes and camping on another island. Monday I canoed back to the outfitters and flew home.

It was a fishing trip, with every night casting a line and hoping to hook dinner. Between the four of us we caught maybe 40 fish, with several Pike, Walleye, Small Mouth Bass, and Large Mouth Bass. We ate steaks, salted ham, and all the fish a person could ever hope for. Great eating and good company...it was a very refreshing trip.

    Cheers,

Well there are at least 6 of us...we're just rather busy at times. I know I've been a bit aloof. I'm not too worried...two weeks is a long time to trickle in and we do have the active members to do it. I just did the sweep at an inopportune time...my bad for procrastinating on that a few weeks.

Had a huge scare at work today. The university wrote in saying that my driving privileges have been revoked. Effectively ending my time here. Several phone calls in and it turns out that I was revoked because they didn't process my paperwork...despite giving it to them. So now I'm in a weird limbo where everyone is pretty sure that everything is fine.

Assuming that goes well, I was told that I'm getting a raise. A 1.5% raise may not sound like much, but the university has not given any raises in 6 years and I expected no raise at all for the entire duration of this job. So fun all around.

    Cheers,

Got a bed....but did camp out the other night. Went up on the Paria plateau with my dad. Just chilling and hiking one of the longest slot canyons in the world.

Other than that, not much. Still trying to revolutionize my mentality and image to something more respectable...well respectable for civilized life that is, Hens the bed. Next I'm gonna get drawers to separate the clean pile of laundry from the dirty pile...I even plan on folding the clothes too.

Baby steps....only five months into that new years resolution and I finally bought a bed and I ran once two weeks ago. That's something right?

Can't really say I'm truly interested in plant life, but I do like nature, and enjoy trail hikes every now and then.

Ah, but if you know plants then you can have some snackage on your hikes. I've been on hikes where along the way I eat some of what I find. Some are obvious, mounds of fresh raspberries, some are more subtle like a nice field of stinging nettle. Some licorice here, onions there, a dab of miners lettuce, ...quite a bounty at times. Works well with mushrooms too. I once had to tell a crew to take a ten minute break to collect mushrooms because they were too distracted by them to actually get any work done.

Of course if you miss identify a plant and eat the wrong one you might die...but what are the odds of that?

Been reading "Desert Solitaire" by Edward Abbey. The book has been praised as a champion of environmental thought; The Henry David Thoreau of the west. It was on sale on my kindle so I was curious about the background of environmentalism. I have my criticisms of course, but I thought the funniest thing was that he supports wilderness the same way the extreme gun right folks defend guns. Because one day you may need them to fight against the government. I didn't realize that environmentalists and gun rights were on the same page there. :p:D

@ Charlie, wow, 30 mouth ulcers....thats mean. Hope its not contagious. And congrats on becoming a moderator. I hope you don't eventually get promoted, become an administrator, then suddenly the weight of the stupid bogs your brain and overwhelms your senses to the point of increased inactivity in this clan. *Cough Yuks Cough Ria Coughs votan Cough*

Just got back from a few days of workshop. Fun stuff full of the latest rangeland info from long term monitoring on endangered species to the effect of poisonous plants on livestock. We also heard stories from old timers talking about the old timers in their day. On our field tour I even saw the biggest fricken cottonwood I've ever seen...seriously 36ft around and known as the largest man planted cottonwood in the US. Fun stuff.

The endangered plant stuff was particularly interesting. Just another example of plants that should never have been listed being listed and used as a club by environmental groups to threaten the lives of hard working Americans. One problem is that when the causes of a plant or animal's endangered status is listed, those causes are often just made up. Well, a mix of educated guess and assumptions, but it seems that more often than not those guesses are wrong.
