And Writer's block? That's though. Try and write a text where you explain what you're doing to the clan. Maybe that can get you going on the real report... Smile

Hmmm....okay. There's this plant I've never heard about before now, that's non-native and dominant, being treated with a treatment strategy I'm unfamiliar with...and results that I can't find other examples in the scientific literature. ...more detail...The United States Department of Agriculture's Forest Service lists it as an invasive species in several states, but the United States Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service basically lists it as harmless...with instructions how to plant it. Grin

Actually, its one of those neat situations where old policy has come back to haunt us. The plant is called Weeping Lovegrass (it's a grass) and back in the 1930's we thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. It was the time of the dust bowl...just before and a bit during...that managers saw poor land management causing degraded rangeland and mass erosion. The feds had a program to search for a plant to save the day, they found four from Africa they figured'll do it...one being my plant. Well it worked...skip ahead 80 years later and the grasses brought back are invasive in areas causing a world of damage. New policy is to get rid of them. But as all things government there's no communication. One agency is talking about spending millions getting rid of them, the other agency is still planting it to prevent erosion. We like to do that sort of thing.

I gots to be careful or I start rambling on. I remember Dux used to catch me on AIM while I was working on a global vegetation project. Plants were on my mind... cause I tried to keep working while talking...so I'd ask dux what he thought about the plants in a section of Africa or Kazakhstan or whatever....yeah, I think he got annoyed with me. :p

But whatever, i still say those Olive trees in Portugal are invasive. You didn't have any until the Romans brought them some 3000 years ago. Restoration demands that you fix your land back to whatever it was back before those blasted Romans. Cool (and don't get me started on Neanderthals)

My Cardinals will win it all. That QB of ours is great. And the other members in those other positions, the blockers and those that catch the ball, are all good too. They will beat whatever team currently exists out there just because I say so and I'm an Arizonian! They will demolish the Ravens! Go Super bowl...thing! Hazzah! <----one of the guys Cool

Hi JJ, didn't know you lurked around. Hows life treating you lately?

Uggg....been having writers block lately. I need to get this report done for work and I've just been staring at the computer, type a little, then delete. I know I'm not half bad at writing, but the amount of hours staring at a computer with nothing....right....hard to say I'm worth my pay for the past few days. Hope I can get this done before it gets me in trouble. Part of my job is typing up reports in a timely fashion.

I still haven't figured out if I'm going to move from here. The "no kitchen" thing is annoying, but the rent is relatively cheaper than other places. I might be obsessing a bit too much about pinching every penny. How can I settle down if I only allow myself to live in semi-temporary situations. A small room with no casual living space and no kitchen? Maybe its worth the extra few hundred bucks for my own place. I might even be happier. Technically I can afford it... Maybe its worth it?

Good to see you back yuks. Its been a very long while. what have you been up to? School treat you good? ...still in school? What was the degree you were working on again? I'm getting old...memory cuts out and all that.

I'm thinking of just axing sXe. He's been MIA for quite a while. Frown

Meh, He quit salvation altogether. So we probably wont ever see him back unless we facebook him to make an appearance. Opening a batcave up again would allow us to invite some oldies who don't come here. I know hkkid and sxe might go for that. But I haven't bothered opening up one.

So I decided not to be a part time student this semester...well it was decided for me. Seems that the deadline to register was december 1st, a bit before I started schemeing. So I'll have to try my money saving scheme this summer. Basic idea, be a part time student on paper. If I can find online classes I like, more power to me. If I can't, then drop the class after the paperwork goes through. It'll cost me money, but if I did my math right, it should save me even more. Ironic really, but my student loans are pretty high.

Well I didn't even see this until I posted in the other thread. oops on my part, but ah well.

Greetings all. I'm back from my trip to Vegas. Nothing wild, just family fun. We exchanged presents and stuff. I got a flask and some nice whiskey to go with it. ...and I haven't stopped playing with that flask. Took it skiing with me where I took a nip with every lift. Spiced up my drinks at various restaurants. And just casually sipped on a few hikes here and there. Man, what a fun toy.

I also got a Kindle Paperweight. Its black and white and claims to have a battery life of 8 weeks. I bought a few books and have been enjoying a good book. I thought it would be cumbersome or that I'd miss the feel of a real book, but it hasn't really been that bad.

The new year is looking optimistic. Like new years tend to do. I plan to eat healthier....more veggies and more red meat, lose some weight, and maybe start dating. Hazzah for resolutions.

I never got nauseated with the game, so I'm not sure what you mean. Is it really too much motion for you? Shrugs

You ever get car sick or sick on a boat? Same thing. Something about the game really gets to me and I get nauseated and need to rest. Almost had me running to the bathroom to puke a time or two. So...play a level, rest for an hour...play another level, rest for an hour. Play a long level...take a break inbetwen for an hour. Moaning and groaning and trying not to puke. Sick

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

And for those who stubbornly don't observe Christmas or can't appreciate that the day simply exists and people are saying the equivalent of "have a merry 25th of December" (Not going to mention any names :p)... Happy Festivus!

I bought some new computer games that were on sale at steam. BLOD strongly recommended Mass Effect 1 and 2, which I will play eventually. I also bought Portal 1 and 2 which is kinda my favorite game that I've never played. I was excited, but soon discovered that I get horrible motion sickness playing it. I don't know if there's any way around that, but I can't get through a single level befor getting all nausiated. :-/:mad::(

I'm home waiting for family, food, and presents. Wrapping paper ran out so my presents are hidden in grocery bags...tacky, but I don't think my family expects much more from me.

We are big on our celebration of Christmas here. Though I must admit, it might have more meaning to us if we were Christians...or believed in God.

    sooooooooooooo drunk.

The "so" constitutes like 4 words so it's not spam...

Is it now? Nonsensical, out of context, doesn't interact, doesn't have anything to do with any above posts, doesn't really add content....seems spammy to me. The disclaimer could be viewed as somewhat mocking...trolling perhaps? Or is the disclaimer more involved in telling the moderators how to moderate...probably more appropriate to consider it back seat moderation. Plus the post and disclaimer does fall afoul of the site wide grammar rules. The math's off, but I'd consider that along the lines of bad grammar than anything independent.

So definitely cardable, but what color? Your record is benign with some warnings and nothing malicious. This post itself isn't very malicious either. However, the clan does have a colorful history in its very short history, one that has been noticed. At this point yellow just doesn't seem to do anything.

Then again drunken silliness is just drunken silliness. In the context of your persona maybe that's just your thing. Although khaospawns' drunken silliness and self medicated's buzzed silliness have a quite a bit more to offer. Interesting options here...

Yeah, I can understand being lonely. There's been many a campfire where I sat alone with my rice and beans thinking that it would be nice to have company. I have stories and all that, but I need to find internet to tell folks those stories cause in real life all my friends turn into online friends cause of the traveling.

I need to do something here while I have a long term job. I'm thinking some sort of club....maybe even an online dating thing? That sounds desperate, but I've never had luck in the bar scene and who knows, it could be fun. I think I should work on my health too...getting a bit thick around the waste lately.

Going home for me is heading to my folks place in vegas and just hanging out. Probably dinners or breakfast with my siblings, chilling on the back porch with coffee and my folks, just relaxing.

I need to catch back up on the whats what at salvation. I've been a hermit in the clan thread and suddenly I find that Sene is still an admin...votan is an admin...and there are more admins I don't know about. Weird.

And Votan...you best not leave clans. Ria became admin and left clans and Yuks became admin and left clans. I became a mod to help them out...and now they's gone.

    Cheers,

Edit: On a more cheerful note... My grinder seems to be missing a gasket, causing it to puff out clouds of product. It didn't take me long to be covered in a fine green sheen of powdered poo. I Know I probably should have taken a shower before going to that restaurant..but I was hungry. besides...powdered poo doesn't smell...does it?

Are you guys looking forward to christmas and the new year?

I'm itching for vacation. I leave this friday and don't need to be back to work till next year. At least that's the plan. Hanging with the family.

I might be moving from this house. The first month was annoying, cause I had to hike around the house to go to the bathroom and even when I moved to the room upstairs I had no access to a kitchen. Which I wouldn't have minded if I wasn't spending $140 on utilities. Well one of the owner's moved in to work on it and he opened up the house so I had access to everything. Talked about a shared space and kitchen and stuff...actually made it worth my while. I even finally moved all my stuff out of my car yesterday. Then today he tells me a new plan...not really his fault since his wife calls the shots...basically puts me back at living with no kitchen. I've been thinking about that...I don't think I care to play that game for two years. I'll see what happens, but I think I'll try to find a better place for February.

Boring? Maybe. But it's also very smart. I'd just rent a cheap place and use these 2 years to save money. After that, you'll have a better financial cussion and you'll feel more secure with your life.

Yeah...that is certainly the smart way to be. I need to work on being content and patient. I'm in a good position right now, but it's from a perspective of being on the bottom looking up and seeing that as long as nothing bad happens I'll eventually have a solid financial cussion and be debt free. I'm just chopping at the bit is all...

    Quote from votan

Buying a house is overrated. Banks and real estate companies just want you think it's needed because otherwise they'd be out of bussiness...

Bah, you're only saying that cause you live in Portugal. The American Dream is a large house on 40 acres with a beautiful wife and 2.5 kids. ...or something like that. ...news keeps trying to say that the new american dream is to rent.

Spent yesterday playing with deer poo. I'll take photos to share. Grin

Sealed is really just luck... but I do know how to build a sealed deck properly for RTR - play Rakdos. :p I played Rakdos at one of the 4 prereleases I played and went 3-1 out of over 70 people, came 8th.

I actually like scealed a lot. Feels good being able to make a solid deck, even if you don't have the bombs needed. Draft is fun too. I loved innistrad when I tried building some of the staple forms of decks, like blue/green mill.

Modern is too expensive for me, though honestly I probably have most the money cards. I just haven't pulled them out of my car. I probably should since the freeze thaw cycle is probably wrecking the foils.

So....I decided to scrub the house buying idea. Main reason is that houses are stupid and I didn't want one anyway!. ...plus to make it work I would need one renter to break even and two to make money, it essentially means that I would have to rely on other people to survive. If I can't get a renter and don't have one by the time my job ends, then I go bankrupt. Worst case scenario and status quo look a little too similar to me to be comfortable.

Then there's the debt I'm saddled with. I know I've *****ed about it a ton here, but the basic math of it is that the minimum payments are $500 a month and that's hard enough to deal with. Ironically, I've discovered that education is a partial solution, so I plan to become a part time student...to save money :o.

So I'm going to play it careful and safe, where the best case scenario and worst case scenario are basically the same. ...how boring is that?

Sorry to hear about your loss there Luck. It always hurts and it always lingers a while. Just chill with your music and live for the day. Gets easier after a while and life goes on.

Take it easy charlie. That sounds particularly bad. Chicken soup is needed...have Ria bring it over, he's only a few blocks away from you anyway.

Me, I've settled down. Put down roots. Got me a long term job and am making long term plans like regular folks do. Standard 9-5 really, I even have business cards and...not one...but two offices. Even went through all sorts of training today to tow the company line. ...like if the uterus of a cow comes out I need to put it back really fast. (...or was I suppose to pull the calf out first, check for twins, then put the uterus back?)

I'm a bit worried about our clan. We have 5 active members, which means, if we keep it up, called won't make it to 2013 Frown

I think you are right to be worried. We've been slow, very slow. I know I've been prone to scrounge up something to say. But then I wouldn't be happy if we were as fast as some of the clans around here. I think there's a good medium and that we are on the bottom end of it. I'm sure we have enough momentum to survive the start of 2013. ...but does it feel like we're limping along a little?

Good luck getting in the top 8 next time charlie. I must ask, how is Selesna an agro style deck? I haven't seen it since the last ravnica...but back then selesna was slow and saproling heavy.

@Luck. what have you been up to lately? It's been a rather long time.

So Ria...you think there's any drive left. I don't think there's any of us faking...though I think we are all busy to varying degress. Yuks probably has finals right about now. There's a tendency to slow down daily checking when there's nothing new to see.

Well I did go out hiking this last weekend. Even went with someone. She asked where we were going and how long It would be...I just shrugged...I mean how should I know? I'm the one planning this thing anyway. So we went to a trail head...or tried to, my car didn't have high enough clearence to get there. But it was just as well to hike to the trail head from where we were and go on from there. Ended up hiking for over 6 hours. It was fun....if she was 30 years younger I might consider her dating material.

It makes me sad when you talk about buying a house, because I always had this picture in my mind that your home is THE ENTIRE WORLD Wink

We'll have to see how much I actually change. It's all tentative, since I have enough debts to slow down anything I do and hold me back for a few years. Really frustrating since over half my debt is due some stupid financial dealing from 5 years ago.

    Cheers,

    Daggertooth

Bah! Slow times are slow folks. So I'm going to rant, cause that's whats on my mind.

Basically I am a bit frustrated with myself. I've always prided myself in being open minded and being able to see several sides of many issues. It's why I can be friends with crazy people like BLOD, regular hippies, and stereotypical range folks. ...recently I've discovered that I've been losing some of that open mindedness. Maybe its the people I hang out with, maybe its my industry, or maybe its the difference in philosophy...but for whatever reason I find myself being overly annoyed with Environmentalists.

I've indirectly clashed with them several times and it always feels that as an organization they have a ton of money, political power, and are rather detached from the realities of nature and the environment. In Arizona they've lost a bit of power because the policies they push, though well meaning, tend to be destructive in the long run...at least compared to what they "think" is suppose to happen. I find myself smiling a bit too much at their loss of power.

I'm not sure if I need to do some soul searching to re-align my impartiality. It is needed for proper debate and collaboration after all...and I hear the vortexes and crystals can do wonders in re-alignment. I guess thats logic. However part of me likes the direction I'm going...wants me to take a position, a banner, and run with it. Actively oppose those environmentalists instead of just being annoyed and complain about them.

Not a big deal I guess...but it is a shift in philosophical identity. I wonder how much of what I'm basing my thoughts on is just false propaganda.

    cheers,

    Daggertooth
