Actually, darksteel cards have a heavier price because they have something that most cards want. Being indestructible. That one thing ups the mana cost of darksteel cards.
Have either of you gentlemen thought about that?
I understand but there is a big big big difference between indestructible and indestructible with 0 power and 1 toughness it doesnt even have reach or anything it is virtually useless by itself except for making the assumption your opponent will have minnimal creatures and none with flying at that
Something taht we could have seen coming. I like it, but it's uses are pretty limited. Worth noting is that it's the cheapest indestructible creature yet; that stays a creature, and doesn't need a counter in play
Lack of flavor text is disappointing.
more interestingly they felt it better fitting to explain indestructible in a Block set...lol
So we need something like "bigger axe: equipped creature gains first strike and +2/+0" before this is even worth considering, but would that alone be enough in this environment?
seems pretty useless with how many */-x effects there will be in standard in addition to infect i would rather just run another set of mana dorks in a myr aggro deck with how they are looking right now
@Everyone excited about myr aggro: The card costs 7 mana
That's one powerful hatebear.
lol have you read what myrs do they produce mana(a lot of them) 7 mana is actually pretty generously low for how much power it packs. Since they are reprinting all of the original mana dorks 7 is VERY generous especially with the one that makes 2 colorless and with mox opal. Why on gods earth would 7 mana be seen as too much i should think to ask. with not even a lucky hand you could play this on turn 4 every game if its in your hand.
and leonin is going to encourage mono-color idiot deck building GG thanks WotC we like when uncreative decks win
wow.....so basically they make one fairly balanced good set then they decide to make a set as broken as the original mirrodin was cool beans thanks WotC.
i like uwr control better and always have i never liked the idea of dropping R to begin with earthquake and ajani vengeant are in my opinion the best 2 cards in UWR control and they contain red but i like flame lash too because it helps your vamp match-up and jund matchup
hello bloodwitch you now have an answer other than day of judement =]
Theres so much crap you can do with enemy shards just fiddle with angelfire and black red white in aggro and control forms and you will find something you like
just do it on MWS or something before you get the cards for it so you are sure what you like best first
who gives a rats ass if you have to buld around it if the deck you build around it is good
okay ball lightning is 6-7 dollars and you can only use it in mono red also why would you run a lorwyn lord that was good in a deck that wasnt tribal you always have to build around certain cards thats not what makes a cards good its what sets its value
it DOES have a use and it will be a decent card in grixis
New Sarkhan's main problem is that he needs to be built around. He doesn't just get thrown into most rb decks.
He is a very powerful planeswalker, under the right circumstances. Knowing if those circumstances will be attainable is unknown until we get more cards from RoE. If I'm not mistaken, there's one more instance of Dragon remaining in the Orb. This Dragon might be ridic good, who knows.
On a final note, I have a borderline competitive level deck that will get an IMMEDIATE upgrade with this new Sarkhan.
I get value out of those via playing 4x Bazaar Trader to keep those cards around forever, and 4x Vampire Aristocrat to sacrifice them so my opponent doesn't get them back if the Trader plan goes awry.
To fill out the deck, Abyssal Persecutor goes well with both the Trader and Aristocrat. Against some decks such as RDW and Eldrazi Green, giving the opponent a Persecutor can be a win condition in and of itself.
Since I'm playing Trader I might as well play a few Immortal Coil for the instant win if I draw it. Why not?
I'm thinking that this deck would be a lot better if I moved the Blightning to the sideboard because I don't usually cast them against aggro decks, and Sarkhan the Mad makes these combos a lot smoother, and gives me another potential win condition.
Is this deck tearing up the scene? No, not yet. Will it? I doubt it will break the format open, but it's amazing against every deck I play against, save Jund.
However, that's a problem. If the new set has some Jund answers, this deck WILL be tier 1.
this is what im talking about also it is a deck that will take an unbelievably larger ammount of thinking than any other RB deck ever made its giving me goosebumps TBH the aristocrat just take their stuff and sac it or give it to yourself permanently. take their stuff temporarily sac it with sarkhan and they lose their creature and you get a 5/5 dragon woot sauce. bazaar trader not doing much for you ATM? sac it for a 5/5 dragon why dont ya! also bojuko bog and immortal coil? sweeeet instant win with a bazaar trader in play.
its like a combo deck that is filled with millions of sub-combos but like if you have any 3 of 12-13 pieces you can own face. its a really cool deck idea.
okay now
im gettting CRAZY ideas
there is no way WotC isnt trying to push some kind of suicide terrorist R/B deck now
pieces are all there
1. abbysal persecutor
2. bazaar trader
3. imortal coil
4. sarkhan vol
5. misc. take creature till EOT spells
this would make a sweet ass addition to that BR idea people were tinkering with it just makes it easier to use stuff like bazaar trader and persecutor because it gives them more utility even beyond the just situational. now your only out isnt to give the persecutor to your opponent you can sac it with your PW that can do so much more as well
actually i dont like BR but this is really grinding my deckmaking gears now. I thought he only looked like any other mediocre planeswalker but the more I think about it the more applications I start to think of for this guy.
lol would have still been pure crap at 1/1
I would rather run reanimator skeleton than this at 1/1

Have you played magic before? they like to make bad cards regardless of purpose sometimes lol. (or unneccesarily underwhelming rather.)
i dont get the first strike thing having immunity against infect doesnt give him that much more value with only 1 toughness

im only sad about dropping red cuz i lose access to my side board sparkmage sharp shooters with collar =P
