    Hi all,

Scenario: 2/2 trample creature attacks into morph creature blocking. Attacker plays +1/+1 and pro green pump spell. Defender flips morph creature as green 6/7befire damage resolves. Does 3/3 attacker (after pump) get through green blocker for 3 damage?

    Thanks!

How are you guys sideboarding against UB draw go? When I am on the draw, even after sideboard, I have a tough time battling through all their counters and tiago's. I am running the Sondag list but may look into the monogreen list, granted it probably doesnt have a good match up vs. UB either.

And I defintely feel dissipate is a strict upgrade from cancel. Can you actually name a situation where you would rather have cancel?

    Alright....bare with me.

I have one creature card in my graveyard, zero in my opponents 'yard. Opponent is at 2 life, I am at 6 life. My opponent has one card in hand and a dauthi maurader on the battlefield. I have one card in hand and a mortivore on the battlefield.

My opponent attacks, bringing my life to 3. Then he casts another maurader. If I dissapate the maurader my mortivore only is a 1/1 and I lose, if I have cancel I counter the maurader and my mortivore is a 2/2. Win!

At OP: I am sorry but I completely disagree. With the Titan cycle (almost certainly) being reprinted, there is no incentive to play any other cards with mana cost greater than 5 because you could just ramp into a titan. If you take out Titans from standard there may be many options and creativity but at this point I don't see it.

Dont get me wrong I will still be battling with some janky Birthing Pod list and having a blast, but competitively there seems to be less creativity with M12.

I'm just going to say it, I think this card is bad. IMO for this card to even be decent you need to go out of your way to not pick artifacts and take synergistic cards like molder beast or viridian revel, and even then the power level is not worth the cost in flexibility

So by your same logic day of judgement is a bad card to draft unless you go out of your way to not pick creatures? No, sometimes you need to clear the board even if you have creatures still in play. Considering that SOM is a artifact block, creeping corrosion acts as a pseudo-DOJ. Yeah, sometimes you will play a deck with little to no artifacts and then you side creeping corrosion out.

Overall, I would say that it is at least a second or third pick if you are already in green or even if you only have a few phyrexian-costed green cards

I know before NPH Big Red had a pretty favorable matchup vs. TS SLagstorm being a big reason...but that may not be current (or even correct, haha). After battling a little more today with UB it is pretty depressing facing TS and I may have to try out a new deck.

Just wondering, what's the big deal about ratchet bomb?

Also how does this deck beat tempered steel? It looks like BSZ is the only way.

After some time playing with the deck and even building a dedicated sb to Tempered Steel, I have found that matchup to be 40-60 at best. If you can stall til turn 5 and then blow them out with BSZ its a win, otherwise that matchup is impossible. I still would take my chances with UB Control because the matchups against the rest of the field, maybe besides B infect, are quite winnable.

Played a bunch of matches today with this list: The SBing is very clean. Still loving Dismember. Verdict is fantastic vs the mirror and decks with Thrun. It's passable vs Steel WW. Still not missing Black Sun's Zenith, maybe because of the 3/1 Verdict split.

I'm trying to decide between Rager and Commando. Rager takes pressure off the mana base and is a better turn 4 play. If I end up cutting Despise, Rager gets worse. Thoughts?

I run a pretty similar list with the exception of running Commandos and BSZ, the latter of which I have found to be a neccesity against TS, but that is because I can't seem to beat Mirran Crusader without it, because the verdict usually is worthless vs. TS.

I was wondering what matchups you bring in Phyrexian Vatmother? Is that for combating Big Red? or just midrangy decks in general?

I've been running a similar build, and I have found a few problems with it. The biggest thing is the deck runs too slow to compete with Tempered Steel and B/x infect, at least pre-board.

To combat this I think it is crucial to have main board viridian emissary, and if your mana base allows, psychic barrier. I would try replacing the "mage" package with these and see if the deck can hold off the faster decks in the format.

As far as the control matchup this deck is pretty good, especially with violition reins out of the sideboard. Landing a Sphinx is such a blow out if the opponent doesn't immediately have a kill spell, and thrun definitely is a beating.

I would say yes. If they are already at 6 Poision counters on one forest it means you are at least turn 6. If you don't have any other mana on turn six to pay the 1 mana something else is wrong with your deck.

No, this is turn 3 after you played a giant growth and a mutagenic growth on turn two.

A reasonable scenario in today's mono green infect decks.

On topic: Giant Growth has been an efficient yet boring card for over the last decade, and has definitely won me some limited games, but in constructed it has always been lackluster. Maybe it's replacement will see some constructed value?

Predator's Strike is 'strictly better', due to trample, despite its higher cost. Without it, a 50/50 monster can be stopped by an Ornithopter.

What if you are stuck on one forest with a Glistener Elf attacking and your opponent, with no blockers, is at 6 poison? Is Predator's Strike still "strickly better?

Hey! I was wondering if posts/archives from old standard and extended formats (like Lorwyn-Shadowmoor-Shards Standard) were still available for viewing?

    Thanks in advance!
