    Dear wotc,

I would gladly sacrifice five, no six goats if you would print a Serra card.

I would slit their throats, bathe in their blood, and burn their hearts as offering to you should you do me this small kindness.

posted a message on How do you feel about infinite combos?
I try to build my decks so that the have multiple ways to win and try to encourage other's in my play-group to do the same. I also try to encourage players who dislike combo to run and hold onto removal or meta cards, and explain timing options for cards such as Deadeye Navigator or mike/trike. Sometimes the frustrating thing about combo is not knowing how to dismantle it, and just a small amount of knowledge and deck preparation can go a long ways.

By the way, is Voyager Staff considered "flex"? Never played with it, personally.

Also, how about Frantic Search? Seems like an awesome way to draw/discard, essentially for free.

I run both of these cards. I would cut Frantic Search before Windfall, but they really serve two different jobs. Voyager Staff is one of my favorite cards in the deck and just seems to open so many lines of play. I would cut executioner's capsule before it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I do appreciate it, but at this moment we have a lot of newer plays and my playgroup is trying to soften a bit to help them enjoy the game. While our core players have a well developed meta and enjoy a tight competitive game, we want to ease in the new blood and retain them rather than scare them off with bad play experiences due to board locks and no-win scenarios. Forcefield provides some protection while also avoiding negative play experiences. I should have been more clear about that in the first post - i was just a bit tired.

I've enjoyed HangarBack a great deal in my Glissa deck, but it recurs and extracts value in a very different way than Sharuum. Baleful Strix is probably my weakest creature slot, and I'd never pull it for Hangarback. I'd get Glassdust Hulk or Sharding Sphinx first. That being said I'm open to listening to an argument for walker's favor, but I foree it being a hard sell.

There is so much to learn from this thread that it's difficult to absorb in one reading.

My suggestion? Don't put anything into your engine deck that you don't personally understand. I assure you that many, if not all, of the cards discussed will go through at least one iteration of your deck. If your having difficulty with a card or interaction then ask, and if it still doesn't feel right then cut it. It may not match your style or meta, and that's ok.

Look at any card in the deck and ask yourself "When would I tutor for this, and why?"

Sometimes the table just has your number. I've had games where I ate five+ artifact targeted wipes by turn ten before being crypt'd. The deck (value sharuum) is actually already well geared to go against control. Just runn out trinkets and innocuous widgets first. They're useful for defense but not worth countering. Then try baiting counters with dangerous sounding stuff like Time Sieve or Mindslaver before actually playing a real engine card.

Basically, Play for second place until it's time to win.

As much as I'd like to believe that I'd really love to hear how you get 4 Force of Wills (430$ total), for example, for 20$ each in 2015.

I remember trading Balduvian Horde for entire playsets of Force of Will. That's how most long term players have all of these expensive cards. You see a $200+ Tundra, and I see a land that I traded a Shivan Dragon for back when revised was still on game shelves.
