Besides what's already been said, one point specifically on limited resources - limited resources would be fine and not banned if it worked as intended and said "as long as there are (5 x number of players) lands, players can't play lands." The problem is when played early it says "2 players get 3 lands and 2 players get 2...forever." God forbid it's a 5+ person game. It's just a card that wasn't designed with multiplayer in mind. Same reason trade secrets is banned.
Balance could honestly maybe be unbanned imo. While it's extremely nasty and broken when built around, (1) it takes a lot of effort to build around, you need a ton of artifacts, ways to sac lands, discard cards, no creatures, tutors to hit it reliably, etc...it's really a build-around combo piece, not an unconditional land/hand/board wipe and (2) I thought the point of the banlist was to ban stuff that's accidentally evil, not stuff that's only evil if you really work at it. Otherwise food chain, doomsday, lab man, etc would be banned to oblivion. -

Drowsy Emperor posted a message on as a female player the new art style females is getting really annoyingIt's just politics, and everyone knows the best way to solve perceived but unproven and dubious problems, while virtue signalling, is to go full reverse on whatever the "problem" is.Posted in: Magic General
I grew up looking at semi naked, or just plain naked women on Frazetta's art and never saw (and will never see) the problem. In fantasy all the warriors are impossibly muscled, the rogues impossibly dexterous and the women impossibly beautiful. Conan and Red Sonya are two sides of the same coin. It is literally the way the genre works and it neither pretends to have nor has any bearing on reality. Or even intent to affect it.
However, the people who are imposing this discussion on everyone do and the rest of us have to suffer through their ideological militancy, and all the absurdity it comes with. -

ISBPathfinder posted a message on What SCG Con Taught Sheldon About Commander And Its PlayersPosted in: Commander (EDH)Quote from Taleran »
I find flaw in the reasoning that just because a deck plays those archetype it elevates them directly into being a competitive deck.
I find it kind of rude for me to be playing a fair mono white deck with angels and stuff and my opponent is playing MLD. I would like to pick something at least a little more appropriate to play against that kind of a tactic. There are a lot of fair decks in magic that really can't hold a flame to that style or level of deck unless they are designed to play that way. I am not saying that you have to tell me what your deck does beforehand but saying you are playing a competitive deck will tell me not to play casual angels against it.
I am just saying I want a chance to play said game of magic. This is a social game. If you want to goldfish games of magic where I can't interact then why am I even playing? I play magic for the back and forth exchange not to see if I can win a game nobody else is playing. -

Shea_0 posted a message on Blue cantrips banned - Best options? The priority should be to not adopt WoTC's banlist from their digital version of EDH into the paper version.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
The EDH ban list is managed by players, this is financially inconvenient for WoTC
so what do they do?
Start elbowing into the ban/restrict process by doing exactly what we've seen with these blue cantrips in the digital form
WoTC wants us to be on the forums worrying about how to adapt our paper format to their digital format even though they do not share a ban list. (I think you're only hurting yourself to play paper EDH using the whack home brew digital Commander ban list)
WoTC can go pound sand. I'll keep my EDH decks in line with the actual banlist, seperate from their BS thank you very much! Try making a better format of your own, manage that into oblivion while you're at it too WoTC!

Jay13x posted a message on Sharuum, Everyone's Favorite KittyPosted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
I believe it can, because you'd choose the physical card Sharuum to put in your graveyard as a state-based action, before you declare targets for the ETB ability. This is how the combo worked previously, more or less, except you couldn't choose which Sharuum died, so it would always be the other Sharuum. But the timing is the same.Quote from trancer99 »How does the combo with Mirrorpool work? Sharuum cant come into play and target itself can it?
Simply put, you would crack Mirrorpool and copy the 'true' Sharuum. Copy ETBs, true Sharuum dies and is resurrected with the copy's ability. From then on, you'd let true Sharuum die every time, and target itself with it's ability because by the time you choose the target, it's already in the graveyard thanks to the Legend rule.
Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone. -

I would gladly sacrifice five, no six goats if you would print a Serra card.
I would slit their throats, bathe in their blood, and burn their hearts as offering to you should you do me this small kindness.

I run both of these cards. I would cut Frantic Search before Windfall, but they really serve two different jobs. Voyager Staff is one of my favorite cards in the deck and just seems to open so many lines of play. I would cut executioner's capsule before it.

My suggestion? Don't put anything into your engine deck that you don't personally understand. I assure you that many, if not all, of the cards discussed will go through at least one iteration of your deck. If your having difficulty with a card or interaction then ask, and if it still doesn't feel right then cut it. It may not match your style or meta, and that's ok.
Look at any card in the deck and ask yourself "When would I tutor for this, and why?"

Basically, Play for second place until it's time to win.

I remember trading Balduvian Horde for entire playsets of Force of Will. That's how most long term players have all of these expensive cards. You see a $200+ Tundra, and I see a land that I traded a Shivan Dragon for back when revised was still on game shelves.
