Yes, for the most part, but during Snapcaster Mage's time in standard, hell no it would have been insanely to powerful and would have made R/U/x decks way to dominant.

What are your overall opinions towards this planeswalkers? What guild does it best fit into in the RtR block? Strengths and weaknesses?

To many people thought the second ability was Fact or Fiction, spoiler alert it's not and will be, it will however still be a powerhouse once Innistrad Block rotates in the fall, card draw in any form is powerful. The first ability is somewhat relevant, but more of a deterrent then anything. The ultimate is irrelevant and almost always will be even after rotation in October. Izzet is the best color combo and Grixis fits him best.

I shot a video recently about this, but still haven't gotten the chance to upload, but my best guess would be Cycling or more logical creaturecycling ie Wizardcycling, Slivercycling etc. Grin

Starcitygames seems to have plenty of misprinted cards that they sell at premium prices, but I don't know anyone who collects misprints/miscuts. Do you guys?

There's a small community of them within the magic community, the most well known is this guy.

    https://www.youtube.com/user/themisprintguy

But he's more of the major miscut / 2 cards in one then the minor miscut the OP posted.

...Standard is better than it has been for years...

You can play which ever colour combination you want and there is several decks in each achetype hasn't been like that in a long time.

The meta is rotating like it should be... Aggro is losing to "combo" really hard right now Junk reanimtor is taking everything down.

There is two good control decks Esper and RWU... both can shut down the reanimtor decks they will be on top in a week or two.

As for prices.. I have decided to just aviod white as much as I can both white aggro and white control is too expensive right now. Also any of the power mid range creatures hurt the hip pocket... in my opinion there is a lot of un explored space in RUG and BUG.

Standard is great, I think that it is just you that is not worthy of standard. Its not a disgrace it is just different to the kind of magic you want to play which where no one but you gets to have fun.

To me it's very similar to the standard of the tail end of Shadowmoor/Alara Block that led into Alara/Zendikar Jund dominance. Which is not good cause it means we might be close to another CawBlade standard. :turd::grumpy::mob:

There is, but they call it a glass display.

This, every LGS I've ever been in has one. Let It Go

Both my LGS and another near it have both stated that they will be selling boxes to people. At least 3 people I've talked to have already pre-ordered from them.

This Standard is not the best of all time, but it is better then it has been the past 2-4 years. The format is diverse with many viable competitive decks, even a touch of combo.

This and the fact that there is no "best deck" makes people want to play the format. Unlike CawBlade standard where you'd rather see a movie then play another mirror match of "Who gets jace down first". Caution Into The Wind

    Quote from TheLizard
The biggest travesty in Magic is that under some conditions, games are decided by who can afford to spend more money on game pieces.

This, but not always the case especially in today's standard were a little bit of cash can get you a long way.

  • posted a message on Curse of Death's Hold question
My opponent has a Curse of Death's Hold targeting me. On my turn I cast an Angel of Glory's Rise getting back 2 Kessig Malcontents , 2 Burning-Tree Emissary and a Fiend Hunter . Will the malcontents triggers go on the stack or would they just die to the curse without ever getting the change to deal damage because of the other humans?

If I have a Fiend Hunter exiling an Angel of Glory's Rise and sac the hunter to an Undercity Informer targeting myself, will the angel's ability resolve before or after the mill trigger?

  • posted a message on What if they did a post modern format ?
    Quote from Landrid
For example say in 5 years during the 25th aniversary they changed the card frames. Then in another 5 years introduced a format called post modern?

Modern would feature current frames and new frames and would serve as a legacy of sorts while post modern would take up the mantle that modern left effectively refreshing the format.

    Could it work?

Modern came about 8 years after introducing the current frame type.

I'd think it would be more logical for wizards to reprint original duals, FOW and such in the next 5-10 years since if the name is still in existence by then quite a few of those cards really won't be. I could honestly see wizards doing something like this for M14 (20th Anniversary set) as it would serve both to let newer players break into the format without having to break the bank. Or if nothing else do something similar to Modern Masters with Legacy Legends since a lot of legacy staples would have to be auto banned in Modern.

I wouldnt be surprised if someone stole most of it. At least the walmarts around here you can find tons of the cardboard without packs in it.

Happens at the one by my LGS quite a bit, but also if my store owner is in a pinch (he or the other owner forgot to order product) they will send people over to buy out the inventory for drafts and stuff.

I see your burning tree emissaries. I play a supreme verdict. Congratulations, you just got lots-for-1'd and have almost no cards in hand.

Standard is fine. BTE is good, but it isn't the "End of standard". When Jund was around and 8-year-olds were regularly making Day 2 of a GP, that was when Standard was in trouble. It survived that, it'll survive this.

I'm sorry CawBlade standard was a much worse time then Jund ever was. At least in Jund standard there were different lists, sideboard included, no 2 were the same and there was never a best deck. CawBlade was such a boring and remedial standard that it forced bannings. In fact I had this very conversation at Game Day earlier today and nearly slapped a guy in the face on principal for saying CawBlade standard was fun and required any skill level and that Jace TMS could and should be un-banned in Modern.
