Mar 12, 2008Itinerant Soldier posted a message on To quit or not to quitTBH, having time for Magic at college is hit or miss. It is mostly weekend stuff there because so much time has to be focused on work. First thing I'd do is scout the DCI site and see what registered shops are around the college. After there, I'd just take it one step at a time. Maybe you just need to lessen your involvement instead of just outright quit. Hope this helped...Posted in: Psi's Blog

Apr 4, 2007Itinerant Soldier posted a message on [Deck] 'Tings and 'Tings and 'TingsI saw that. Weird timing, IMO. I like most of his deck including the Insidious Dreams but what I don't like is he put an extraneous combo in the deck. I've always been "the deck is the deck and if you go away from the deck you've lost focus" kinda guy. But it's certainly an interesting take on it tho. Definitely took most of that decklist to heart.Posted in: ItSos Implode-o-rama

And sorry about the recent death of cats. Not good to see them go in a group like that after that long. -

Thanks to gorckat for finding this quiz too. Kinda fun to reaffirm the word used to describe your choice of religion. I just hope no one in the government sees this and puts me at 75% terrorist... -
Feb 9, 2007Itinerant Soldier posted a message on More MomoconIt's definitely a video game character. That missing character goes by the name of Lady from Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, if I'm not mistaken. However, that HUGE gun looks nothing like a bazooka with a machete at the end like Lady carries so I could be wrong. The costume is right tho... It could just be the angle.Posted in: Alacar's Design Zone
Anyway, nice pictures all. Entertaining indeed. -

Well anyway I've been working on this U/G aggro type deck but I'm not really sure how it's gonna do. Here's my draft of it:
T2 Quick-beats:
4 Darksteel Colossus
2 Keiga, The Tidal Star
3 Azusa, Lost but Seeking - Why I need more than one of this legend should be obvious
3 Sword of Kaldra - Powerhouse on a Colossus... or anything else for that matter
4 Thought Courier - To get rid of my extra legendary stuff... or just reshuffle a colossus
4 Sakura Tribe-Elder
4 Sylvan Scrying
4 Reap and Sow
4 ?? - Not sure what I need here...
4 Thirst for Knowledge
4 Serum Visions
4 Urza's Mine
4 Urza's Tower
4 Urza's Power Plant
5 Forest
4 Island
That ?? is exactly why I'm asking for help on this one. I know I need removal of some sort as an instant.. but what? Also, I'm not exactly sure on the land setup... I'm thinking I should only have 3 of the Urza-tron but then again that would lessen the chance to get off the quick beats huh?... Any suggestions?
Crimson Avatar, The Enraged 3RR
Legendary Creature - Spirit Avatar
Whenever Crimson Avatar, The Enraged attacks you may pay 1RR. If you do, Crimson Avatar gains Trample and First Strike and gets +3/-3 until end of turn.
1RR: Switch target creature's power and toughness until end of turn.
3/4
Plain, yes. But it can be a powerhouse no?
Evil Gains 2UB
Enchantment
Sacrifice a creature: Choose one: Draw a card and you lose 1 life; or target creature you control becomes unblockable until end of turn.
I dunno about anyone else but I think it's getting harder to make up unique abilities...
X: I agree that Rewind sucks for your deck considering I'm playing a similar style deck(control/long-term win), I think I'd know. Replacement options: Thoughtbind (which may or may not work)... otherwise not much else. Maybe that Disrupting Shoal from Betrayers might help. It reads "XUU Instant - Arcane You may remove a blue card with converted mana cost X in your hand from the game rather than pay Disrupting Shoal's mana cost. Counter target spell if it's converted mana cost is X." As for draw, I agree on your points with the Wargear and the Top, Counsel of the Soratami might work well if you're ok with the Sorcery draw considering it's T2... but if you wanna keep the Thirsts I'd rather go with the Pulse of the Grid honestly because of it's bring back factor... but that's just me...
In other news, deck critique! I have one question on the Ion Storm deck having never played that sort of deck. Does the mana come quick enough for you? I know that there's 24 land which is the right amount for that deck but with the 1R requirement I'd think you'd need fast mana or at least some mana acceleration even if it's only in the form of a Solemn Simulacrum or Wayfarer's Bauble. Otherwise, X covered everything else.
About the clan contest, which 5 members are gonna get their cards in (best 5 cards or the council members?) and what about the land and generics; who's gonna make those cards up?
X: I used to be in that same pattern of sleep. It sucks like a bull crapping on your head. If you're sick it's probably the flu or a cold or something but I wouldn't rule out walking pnumonia if you're sleeping like that... If it's not that you're probably just like me and get hyper all easy as hell.
Well due to time constraints that's all for now.
3 Mana Seism
3 Fireball
3 Trade Routes
3 Seismic Assault
4 Thoughtbind
3 Sensei’s Divining Top
4 Serum Visions
4 Hinder
4 Mana Leak
4 Magma Jet
4 Electrostatic Bolt
3 Solemn Simulacrum
2 Hearth Kami
4 City of Brass
9 Island
8 Mountain
SB Pending
As to why this update is so late is because I thought it wouldn't work in the current T2 format because I always got mana flooded in the old version of the deck (AKA... too dang slow). Now for explanations:
Mana Seism - Win Case 2/Mana flood
Thoughtbind - Personally I find this better than condescend in my deck, especially after using condescend in my deck to no good effect.
Jens - Land fetching... duh.
Everything else should be pretty obvious.
Anywho, votes now forthcoming...:
1. Rev
2. TNK
3. Wolfwood
4. Choco
5. Qwerty
Most of my votes were for the "seniority" if y'all can understand what I'm saying.
In other news, GTA3 for NES? Sorry but I only thought the game worked well in 3d... especially after playing GTA:SA for the past week. And by the way, is it just me or is SA an easy game?
Next post: who knows?
P.S. Oh yeah is PH4YT3 5P!NN3R guy gonna show over here? Also, the Communism is over... turns out salvation was uncensored just under an hour ago on the 'news... ugh what a world we live in...
As for the game, I've played only once or twice since mid-december because of the holidays (card shop was closed). I still haven't been able to work on the stupid Time Stop deck because no one (even in Plattsburgh) gots Time Stops and that's just bad, man. Sad, eh? Lookin' forward to Betrayers... but that might just suck too...
Anyway just wanted to stop in to make sure my presence is felt at least once this year. I really do suck don't I?...
