Mar 12, 2008Itinerant Soldier posted a message on To quit or not to quitTBH, having time for Magic at college is hit or miss. It is mostly weekend stuff there because so much time has to be focused on work. First thing I'd do is scout the DCI site and see what registered shops are around the college. After there, I'd just take it one step at a time. Maybe you just need to lessen your involvement instead of just outright quit. Hope this helped...Posted in: Psi's Blog

Apr 4, 2007Itinerant Soldier posted a message on [Deck] 'Tings and 'Tings and 'TingsI saw that. Weird timing, IMO. I like most of his deck including the Insidious Dreams but what I don't like is he put an extraneous combo in the deck. I've always been "the deck is the deck and if you go away from the deck you've lost focus" kinda guy. But it's certainly an interesting take on it tho. Definitely took most of that decklist to heart.Posted in: ItSos Implode-o-rama

I'd make this longer but I can't go over 500 characters. I'm PM'ing my full response to this. Thanks for the feedback! -

And sorry about the recent death of cats. Not good to see them go in a group like that after that long. -

Thanks to gorckat for finding this quiz too. Kinda fun to reaffirm the word used to describe your choice of religion. I just hope no one in the government sees this and puts me at 75% terrorist... -
Feb 9, 2007Itinerant Soldier posted a message on More MomoconIt's definitely a video game character. That missing character goes by the name of Lady from Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, if I'm not mistaken. However, that HUGE gun looks nothing like a bazooka with a machete at the end like Lady carries so I could be wrong. The costume is right tho... It could just be the angle.Posted in: Alacar's Design Zone
Anyway, nice pictures all. Entertaining indeed. -

Anywho, can't diss the picks of Tony and Kahne as favorites (especially Tony this time of year... Jr. tends to work a lot with him at plate tracks if Mikey ain't around or ain't doin' so well). Heck I think Kahne will actually win a race this year after so many close calls during the last season... I for one hope so anyway...
As for the Daytona, I'm not makin any predictions as to who is going to win. Just too complicated....
I just dropped in to ask two questions concerning the prizes for the contests I plan to hold: 1) How would you feel if we have council members as well as me rotating to make up contest ideas instead of just me? And 2) How does everyone feel as artist proofs as prizes every now and then? Keep in mind they won't be the uber expensive ones but more like great uncommon and mid-cost rare ones...
First off I'd like to start off with the prize contest thingy: A) I'd be paying for the prizes and therefore I wouldn't be eligible to win them... although if others want to give it a whirl I'd be fine with that B) I would be able to send internationally since it's just small prizes and postage probably wouldn't cost more than 5 - 7 bucks US unless you live in a war zone... C) I'd be judging it all so council members can participate.... and so it isn't necessarily biased if you get what I'm sayin'... And D) as of right now I haven't hit any snags in it... the only one i'd foresee happening is that the packages get mistaken for a mail bomb and get confiscated by the feds... trust me it's happened to me already three times in the past year when sending magic cards.
DarkParas: Good start I just thought I should mention that if you want to join you should post up at least one deck you built and tell us what format its in (casual, T1, T2, etc.) but I'm not exactly sure we're taking new members at the moment as we can only hold so many people here and not get totally confused. The council would really know that however since they're the ones that yea or nay you in the clan.
Also, I just got Xenosaga II yesterday and I gotta say that game is da bomb if you're into RPGs guys. It's somewhat hard to get at first but you can pick it up quickly once you get into and you don't really need a clear save from the first game but it does unlock stuff in the game if you do have one... Oh and if you do get it I wouldn't suggest reading the damn instruction booklet... they ain't ever any good.
Consolewars: The X-box problems you have Static don't surprise me... I had a friend who had to have his repaired three times in a year because the system didn't hold up well over time... And I totally agree with Qwerty on which one to get... I don't even have clue which one I'm getting next.. but it probably won't be X-box next since I'm more into fighters and RPGs but who knows.
Anywho, congrats to everyone here for comin' in 2nd on that contest. I knew the card making would be easy for us. After all, since we don't use netdecks (or very minimally) it's just easier to be creative.
Secondly, I agree. The "hate" stops here. 'Nuff said.
Thirdly, I'm thinking of starting a monthly in-clan contest for a small prize. It won't be much and won't start 'till march. The prize might be one or two packs at best of the new stuff but it'll be free for us. The only catch is that enough of us will have to participate. I'd like at least 7 of us to participate in each since the prize is small. And so as not to get anyone's hopes up this isn't definite yet. After all, where I live it's rather hard to get to the card shop. The only way there is if I can get a ride up or I can walk there (almost a mile and a half; and no bikes allowed may I add). Oh and the contest could involve anything from building a deck to making up a character story.
Lastly, as to why I haven't showed up in while, I'm frickin' addicted to Tiger Woods PGA 2005. I dunno why; I just love that game. And I don't even like golf.
Anywho, played with decent players for the first time since December (I think that's why every deck I've made since stinks like a rotten skunk). Still trying to finish off that R/U deck though. It's hard considering I need 2 City of Brass, 1 Meloku, and 3 Hinder (all of which are considered the "it" cards here) to finish it off. If anyone is willing to trade or quote me a price on them for selling purposes lemme know.
Also I found out an interesting fact last night too. Out of all the players around my town, which numbers 20, at least 12 of them smoke pot everyday. Is that common anywhere else? Well, that high a percentage anyway. (Note: I'm not dissin' the pot... can't be a hypocrite ya know?)
Xen: Honestly, didn't know you were gay either until you said it a while back... but, seriously, I don't care and hopefully that doesn't offend you. After all, I wish less people cared who was gay and who was straight.
It starts with George Bush coming out of a hole then goes to the text "Must be four more years of heck..."
If you don't wanna make this one I can understand why and it's cool... just a rare political 'tar for me
My feelings on this game: Pats 24-21
Most likely to happen based on my past predictions: Eagles 34-20. Every time I make a prediction for a certain team I'm usually off by about 14 in the other teams direction.
Note: I'm not rooting for the Pats to win... Have never liked them. Not even a little bit.
As for the deck contest, Uttermadness has shown me how much I rush things. Guess that's what you get when you only have library access... I'd replace it but it does throw off the balance of the creatures and the mana curve a little too, so I'm leavin mine as is if anyone wants to know. Hopefully mine is good, didn't have any good decks to test it against.
Combo:
4 Myr Landshaper
4 Splinter
Other Creatures:
4 Birds of Paradise (I wish these weren't necessary)
4 Eternal Witness (easier to pull off getting two types of land this way)
4 Sakura Tribe-Elder (seemingly in everything green these days... but for good reason)
2 Kodama of the North Tree (I hope I got the right direction.... the untargetable one..)
2 Keiga the Tidal Star (this and above are win conditions... and hopefully fitting ones)
4 Neurok Transmuter (works well in combo)
Non-creatures:
4 Serum Visions
4 Oxidize
4 Counsel of the Soratami (OK blue draw sucks so if the draw is unnecessary try Quash and Hinder)
Land:
4 Forbidden Orchard (I think I got enough creatures to pull this off.. if not the city is the next best thing)
7 Island
9 Forest
Until next time.... peace
