The one I'm interested in is what happens when YOUR match ends and you Side Quest right before killing your opponent. Your next upkeep wouldn't happen until your next game (which would be some large amount of minutes). Would they just keep control of that card until it dies or they win? Too bad, it wouldn't get the counters that way though because I'm 99.9% sure it'd start in your deck (though have fun arguing it should be on the battlefield to start the next match if that's your thing)

Modern might get a wee bit silly with this change for a little while, though not too bad I imagine. But at least it's a change for that format because it kinda needs one.

Chandra is silly powerful. Maybe OP. Definitely very little downside. There goes over $100

People keep mentioning the comparisons to Steam Augury but the real reason why Steam Augury wasn't amazing is because it required a color that was godawful at supporting blue for what that card was trying to play. If there's good, cheap white and/or black removal to go with this card, then it could still be worth playing. No guarantees though. Especially in Modern as I think there's a(n) (extremely small) chance even FoF would be too slow for current Modern.

However, if the draw or counter is also mediocre then this card could very well be completely unplayable. You need four pieces to make a great control deck to make this playable because it's about making your opponent make bad choices no matter what they take.

This is going to have some really silly non-applicable combo with it. Like I get that it works with Arcbound Ravager though his cost is too high. But I mean something like a stupid Reveilark/Grinding Station demi-combo or something like that.

If the Eldrazi Mimic is super useful for anything (and I don't see it being useful for that much), it might be Arcbound Ravager anyway.

If you discard it to Gathan Raiders, will it return to the battlefield or not? Regardless, I don't think this card is ANY good for standard, but in modern, I'd pay 3 colorless to return one or more of these back, face-up of course, given we have Gathan Raiders and Horde Ambusher. It's at least interesting with Reckless Wurm.

You want a bad draft? But one that probably won't cost an arm and a leg? Try Prophecy, Legions, Saviors of Kamigawa, and/or Coldsnap mixed in with your two already old choices. It's clearly not as old as you were going for but they were all terrible sets (IMO).

Five rares and three mythics spoiled so far and all the rares are better/more playable than every single one of the mythics (not that Ral Zarek is bad).

Master of Cruelties is just freaking terrible. I hope there's some hope for at least ONE good Rakdos rare. I'm so disappointed by what they did with that guild in this block...

The green and blue style felt very "White Christmas"-y. I wouldn't stick to it because of the migraine-inducing white background but still solid effort considering the circumstances.

This card is like a beautiful Italian/Brazilian/Canadian woman who's being locked in her basement by her grandpa while her perfectly fine looking but yet still uglier sisters get all the attention while she's only occasionally let out to have fun. Free this beautiful woman! Free her!

Best aura ever, dude? Totally. Giving a land card advantage like this is ridonk. Hello $20 rare. Also, hello more black control fodder. Though, honestly, every black deck will want to use this.

  • posted a message on This anti-blue stance Wizards is taking is getting old.
I used to play blue more than any other color, and yes, seeing this is frustrating for someone who started on the more old school scenario of 'Tog and other blue control. But frankly, I don't care if counters get weaker as long as there's an answer for the problem spells. Right now, the only real problem I'm seeing is the ridiculous amount of board sweep that's in the current standard and looks to continue forward into RTR standard. Really, if you want to weaken counters, strengthen discard and bounce. The option that Wizards seems to be choosing for this sadly is making creatures so strong that they either a) replace themselves for free or b) are extremely hard to deal with. And it doesn't help four of the five keywords so far are creature-centric. And the other reinforces boardwiping. I look forward to playing BR control this fall is all I'm gonna have to say about this.

When I first read that I thought the +1 had the Lure ability too. Now, on rereading, I'm not sure how good it is. The +1 is meh. Clearly the -3 is good but potential kills her. And the ultimate... Well, I feel there's too much board wipe for that to work. The other two cards are essentially vanilla for the purposes of previews. Nothing interesting here to see (tho the Justicar is OK).
