Cool, exactly what I wanted to hear, truthful answer. Appreciate it and the local shop I go to is VERY competitive. I wouldn't even plan on winning if LSV built me a deck. Of the top 100 FNM players in IL 17 go to the shop I will be playing at ;D I currently go there to PC Game at their LAN but wanted to start paper Magic again
Well, atleast @ your avg. FNM. I just got back into MTG 2 months ago (MTGO) and my wife bought me an M12 Intro (paper) deck for XMas, while I don't plan on winning much compared to some decks I see, how do the intro decks hold up (It's Mystical Might B/W)
Thanks for the info Promatim, very cool way of going about it. I was stuck in the mind set for "buying low selling high" but it was almost impossible. While it would probably be better to grind 2 mans like you said, my magic skills aren't up to par (as I'm just returning to MTG since 1999 >.<) and I don't want to spend 200-300 on a standard deck. I figured this would be a fun way to go about getting a deck EVENTUALLY and I would learn a lot about current trends/metagame etc. by seeing what cards sell for a lot et.
Well, I'm wondering if anyone has essentially bought and sold cards (like the stock market) and made money to afford a deck. While I could just punch in my credit card number and get tickets. I think it would be a fun challenge to see if I could "play the market" to afford a deck. Or is this going to be too hard with so many bots? Anyone tried / done this before? Just wondering how you did it and what your strategies are.
Not sure if that title is worded exactly right. As I have recently come back to MTG and watching videos and looking at net decks, I have come across a lot of deck types/names that I don't understand. Does any one have a link or would mind doing a little write up of the different deck types with their names and a description/definition? I know the main "archetypes" Aggro/Control/Combo etc. what I'm looking for is a definition/explanation of decks like, TPPS/Infest/Mill etc. Easy ones I know are White Wennie/Goblins. Hopefully this all makes sense ;P
Well, I just recently got back into MTG since 1999 (and I went online for a few reasons) but I'm looking to eventually go infinite and after reading LSV's article on it and a few others it seems viable. Obviously right now it won't happen as I am so far out of the metagame it's not even funny. But there's only one way to relearn the meta and that's to start playing. What is a decent T2 deck going to run me? I have no real preference on what I want to play since I don't know what's currently going on (other than watching videos) but any help would be appreciated.
Sorry guys, another quick question. Don't want to keep making new threads.
I built a pauper deck, got into MTGOFree bot and added the deck from wish list, it said "15 free" or what ever was available. I then got into the FreeCardBot and added the same wish list, and it is bringing up cards that the bot has, but I already have some of them. Is there a way to filter out cards I already own. As I accidentally got 8 of one card from MTGOTraders

I just signed up for MTGO today so I haven't checked it out yet. But it says shipped Phantom Drafts July 2011...unless I'm wrong
