  • posted a message on Format Confusion? PT LA
Pro Tour Los Angeles (7 - 9 Oct) has a post-rotation Extended format

    Quote from john grant »

"Every three years, three blocks (nine sets) of cards rotate out of Extended on the same day as the scheduled Standard rotation. The first implementation of this Extended rotation occurs on October 20, 2005. On that date, a new set, code-named Control, will rotate into the Extended environment. The format's three oldest blocks, Rath Block (Tempest, Stronghold, Exodus), Urza Block (Urza's Saga, Urza's Legacy, Urza's Destiny), and Masques Block (Mercadian Masques, Nemesis and Prophecy) will rotate out.

"Base sets released during the same period as a departing block also rotate out of Extended. For example, Sixth Edition, also known as Classic, was released during Urza Block and will rotate out of Extended on October 20, 2005."

    Doesn't make much sense.

Actually it does counter Death Cloud. No matter which absurdly big number you pay for X, it's still a 3-CMC spells.

No it wont.... DC on the stack has a minimal CMC of 3...but I can't imagine why a person would ever DC for 0.

It was pointed out before that converted mana cost for X spells is ALWAYS zero, except for when it is on the stack. When there is a variable costed spell on the stack, its converted mana cost is the cost used to play that spell. Chalice of the void in your hand has 0 cmc, on the stack for 3,3 it has a cmc of 6, then in play (with 3 counters) it has a cmc of 0.

Nice article, though as mentioned your sb goes unexplained.

I am not sold completely on Rewind or Hinder... imo T2 blue is a pale version of its illustrious past.

What about space for MD Jushi's? -1 Magpie -2 (thoughtbinds/hinder/rewind)?

What is the purpose of the spectral shifts?

of course you can respond to time stop... it uses the stack.

This seems to indicate that you don't really know what the stack is.

Yeah Wolfwood... who the hell do you think you are? Go home and cry in your wheaties fanboy!

well, the guilds would enhance the coulours, so i think it'd rather be:
    Furnace Guild Sorceror- 1RR
    Creature- Human Shaman
Whenever you play a card that has islands Guild in its name, Furnace Guild Sorceror deals 1 damage to target creature or player.
    2/2

    or something...

As previously pointed out, this is spiritcraft. Someone claimed that it would be better as spiritcraft triggers on "Spirit or Arcane".

I say spiritcraft has more potential sources to trigger from, as it has a creature type (one very generic and very popular in block) and a card subtype vs LANDTYPE Guild.

Man... if marriage is the only way to have a good V day... its a VERY expensive way to go!

All things in due time I believe.

Who all is going to PTQ's for Philly? Thinking of going to Kansas City this weekend, and next is here at home (Columbia). Been tinkering with an old tradewind deck, and a snakes deck (sosukes summons is degenerate)... toyed with the thought of arcane cuz betrayers is legal this weekend too. If you haven't guessed extended aint my thing.
