How can I create multiple sections without having my list go on forever. I want to have sections for Standard, EDH, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I hate limited, so much. I'm just not good at it. It's a very hard format.
Well, constructed can be similar to limited if you don't use the internet for ideas. You get to use whatever cards you have at the time and make the best deck you can. I suppose this is more akin to Sealed than draft because you have all your cards immediately instead of knowing only one card at a time and without future card knowledge.
I agree, limited is the hardest format to master and the only reason I don't do more of it is due to my LGS's affinity for doing rare drafts at the end which discourages new players, for the fact they will ultimately not be able to keep their foil Gideon they cracked.
If Gatecrash isn't much of a money set why are auctions on ebay selling them for around $100 a box? I mean if the set is poor shouldn't the boxes be selling for less, say around 85 or so?
To make matters worse, with the recent information put out by wizards, all of the shock lands will be reprinted again in Dragon's Maze. Wizards is really trying to get people to open packs. I love this actually - the lands should be more common and available to people. On the other hand, this will drive the value of the Return to Ravnica box down even further
My old LGS had a 10 round pre-release tournament. 10 rounds was decided to keep players wanting to continue (and spend more $$$ of course) knowing they could lose up to 4 matches and still have a chance of making the top 16. Granted the store shells out around 6 boxes prize support divided for the top 16 so there is incentive to keep playing. Most of the time the packs aren't available until after the release though except to the winner.(90 packs)
Of course playing in this pre-release will cost you 75 bucks and another 20 in Amp drinks but if you make it to the top 8 you are walking with some serious packs.
I love opening packs. The smell of new cards is intoxicating. Wizards sure knows how to succeed with sensory marketing. Imagine being one of the guys at SCG whose job it is to crack pack upon pack and enter the results into a database? I think opening packs would sure lose it's appeal after you've done it tens of thousands of times. How many packs do they open each set I wonder?
Weren't people complaining about the nostalgia reprints in M13?
Nostalgia reprints were only ostracized because they were not powerful enough to see competitive play in standard. I believe a lot of older players(30+ somethings), myself included want a standard season where it seems we are playing the magic we did as kids.
Playing Shivan Dragon now is only fun when it is the most powerful card for a six drop in a red deck. Sure it brings back memories but we are also winning with it.
I understand it is difficult to define a meta in theory but what cards do you believe would see play in standard if the following cards were not available.
The reason I ask this question is that it seems like with every new set there is always the possibility of it having almost no relevance in the current meta. Obviously if new sets always made a drastic impact on the meta the power creep would be so crazy we would eventually have a 1 mana 5/5. Of course instead of increasing the power of creatures you could make the game last a bit longer by raising the starting life to 30 but that would sort of create a mess of a lot of things.
I tried to find this question answered and couldn't find it.
How do I format a trade list that has a drop down listing.
I know I can create a deck listing by typing

That would be awesome, guess I should check back every week or so just to see.
Where did you find this information?
