DEN is not at all the same problem. And it's way more answerable than sol ring.
Basically, in casual metas, sol ring isn't a problem per se. A faster craw wurm never broke the game. Even a faster terastodon isn't a major problem. In more competitive metas, though, T1 sol ring is pretty ridiculous. Generally multiplayer helps balance games between disparate power levels, but if the strongest deck drops a T1 sol ring it can overcome the table pretty quickly. Personally I'm in favor of banning it. It wrecks some games, warps deckbuilding, and it just doesn't add anything interesting.
That said, mana crypt is a stronger card, at least in competitive decks. 3 damage is meaningless, and having colored mana available on T1 makes a big difference.
Ahh. I see the mistake here. You forget the rules committee doesn't care what you do in competitive ways. To my knowledge they play this as a casual format. If you meta is hyper-competitive then make a house rule. Since this is a casual format the casual party doesn't have to bend to the whim of the competitive, the competitive should bend to the whim of the casual. If you don't like the format because you can play sol ring then there is no gun to your head saying you have to play this format.
I love it as a utility card. It is especially great if you open with leyline of the void out and have sol ring in your opener so you have a turn 2 you have a hand and no one else does.
Technically speaking, proxies are covered in the rules on a certain level. Judges of sanctioned events are allowed to create proxies if, for instance, there's a miscut card in a limited pool or a card becomes damaged during the course of an event.
This is irrelevant for EDH, but so are the rules saying you can't use proxies, because that's only applicable to DCI-sanctioned events. EDH isn't that.
from the comprehensive rules:
100.2. To play, each player needs his or her own deck of traditional Magic cards, small items to represent any tokens and counters, and some way to clearly track life totals.
In the casual section it does say that the format may require supplemental non-traditional cards, but since proxies are not required to play a commander game, that idea is not valid. The rules for playing with cards that are not proxies are not just for sanctioned events, even if you wish really really hard upon a star.
This again goes back to my original point: Make sure everyone is ok with it before joining a game. And something to add: Don't get butthurt when they say no, have a backup plan.
Some people like proxies, some people hate them. If you like proxies make sure it is ok with your play group and don't assume that because you think it is ok that everyone else will and/or should.
If we go by the rules of the game, there is no justification for proxies. It is a casual format though, which means you can bend the rules if all parties agree on it.
This deck has been a long time coming for me. I always wanted to make a deck that only uses your opponents resources or at least mostly theirs. This deck was just randomly thrown together and it has been working out amazingly in multiplayer games. Just thought some input would be awesome.
Why would you run night's whisper over sign in blood? I just saw that. Isn't Sign in Blood just better in this deck? The double black means nothing here. It gives you more options.
Illusions of Grandeur is a super bomb in my friends deck who plays along with capsize or Venser it is super tough to deal with. The other "win" enchantments he uses are Celestial Dawn, which basically just kills a non-white player and Pyromancer's Swath. He also plays the angels including serenity and avacyn. Hopefully this helps.
Pyromancer's Swath doesn't really help me. It pretty much is only in there to donate and doesn't really go well with anything else. I am a little hesitant to put a card like that in there. Illusions would be different in my eyes since it has synergy with a few cards.
Well the ones that are banned for those reasons are for expense and popularity reasons along with a slight power. But what about the pro-proxy crowd?
Cards:
Armageddon. If you want to play it go ahead.
Generals:
Jhoira of the Ghitu
anything monoblue
again. play this as you wish.

Ok, maybe I am a bit of a jerk.

I actually had that in the original list. I took it out for desertion. Any suggestions on what to cut?
Yes. I won't run Hexmage just the Thespian Stage.

I used to have Illusions of Grandeur in here. I also want to add Capsize. I already have Celestial Dawn. Do you have any ideas for cuts?

Thank you so much for the help sir.
