My friends and I thought dredging much of those instants would be nice...but I don't like how you can't get the most out of them then.
I think Toshi, for one-on-one, should look to Hatred for 19 and force him through, using spot-removal to clear the way. Then you just have to give him shroud using equipment once you Hatred him....just an idea.
Now, I run Momir Vig, so I don't get a nice pain artifact (Yet! :P), but I can say that I had to cut Coldsteel Heart because when you get it early in the game, sometimes you guess the wrong color. I'd have a counterspell in hand against a fast deck and name blue to have two...then my multi-color land producer would get destroyed, or I'd need two green and would draw three blue sources or utility lands in a row.
Choosing one color, even if it's just out of two, can be difficult unless you know what's coming later. At least one-on-one against my friends, color issues are my only problem...and swarm decks.
Oh, and I hated drawing CH later in the game...even with Seedborn Muse out, I can't use it for more colored mana RIGHT NOW.
I got my English Legends Chain Lightnings for $8.50 each...and I probably spend $30-$40 on the rest of my Burn deck. If anyone is looking to put one of them together...you'll likely do better than buying two of this set.
I guess it's mostly for people who want foil versions of the cards, though...only foils I run are the Gateway Hellspark Elementals. I got a set of them for five bucks!
So, if I wanted to run an enchantress-type, controllish/anti-aggro, enchantment-heavy EDH deck, who would you recommend as general or who do you already use? I've realized that I have to have WG colors. I've seen Angus MacKenzie or Uril, the Miststalker (though I don't really want to focus on Auras), but I think any third color would work (Doran?).
I was thinking any number of token-generating enchantments would be wincons...or whatever a third color could bring in. There's just no enchantment-focused legend in green yet, so I'd appreciate any ideas.
In a multiplayer game, you:
-save your graveyard FOR FREE (or more with the right lands)!
-draw seven cards FOR FREE!
-ruin opponents' hands that they've been building up all game!
-hinder anyone with graveyard-based effects!
-hopefully prevent people from decking!
-help anyone with reusable tutoring...tutor their stuff back up!
-in my experience, always come out on top politically because no one minds drawing seven cards and most have no problem with GY guys getting hated on!
Assuming you have the mana, using Evacuation first can cause even more shenanigans....doesn't help as much as I'd like 1-on-1, though, but it was great in my Momir Vig deck before that.
Viashino Heretic is great for me in any red deck. Everyone runs artifacts, and most of my friends run MANY artifacts, so repeatable artifact destruction that can dent them, too? Love it. I should probably get a Thousand-Year Elixir....
If you made a Maralen of the Mornsong deck with just rituals, lands, zero-cost artifacts, Ad Nauseum, (any other relevant combo pieces), and Tendrils, won't that work barring the perfect counterspell?
Let's say I had Seizan, Perverter of Truth, on the field and played the last card in my hand, Dark Suspicions, during my second main phase. Then I end my turn. Let's assume my next opponent has 1 card in his hand.
I'm wondering whether Seizan or Dark Suspicions will trigger first...or if I get to choose since I control both?
Follow-up question: What if I had Dark Suspicions on the field, no cards in hand, and then played Seizan before I ended my turn? Does that order matter? Probably depends upon the answer to the first one....
I was using Raven Familiar for a while because it could also block 1/1 tokens and hopefully cycle out a counterspell or enchantment. Never been excited about it, though, but I still like it more than Augury Owl. I almost always just WANT the counterspell or a better creature.
Hitting a Nulltread Gargantuan early is great because no one expects aggro from Vig. Otherwise, like everyone said, it'll protect one critter. Sphinxes fear it, and against Doran it's decent...while many other decks need a few creatures to block/kill it. I never tutor for it, but I like having someone with a power level between small CIP guys and Terrastodon. Plus, another multi-colored guy is sweet.
Why has this deck gotten no responses in forever? I plan on building Marrow-Gnawer soon-ish, and I love everything about him. My only problem with fear is that I face a few artifact decks, so...lame. Oh well.
Again, way late, but I love Nezumi Shadow-Watcher because of the off-chance to kill Taurean Mauler or any other shapeshifters in a tribal deck.
