Vote CropCircles42
That's Y-1. I have no objections to a hammer from anyone.
Just realized that Grape added Tubba to the votecount but left the count of voters at 6 instead of 7.
With my unvote, Crop is at Y-2. Will gladly vote whenever we're ready to end the Day.
I was mostly being sarcastic; I don't see what I did as "sorting" in any sense of the word. Your comment feels, as has been mentioned, like a very awkward pocket attempt.
What is your mafia experience?
I don't necessarily disagree, but how does Bur's Wit-admit to Wisp fit in a scum!Bur world?
I will be sad if CC outted himself as scum, because where's the fun in that, but I will be angry if CC is town and being defeatist.
Crop's at 7 (with a spirit vote from Sloth, so...
Vote: CropCircles42
That's Y-2.
What else, if anything, needs to be discussed before we end the Day?
Why would you want to help a neutral at your own expense? Uh, yeah, what GJ said.
This is sweet.
lolwut? Why would you do this? :/
@CC: Why did you choose HR to establish a communication with?
Ok, I'll bite: why am *I* your strongest town read?
Although...there does seem to be a bit of a disconnect between him listing several "real" reasons to vote Rhand and then pushing it off as "mostly a gut read". I also felt like his paragraph on Az in that post was more strongly reasoned than his paragraph on Rhand.
Fair point. I've probably just gotten used to the roller coaster of "have a good scum game", "have to battle overflow suspicions from that game in the subsequent one".
@Wisp: Why do you feel more invested in this game where you're a (claimed) third party role than in any other game I've played with you?
Yes; why do you ask?
Obviously to be contrary.
But it's all good. I think it's unlikely that scum!you doesn't at least level some suspicion on me going "oops, I made a read on you because I thought you were Silver", so you just moved up in the townleans.
If CC isn't yeeted toDay, I fully endorse you pinging him toMorrow.
And were it anyone but HR, I'd agree that it looked like distancing, but I feel like HR does this in every game I've been in with him, so it's hard for me to see it as AI.
I erred in my last post when I said "I had you pretty high on my list to start, but then when I iso'd your posts, there wasn't a lot there, so I'm re-evaluating." For some reason, I've always felt like you and Silver were very similar in playstyle, and I tend to confuse the two of you frequently. I had Silver pretty high, and then I looked back at his posts and there wasn't much there. You're obviously wrong thinking I'm mafia, but I can understand why you think that. I've been trying to sort you off the little things I've noticed in your posts, but for now, you're a mild townlean.
See above.
Yes, but I've learned that they're not always guaranteed to come from scum.
My reservations would come from him possibly being town and just being suspicious of me in general, based on my scum play in the game he just modded.
I just reread CC's iso, and I'm not getting real strong town or scum vibes from him. I still see his early exchanges with KJ as more likely coming from town wanting to "be right" than from scum pushing a bad idea. Probably the elements I find the most suspicious are that he's voted Sloth and is voting Rhand, both of whom I have townleans on. I'm not opposed to voting CC to avoid a yeetless day, but he's not at the bottom of the pile for me.
@CC: Why is Cuth town?
@Bur: Why does it feel like you have no teeth this game?
Here's my pile:
Tammy
Sloth
KJ
Iso
Rhand
GJ
Highroller
Vaimes
Tubba
Silver
Cuth
CC
Wisp
Bur
WMU
Az
Boomfrog
Boomfrog's entrance and subsequent posts have been super underwhelming. I'm all for letting them catch up, but I think that Chad was scummy enough that a vote is warranted, and if that pressures Boom to post, so much the better.
Vote: Boomfrog
N1: Bleed Cuth for 1 or 3. (You're either back at 7 or at 9.)
D2: Ping Target2. (You're at 6 or 8.)
N2: Bleed Cuth for 1 or 3 (total of 2 or 6) and Target2 for 1 or 3. (You're at 8, 12, or 14.)
D3: Ping Target3. (You're at 7, 11, or 13.)
N3: Bleed Cuth for 1 or 3 (total of 3 or 9), Target2 for 1 or 3 (total of 2 or 6), and Target3 for 1 or 3.
Unless one of the three has already died, you've dealt a minimum of 6 damage/maximum of 18 (although on the maximum front, you've probably killed Cuth or Target2). You're also potentially somewhere between 10 and 21 vitality (again, adjusted down if any of your targets died and/or you lost vitality in other ways).
That feels pretty dangerous in general, and possibly so swingy as to be unbelievable, especially if you hadn't claimed out of the blue and just secretly gone on a vampiric killing spree. A 4th Night is almost guaranteed Cuth/Target2/probably Target3 dead and more damage to a fourth target. Am I misunderstanding how your abilities work?
I asked because in 626 it sounded like you were counting "us villagers" and coming up with 16, which is (obviously) silly. But you corrected that in 629 and--still presumably counting town players, regardless of whether you're coming from your perspective or pretending to be Tubba--started at 18, subtracted "the self" (17) subtracted the mafia (assuming 4) (13), and subtract the neutral (12). If you're trying to emphasize how many town there are in the game (and therefore how silly it is to get worked up about one or two of them dying), then subtracting the (obviously, from either your personal perspective or you-being-Tubba perspective) doesn't help. It would feel more natural to say "why worry about 1-2 town when there are 13 in the game". I just don't understand why you'd subtract the self when trying to make that point.
As for your alignment, I had you pretty high on my list to start, but then when I iso'd your posts, there wasn't a lot there, so I'm re-evaluating. Your subtracting the self comment didn't feel like something that would come from a town mentality (and your explanation doesn't feel natural, either).
@Vaimes @Rhand Both of you think that phrase, coming from "it's the world versus me" HR in particular, is indicative of him being scum?
??????????
So not fully realizing the game mechanic once is understandable (I didn't). But you already had this "epiphany" a few pages back:
How did you forget that already?
Welcome, @Boomfrog.
I've been absolutely slammed irl, but I should have some more time tomorrow to dig a little deeper than just a catch up.
Most of what raised my eyebrows on early Iso can be explained by him trying to be a little less manic, a choice I applaud. Other things that gave me pause:
- Him liking my first post, which--given that I was getting flak for it from others--made me eye Iso's pockets suspicously.
- The "completely glazing over page 5, only 7 posts in" comment, which felt like a way to conveniently not notice things on that page, although I'm pretty sure he then went on to comment on things on that page.
- Some of his comments felt like fluff, which I don't recall being normal for him.
@Iso: I did a skim of Silver's early posts, and I'm reevaluating on him a little. There's not a lot of content there, and a whole lot of joking. Also, I think his 272 potentially comes from a scum!Chad buddy wanting to point out that Chad didn't really comment on him (Silver) before anyone else did. I'll finish iso'ing him when I have more time.
@Vaimes: In 629, why do you "subtract the self (in theory)" when you're trying to emphasize the count of town players?
Tubba and Cuth are both trending up for me from recent posts. And Tammy continues to feel obvTown.
Yep, a few more posts of unbridled righteous indignation from Highroller jogged my memory: this is very standard Highroller. First post flavor claim, then latch onto a polarizing controversy and ride it hard. Problem with that playstyle is that it's pretty easy to imitate as either alignment, so I'm still not getting strong vibes either way.
@Highroller: You may have mentioned this already, but if Wisp weren't yeetable, who would you yeet instead?
I have reservations about Wisp because it feels like his ability is a combination arsonist/serial killer/hitman concept, which is super cool in execution, but also feels potentially devastating and swingy. N1 he only does 1 or 3 damage, but N2 he's up to 3-9 damage total, depending, and N3 he's dealt 6-18 damage, and somewhere in there is likely at least one extra death, possibly three, and possibly all three occurring on N3. It just feels like it has potential to get out of hand. (Less so if he doesn't hit his desired targets, obviously, but his winning scenario is where I'm concerned.)
@Az: I'll take a look at the posts you mentioned on Sloth when I have time, but right now I'm giving you a pretty big side-eye because Sloth is high on my townlean list, and you having him as your highest suspect just doesn't track for me.
Also: Good luck/congrats on 3rd child. We just welcomed our (completely unplanned) third child a few months back and it's been pretty wild.
I suspect we'll find that very few players started with as much as you did, but that's what I would expect from a 3rd party role.
I think you're making that statistic up because I'm fairly certain that it tends to come from certain players, regardless of alignment.
@Grape: The last votecount is wrong; I unvoted Tammy.
What was your meme in 372 intended to communicate?
I was pretty bummed to see how much hate Rhand was getting for it. I can't be the only player who enjoys a good roleplay... And yeah, my paranoia knows few bounds.
@Rhand: Huh, ok, that makes me feel a little better about you, I think. I was tinfoiling that you were RP'ing to pocket me (and maybe others). I LOVE roleplay (as long as it doesn't hinder communication, which yours wasn't for me), which is why games with Tom are almost always enjoyable for me. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out if you actually didn't know that/forgot it, or if my tinfoil just deepened a layer.
@Wisp: Holy carp I had forgotten that 0V equals death: That changes a lot for me, actually. I am re-evaluating my perspective on the mechanical aspects of the game now, and I'm sorta wondering why anyone would ever use the Skill ability. One-way chats can be nifty, but not if you have to suicide to establish them. :/
With that in mind, however, Wisp, how do you know it would take X activations to kill someone with your ability? It sounds like you started the game with 7V, but I didn't start with a number that high.
@Iso: Do you have Silver that low just because of his choo choo on a player who hadn't yet posted, or are there other elements that you either didn't mention or that I missed? Oh, you mentioned his 276. Anything else?
My phrasing in my vote was intended to be a reaction test to see who jumped on Tammy (and for what reasons) and who defended her.
------------------------------------------------
Tammy, Silver feel town.
Sloth feels like he's trying to solve, so he can be town.
KJ vs CC feels like two players putting their desire to be right on something trivial higher than any kind of win-con-related agenda, which makes me think they're TvT.
GJ's indignant frustration makes me want to town read him, but I think I remember him acting similarly as scum. @GJ: Can you list past scum games on this site so I can try to refresh my memory?
@Vaimes: Why does GJ rate a tier with 0-posters Iso and Az?
@Rhand: Do you think I like(d) your roleplay, or was I annoyed by it?
Tubba, WMU, Bur haven't really registered for me, which is only concerning, somewhat, for Bur, but maybe he's just busy. Cuth has mostly only registered for me because of their vote on me, but I can understand where he's coming from, so he's still null for me.
I think Chad has a >rand chance to be scum, mostly based on their "most of [Cantrip's] early posts struck me as odd" when I'd only made one post. Some reservations here, though, because I could see some town paranoia after the recent game he mentioned.
Highroller popping in to flavor claim and then peace-ing out is...pretty standard Highroller, I think. I'll need more data before forming an opinion.
@Wisp: So does your ability kill players who meet your criteria, or not? In 357 you said you have to kill players by being on their wagon or via your ability, but then you said you don't kill you just take vitality, so...?
Also, weren't we scum together not too long ago where you made up a terrible 3rd party role that either did get or should have gotten you sussed out?
I don't feel strongly enough about anyone to have a vote placed right now.
Unvote
Also, I was given a project at work yesterday that is going to consume a lot of time, so I likely will be light in my posting (said the guy with--now--two posts, haha) for at least the next 2-3 days. I'll try to keep up with the thread, though.
