Feb 4, 2014Cantripmancer posted a message on Launch Giveaway!Recycle was the card that started me down the dark path to becoming the Cantripmancer. Such a powerhouse, especially with Spellbook and others of its ilk. And Phil Foglio's art is hilarious.Posted in: Announcements

EDIT: You could say "Whenever a creature goes to a graveyard, each player removes a creature he or she controls from the game." That would fix it.
Palindromic Echoes 1GW
Enchantment
Creatures with power equal to their toughness get +2/+2.
Balance boosted.
Blamecatcher 0
Artifact Creature (R)
You may play ~ whenever you could play an instant.
When ~ comes into play, you may change one target of target spell to ~. (All targets must still be legal.) If you don't, sacrifice ~.
1/1
Fightsparker RRR
Creature - Elemental
Haste
At end of turn, if ~ didn't attack or block this turn or last turn, sacrifice it. If you do, ~ deals two damage to target creature or player.

Seeing as how Le Chat's review of my card was one of the nicest I've ever gotten from him, I feel obliged to defend his card. I believe what Tachel's Mirror is supposed to be is:
Tachel's Mirror X2
Artifact
~ comes into play with X charge counters on it.
Whenever the first spell of a turn is played, if it's an instant or sorcery spell, and if its converted mana cost is less than or equal to the number of charge counters on ~, put a copy of that spell on the stack. You may choose new targets for that spell. Put a charge counter on ~.
That feels a BIT more balanced, but still pretty cheap for the nightmare it could eventually become.
Time Bubbles: Fun, but could cause some headaches. I like the first line much more than the 2nd. More innovative and frustrating for your opponent.
No card for me, since I posted two cards ago. Next person: Critique Time Bubbles.
Purefire Spark 3RR
Creature - Elemental
Haste
Sacrifice ~ at end of turn.

Ah, my bad. Saw that you were head and figured...
So, why don't we have representation in the other thread yet, Fels!?
My vote is for voluntary critique posting. I may or may not be back to re-critique these cards and post my own.
Blah
Edit: Here's my card. Critiques to follow.
Nadnad the Mad 1UR
Legendary Creature - Human Chaotician
T, Sacrifice a Permanent: Each player chooses a number, shuffles his or her library, and reveals the top card of his or her library. The player who chose the number closest to the total converted mana costs of all cards revealed in this way draws up to X cards, where X is the converted mana cost of the sacrificed permanent.

Critiques
Wolf Alarmist: Pretty good, since in a dedicated green crit deck, this is :symg:: All your spells cost 1 less. (Unless you play two, in which case, it's 2 less.) Might need to cost 1G
Fragile Prism: I like it! Fun card with utility. I'd much rather it was a cantripper, like Chromatic Sphere, but that would probably need to cost 1, eh? EDIT: But, of course, that would make it strictly better than Chromatic Sphere, blah.
Fragile Prism 1
Artifact (C)
:1mana:: Add 1 mana of any color to your mana pool. Sacrifice ~. If you do, draw a card.
Rampaging Overcrawler: Pretty beefy. (Near) Guaranteed 1-fer-1 trade if they block. If they gangblock, you shake your head in pity. Still, I shudder to think of paying 5 for a 3/2 trample.
Venomous Copperhead: Ditto on the above price-to-p/t ratio, but I like this a bit better because we get a cumulative recurring damage effect. I think the cost is correct, but I'd love to see a 1/1 Venom creature.
Zealous Disciple: The "drawback" of needing to find a sacrifice outlet is negligible here since you get two sacrifice effects: Draw two cards PLUS whatever you sacced ZD for. (Spawning Pit comes readily to mind, along with all the Edicts.) However, the cost seems close to fair for the body and ability, maybe make it a 1/1?
Goblin Tactician: Solid in a (Sligh) Constructed deck, but pretty narrow and limiting elsewhere. Pick 13-15 in limited, imho. Interesting, but not terribly exciting.
Gruul Shaman: Pretty, but I'd rather have Quirion Elves. Couldn't this be "T: Add 1 mana to your mana pool."? Combo 'tween BoP/Utopia Tree and the hastiness of red?
Derisive Laughter: Solid concept, obnoxious, and a cantrip to boot. This gets my vote.
Memorial Tablet: Another solid concept, my second favorite. Flavor is solid, too.
Just a couple of notes/clarifications (not whining...I won):
It's an Uncommon, not a common.
Definately more slanted toward multiplayer than duel.
As for flavor, haven't you ever heard of "schooling someone in the school of hard knocks"? I've always thought of it as a process of life (sorcery), not a particular location or thing.
Revealing cards from the library, granted, may be a bit out of flavor for red as a "peek" element, but it conveys the concept of the School of Hard Knocks as "painful learning".
Just thought I'd "defend" my card a bit.
Repetitive Lesson :1mana::symr::symr:
Enchantment (U)
At end of turn, if exactly five damage has been dealt among creatures and players this turn, draw two cards.
But your opponent was votan, not nightshift.
Rawr. Searching back through the months and themes made me jealous; I missed a lot of good themes. So, Stax, when I go on to round two, make it a good theme, will ya? (And, if by some incredible chance Absolutionis does post a card before midnight tonight and beats me, make the next three dull, k?)
Lies, Sex, and VideoZombies?
Necroerotic Strawberry?
Girl on Tape: Zombie Lovers Gone Wild?
The Zombomatic: The Last Kitchen Appliance You'll Ever Need?
Yes, that's right. After the Great Subscription Decimation of '05, I have found the clan thread once more. You may all tremble. Or Trample. Whichever you prefer.
And I don't think that I ever posted a persona card, so here:
Nadnad the Mad 1UR

Song:
I had to go out on the lake today; I am really ticked off!
I had my boat capsize today; I am really ticked off!
I was eaten by a Dandan today; I am really ticked off!

EDIT2: Why do we have no representation in Clan HQ? Necroblade!?
15. Cantripmancer - 22. Absolutionis
Judge: RickCorgan
Card: School of Hard Knocks
School of Hard Knocks 1RR
Sorcery - Uncommon
Choose three from Artifact, Creature, Enchantment, Land, Instant, or Sorcery. Each player reveals his or her hand and the top three cards of his or her library. For each player, ~ deals 1 damage to that player for each card of the chosen types he or she revealed.
