Its a sad new, but maybe if people vocalize enough, they'll try and see reason...

Data from the last month shows that 20% of the decks used delver... I can tweek the page to show week results instead of monthly, but only at night, because i'm in work right now.

But in terms of archetype, (in that i have the week data) the main deck delver archetype lost 6% of the field, and the first place to Strompie...

I had already cut the soul manipulation before reading your answer.. you're right is useless.. i put +1 doom blade instead of it.

Lol, I didn't say that Soul Manipulation was bad, i only said that it was not a counter all the time. Specially with Teachings is more often than not a 2 for 1.

What i pointed out was the lack of real counterspells, and that is maintained. Take out the mage, and the capsule and even the explorer map, and put 1-2 real counters at least, and think of sea gate oracle. Your deck can have a hard time against full power aggro and its a blocker and a card advantage engine Wink

There are some problems with your list, in my opinion. And they can do quite a inter-loop.

The first is the usage of two toolbox pacages. The trinked mage (that is in itself just a one off, but leads to more one offs), and Mystical teachings one. I'd go just for the second one getting more space on the deck itself.

The second problem is the absolute lack of permission. Not even a single prohibit? Your deck is a tempo based deck, featuring blue, and with nothing to protect itself?Ok, you have a soul manipulation, but if the spell is not a creature one, no chance.

An then... Where is the mulldrifter and sea gate oracle? Both on color, very nice ETB triggers, and no room for them?

I'd take out the trinket mage package, maybe one serrated arrow, and try to get full value of 3-4 Mulldrifters and 1-2 Sea Gate Oracle, that is a great blocker by itself.

The one thing this deck does have over other aggro decks is that if you can get a landfall threat in play vs MUC, then you basically win the game because lands are uncounterable pump spells which gives you a great wincon. Bounce still hurts you though so even this is a marginal benefit.

Even then its not great. You could land some damage, if they don't bounce, but then again they're main source of removal is Serrated Arrows, that is kinda problematic for landfall creatures.

Yesterday i played against one of the new esper familiar storm, and they're use of that couple of tricks is really pretty annoying. They need 1-2 more cards before storming you out, because of the lack of the dual function of frantic search, but still they easily connect at turns 3-4, if left undisturbed.

Its a good deck, and the meta is not ready for it in the last couple of days, except the true fast aggro, that just ignores them.

But this forum is for Sanctionated Online Formats... Even Paper Pauper is diferent of this. Maybe if the admins are keen on it, making a pauper section on sanctionate play, but not the online one, should be more correct...

Go for it, burn may have some very bad matchups now, but if you like playing it and post simmers down a bit it can be good. One thing I would suggest is Kiln Fiend. As a storm player, I hated to see burn across from me, mostly because Kiln Fiend could turn 3 kill me (and can get a few other decks in the format too.) As for being obsolete when AVR hits due to Boros, I wouldn't be so sure about that. I've never really understood Boros in Pauper. Every forum with Pauper has a huge section on Boros, and tons of people talk about the deck, but it has never looked like a good deck to me when I played against it and it is so rare to see it put up any sort of results. I have a feeling you will be much better sticking with Burn.

    Complety agreeing on boros!

On the topic on cause, why the goblin fireslinger? I would play Kieln fiend over it for sure, but two more fireblasts would be more than fine!

I play post...I have like 20 mana at all times.

But so much oncolored mana... How many times a Post player gets a turn 2 prism dazed, and never get hold on mana fast enough Wink

But regarding to the topic, the thing that many said, the lack of good sense of mulligan, is the main core. Against a deck like delver, that as a very strong tempo component, its vital to start with very aggressive hands, because you don't have the kind, or quantity, of removal to interact otherwise.

The other thing that many players fail is how to interact with counterspells. Some ignore them, and play the spells to get countered anyway, and some others just evade to play almost anything with the fear of the counter. You must play well, and try to understand how the other side can have troubles, and bait the counterspells with brains.

The best exercise to become better at this, is to play the delver deck against your aggro. You'll see that most of the time the delver player as pressure on him, and you'll understand what is the most problem cards for them. Then, get back to the aggro of your choice, and be more prepared Wink

I truly like the Dead Dog (the green/black) version of tortured existence, with the discard dogs, wild mongrels, and rootwallas too. Its a pretty decent attacking deck, not common, and with capability of getting good results.

The mono green stompie, and white weenie, are good decks, but since they've become format staples of the actual meta, i think there are some good sideboard plans against them, making it trickier to play. If this is the kind of tournament level that you want, go for one of them, if not, Dead Dog is the way!

Frankly i don't see this as a prime time contender as it is. The last deck that showed of a platted geopede power in an event was back in February...

The main reason for this, and until somebody tweaks this somehow, is that the deck is kind of slow for pauper. To get full power of Landfall you need to get fetches, but this are not fetches like the rare ones, that get you a untapped land. So to get super frisky you have almost all the turns comes into play tapped lands.

In the meta there are good mono color aggro decks with more powerful creatures (mono green aggro), or with better reach (gobos with fireblast), and even with more stable and grindier setups (the new White Weenie). After that the only true powerful multicolored aggro deck is the Affinity. But that one attacks the problem from another, and powerful angle.

The main question is, what does one get for being multicolored from boros, that makes it a solid choice for play?

Affinity is a strong pauper deck, and one of the most solid aggro choice's. Just this month there are already 31 Affinity decks with 3-1 or better finishes...

The main problem of the deck, for me at least, is not the quality of the players playing it, but the quality of opponents. Even being an extremely powerful deck, there are some very good sideboard cards in almost every color for messing with affinity. A early gorilla shaman, and the affinity player is in serious trouble. The deck that as the most problems with the affinity (especially with the atog version) is still the Mono Blue with is lack of removal. Your creatures are bigger than his, you have a decent range, and you play a lot of threads per turn, that can overrun it. Mono Black lacks decent sideboard too.

Its a very good deck, not purely dominant, and sometimes relegated to second plan because of other decks. Some players that i knew that played a lot of affinity, nowadays are running Mono White Weenie, just because its newer...

It depends much on your playing style/liking of decks.

The best way to go on to pauper is to choose a deck, and get it with competitive play, and then try to buy other's.

But keep in mind that even if the format is quite large, and there are some cards that are costier, like Prohibit for example, you can try similars, in this case mana leak, that are almost 0 tix, and for the start they could do very well.

The most played cards in the format however are in this list, and if you want to just buy them out... you could spend some bucks, but you'll end with a decent selection.
