I've been here for 14 years and 5 months. Registered on MTGNews in 2001. I used to post a ton, but lost interest when my clan The Called dissolved and the Gutter was archived. Curse was truly a curse for this place but I continued to visit as a lurker mostly because of the familiarity of the boards. I'll miss the site and the memories it holds for me. I hope the new location will provide players the same information and resources we've come to depend on.
Teia Rabbitshoes.....I'll never forget our days in the realm of debauchery! It was fun and lighthearted ribbing that is (sadly) not acceptable anymore.
To all my old The Called clan-mates....where ever you are now, I hope your days are filled with the comedy we used to have.
To rianalnn.....Brian I'm sorry for our falling out...I know you won't see this, but live strong brother!
See ya'll on the other side!
You are ridiculous! To be that nit-picky about the terms "format" and "tournament" when talking about legally playable is absurd. The intent of the conversation was to distinguish between the Silver bordered cards of the "UN" sets and the gold bordered Champion Deck cards....that are not tourny legal because they can't be played without sleeves due to their backing. Additionally, the cards in the UN sets are specifically not tourny legal or format legal because Wizards specifically made them so when they released them....regardless of their border color. THey only made the lands "black bordered" so as not to confuse players AND to maintain the aesthetic of card design with the rest of a player's deck.
That said....Dack IS Vintage and Legacy Tournament playable.
Ummm...if you gain control of someone's Batterskull you don't get the creature it's attached to. If you gain control of someone's Germ token with a Batterskull attached to it, you don't gain life because you don't control the Batterskull.
I swear I've never read posts this bad before. Any card printed, unless specifically detailed not Legacy/Vintage legal, is Legacy/Vintage legal upon printing. Legacy and Vintage allow for every card in the game of Magic to be played in that format unless it is placed on the banned/restricted list for that format or from an "UN" set.
And you're utterly naive to think that isn't happening. Stores like Channelfireball and Star City have these connections, but they won't ever admit to them. Star City knew that Wizards was putting "Treasures" in Zendikar packs before the release....because they bought these card for them at their tournys very heavily.
I have to agree that Marsh Flats is going to be in this product. It only makes sense. I mean....they had Verdant Catacombs in the Vampires event deck!
The short of it....and this was discussed numerous pages back....Dark Confident is a card that is played as a 4 of in nearly every deck it appears in. Most serious magic players really prefer to have the same art on their cards to keep the deck homogenized for tourny play. Since there was a shorter supply of the MM ones, they are harder to come by, thus the higher price.
As for keeping the same art throughout your deck...for those that aren't really tournament players, that's important because cards like Thoughtseize where the opponent gets to look at your hand you don't want to play the same card with a different art a couple turns later because then the player knows you still have the one they saw in your hand. Same holds true for land art....many players try to keep land art the same in their decks....which is the reason why some foil lands are worth more...all about the art.
Here endeth the lesson.
What would the premium be for the entire deck since it currently retails for $30 in most places?
Ahh the early years of the Century...what a blast!
Maybe top off at $5.
G?R Monsters is a deck I've been playing for months now and the inclusion of Xenegod has made this deck so much more potent. Every creature that hits the board with him in play is that much better. He lives to Supreme Verdict and allows you to haste out a creature the following turn for big damage. I play 2 in the main and don't think I'd run more than that. I think his price will stay where it is for a while due to that fact...more than 2 seems like dead cards in the late game.
Gild is currently under priced IMHO. Black exile is rare and very strong. Sorcery speed is the only thing holding it's price down. Courser of Kruphix is insane. Yes he reveals your draw, but with him in play you can safely attack any UW control player with your Mutavaults knowing that if they charm it, it just comes back into play untapped. It helps with Domri as well.
Xenagos is for real. There is no reason anyone should be able to attack with a 10/10 Pulokranos on turn 4!
help me
Do we really think that SCG is out of these Standard staples, or are they claiming out of stock so they can buy at the low prices and sell for a marked up amount?
Curious indeed.....
