Goblin Rabblemaster has been selling for $3-4 as a result of it's success on the PT.

Same reason that foil Korean Ashiok sells for $300+. Even though the misprint is on all of the first printings in Chinese, they are hard to get a hold of everywhere but China.

I have a Korean Pack Rat with a square corner. What kind of price could this fetch as a foreign, playable miscut?

Soul of New Phyrexia is a bomb. If you can keep it in play until your next turn it just wrecks people. A 6/6 trampling body that can save your entire crew over and over again seems like a win to me. Add to that it's a mythic and it'll see play. Urborg reprint makes it more available than it was, bringing down the price for Modern. Chord is not going to be played as much as anticipated unless Trokir is crazy good.

I have a feeling many of these cards were developed with the new fall expansion in mind.

I put her in my RUG Monsters build and she combos well. Helps pump Polukranos, World Eater and other monstrosities. She's just a bomb...and she'll get much better when Supreme Verdict rotates.

  • posted a message on M15 pre-release - How did everyone go?
I'll put this in the right place this time!

We do a "High Rollers" pre-release. They only take 8 players, but each player pays $100 and gets one of each pre-release box. You are then to make your best 60 card deck from the card you open. It's like opening a box and making a block constructed deck. I won by going 3-0 and my prize was 40 packs. This was the best time I've had at a pre-release in a long time. It was only the second time the high-roller event was run and it went great!

In my 5 boxes I opened:

    2x Ob-Nixlis
2x Nissa - one of them foil
    2x Chord of Calling
    1x Soul of New Phyrexia
    2x Cruel Sadist
    1x Hornet Queen

My deck was sick. I was able to put together a side board deck that was mono red. It had 2x Siege Dragons, 2x Souls, 4x Lightning Strike and I only needed to pull that one out during the last match. It was much faster than the GB deck I ran and allowed me to run over my last opponent.

Soul of New Phyrexia with an Eternal Thirst is disgusting.

My prize packs weren't that good though....I got another Nissa, Worldwaker and another Chord of Calling and a few solid rares. All and all a very fun limited set.

  • posted a message on Market Street's decline
The Market Street has declined because we are in the Summer doldrums. Sales and pricing stagnate during June, July and August. When the format changes and we rotate sets, this place will pick up some more.

I agree with it's positioning on the boards....bottom of the page below all the non-magic related items is kind of like Friday evening television...the kiss of death position.

If you're in this game for financial reasons...you're in the wrong game! Yes...you can profit from this game by buying low and selling high. It's easy to do because the game is so stable and Wizards knows what they're doing. But using this game as a profit maker is very risky. Wizards is in control of what they release.

I can't believe that R_E's collection/inventory took a "Massive Hit" from the release of Conspiracy. That could only happen if you had nearly all of your stock in the 6 big cards reprinted in the set: Misdirection, Exploration, Pernicious Deed, Mirari's Wake, Reflecting Pool and Stifle.

I find it VERY hard to believe that anyone would just happen to have that many copies of these cards to have their collection take a MASSIVE hit like you claim yours did. But then it didn't....because you were so insightful that these specific cards were going to get a reprint that you sold them just weeks before they were spoiled! How relieved you must be that your collection didn't take a massive hit after all!?!?

Here's some words of wisdom for you....any card that has received a judge foil re-printing or has not been put on the reserved list IS going to get reprinted at some point or another for the mass population to purchase or open in a booster pack or box set. Count on that. Know that if you purchase a card with the speculation that you are going to make a bunch of money by holding and selling at a later date...KNOW that if you aren't as insightful as R_E, you could be in danger of losing ridiculous amounts of money!!

Here's the issue the R_E is having....he's a secondary market dealer first, collector second and a player third. His primary goal with this GAME...yes it's still a game....is to make money. He sees the idea of reprinting high dollar cards, for what is essentially pennies on the dollar for Wizards....a corporation that demoralized him in the past...as a huge cut in his business.

The reprints in Conspiracy are fantastic. It allows for younger players to get a grasp on the crazy power levels of some older cards in a new and exciting draft format. It also helps bolster their collection with $5-$10 rares that older players would be interested in trading for, so they can get a hold of some of the cards they've always wanted to put in their casual decks to beat up their friends with at the kitchen table.

That's what makes this game great! I'm not saying they should drop new versions of power cards and get rid of the entire reserved list...but this kind of action and reprint strategy is genius and I'm all for it.

My LGS is full of tournament level Legacy/Vintage players. They had a blast drafting this set all last weekend. So much so, that once they finished drafting they ended up buying a box for themselves. Every ounce of Conspiracy was gone from the shelves in my local store buy MOnday at 1:00 pm.

    But...haters gonna hate!

SO I have a Korean Pack Rat that has one square corner. What would be the value of this card. Without the square corner I would think I could get $5 or so for the Korean Pack Rat on its own.

That makes sense! I guess it's similar to the chance of opening a Zendikar treasure pack....in that you can't specifically take that value into consideration. I guess the biggest difference is that with a treasure pack you could open something small like a Strip Mine or something big like a Workshop, but here you will always open the same God pack.

I was just trying to discern whether it was worthwhile to include this pack in the value of a box.

How much is a God Pack worth? One of each God in the block.

Please do not ask for easily verifiable prices -warning for spam -Uldan

EDITS: Instead of double posting I'll elaborate....do we take into consideration the potential price of a box when there is the chance that one of them will contain a God pack. I don't know the numbers that are involved in having one in your box, but it should be taken into some sort of thought when assessing the value of the set as a whole.
