6-8 is a decent number. You might want to run a little bit more if you want to get to 6 mana quickly, consistently. As far as type of ramp, I like sorcery ramp like cultivate and skyshroud claim. I also like creature ramp primeval titan and wood elves.
After looking at five color Legendary Creature's, the only one I can think of, and it's a bit of stretch, is Scion of the Ur-dragon. I though of him since in the invasion block the Weatherlight comes under attack by the Primeval Dragons: Darigaaz, Rith, Treva, Dromar, and Crosis who were all parts of the Ur-dragon, as told by their Attendant's flavor text.
This is what I was thinking. It seems the most fitting of your five color choices.
I think the Myojins would be a serious problem. It is not difficult to imagine a turn four black Myojin. Having that happen against you almost every game would get old quick. Same goes for the red and white ones. The green one requires a hand full of fatties, so he wouldn't be so bad. The blue one requires a board, so that wouldn't be so bad either. The other three, though...
After trying star out tonight, I have to say I'm not a fan. Only needing to eliminate two players means that politics didn't factor into it all that heavily, and people were overly reluctant to act against their neighbors, even when it meant someone else was likely to take the game. I could have just had a bad game of it, but it didn't make me want to seek out another one all that much.
I really don't like star either. I don't think you just had a bad game, it just isn't as fun as FFA. No politics, and gang ups happen more easily. Boo.
I love this card. People underestimate it, and it often ends up sitting on the board collecting counters for waaaaaay too many turns. Mine rarely gets blown up, and I do not understand why.
in a 4 player game, magmatic force does 12 damage by your next upkeep while Inferno titan does 3, possible 6 with haste.
He also never has to enter the red zone and put himself at risk to do any of his pinging.
They're two different creatures, there are several reasons to run either over the other (for example, Inferno titan benefits from multiple combat steps). But for my money, I'll take magmatic force in a heart beat.
Ha fair enough, I hadn't considered it like that. I was thinking CMC-wise.
If you're going to pay 8 mana during your main phase, you should win right then and there. Forget waiting another full turn to even begin to reap the rewards from that.
I hate this argument for EDH. That is a line of thinking from other formats, and just isn't true in this format. Making a big mana play should put you in an advantageous position to win soon, but saying that you should win ON THE SPOT every time you spend 8 mana is ludicrous considering you have 3-5 other players that can potentially thwart you.
I have a Vorosh, the Hunter control/combo deck that actually wins fairly often through general damage. Just got to protect him. In the process of killing said player, Vorosh will grow to 24/24, and then he is one-shotting people. Not my best path to victory, but it works and is one of my legitimate back up plans.
As someone on here already said, it adds another dimension to the game, which I like.

I think you're missing the point. His point is that all of that has been done and done and done and done before for red in Magic.

I don't see that ever happening. He is good, but not Rofellos or Emrakul good.
How is he outpaced by it? He comes down two turns sooner, so he outpaces Magmatic Force.
